The Cellar Bar is located up a hill on a nice cobbled street in Batley. Next to the station, it is at the one end of a real ale trail along the railway. As its name suggests, it is located below ground level. It was fairly busy on our Saturday visit. Clientele were of varying ages. Ales were Cottage Mittelfruh & Duchess, Wychwood Piledriver, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin & Thwaites Wainwright.

Nice bar across the road from the station with pool table and popular with young and old alike. Had about 4 or 5 ales on. The Osset red was nice.

Very much open today, 4 real ales in excellent condition, but didn't see any obvious sign of Batley rugby league fans either before or after the game today, though you won't find any other pub between the station and the ground. Has all sports on.

Friendly staff and a good range of local ales. Pool table and TV Screens for sport and music videos. Appears to be popular with the Batley rugby fans.

Fine pub owned by the people who run the West Riding Licensed Refreshment Rooms at Dewsbury, and the Sportsman's in Huddersfield. It's in the cellar of a spectacular building, an old textile 'selling warehouse', designed to impress visiting buyers. Have a look at the intricate stone carvings of monkeys, owls eagles, parrots etc. before you go in the pub. After a visit, the huge dog sitting on its haunches right at the top of the building may appear to move, but don't worry, it's not real you know.

Run by a 21 year old cat. nice welcome. 20p off on pints on a saturday and an additional 20p discount for camra members. Drank Elland Brewery's Batley Bulldog.

Great little pub, sadly a bit quiet during the week but comes alive at weekends with friendly barstaff & locals. Good range of real ales/cider changed regularly plus your usual mix of lagers & ciders. Good mix of music from the 70's to present day on " Big Fat Fridays" & Live music on Saturday nights. Ideally situated close to the train station at Batley.

During our visit on Saturday afternoon, the pub was very quiet, however the beer range was quite good, with a nice Mild and two other real ales. Nice bar staff - worth a couple of beers should you find yourself near Batley railway station with time to spare.

Very good indeed - the Leeds beer wasn't perfect, but I enjoyed the feel of the place a lot and the cobbled street on the way is brilliant. Decent youngish crowd on a Thursday.

Great location and good stopping point when coming back from Dewsbury/Huddersfield. Have never seen the place busy midweek but have no complaints about the beer. Some staff better than others at making you feel welcome. Careful not to trip over the cat on the way in!

OK but often too quiet - not as good for atmosphere or choice of beer as its big brother (the West Riding at Dewsbury Station) but equally handy for a train based pub crawl.
