No longer Ods, Back to its original name BULL and FAIRHOUSE. Some changes have occurred, toiulets moved to rear to create another front room. Compliments to the new owners Great Heck, the beer is always superbly kept. Always an interesting selection from the micros, but I tend to stick with the hoppy Great Heck Golden Bull, at 2.20 it's the best session pint anywhere

6 handpulled beers tonight, 4 from Great Heck plus a Mallinsons and HQ1. A bit unbalanced on selection with 5 of them being pale, quality fine.

Excellent back street pub with a good choice of real ales (there's always one from East Coast Brewery in Filey). Well worth seeking out.

Fantastic place. Just been there for their beer festival. Loads of unusual beers on all in good condition. Staff were very friendly. Pie & Mushy peas for 1. Couldn't ask for more. I'll be back!

Having been told beforehand that this was a 'rock pub' I was a little dubious about visiting but my source had recommended it so gave it a go. Was pleased I did, there were a fair selection of unusual beers from independent breweries (5 in total, including East Coast ex of Fernandes I believe) which were cheap and tasted good. Live music was advertised for the weekends though there was a complete lack of customers at 6:30pm on a weekday night just me and the boy aleandhearty. The interior of the pub was fairly unremarkable though not unpleasant. The landlady was friendly and I could have happily stayed for a couple had I not had other places to go. Worthwhile for a beer visit when the music's on but really needs to advertise itself and get customers in for other times.

Gaining atmosphere there was an interesting open mic night on a tuesday. Beer slecetion was good and once again east coast brewery featured, however the Ecoast session beer was not the best taste and didnt clear.

Used to be a busy pub but the new tenants only seem interested in serving their own circle of friends, while everyone else seems to be ignored!

Seems like this pub maybe a genuine freehouse again. Under new ownership and serving a range of ales from independent breweries. Of particular note were beers from East Coast brewery (ex Fernandes), the session ale was 2.20 and very tasty.Gigs advertised most Fridays and Saturdays. The fire is burning (Burn those settees) and I reckon the pub could return to its former glory.

Fairly dead when I visited recently on a Saturday night. Only a stone's throw from the main Westgate drag, but I was able to have a whole room to myself! There's certainly a lack of atmosphere. Although the photographs on the wall point back to livelier times in days gone by. I'd still recommend this if you want to escape the packed bars and clubs on Westgate.

O'Donoghue's is back open, with welcoming landlords Brian and Janet. Music every Friday and Saturday night. Good beer from Scottish & Newcastle but sadly no local beers *yet* - beer priced around the 2.40 mark (as previously documented here).
The former landlord had pretty much gutted the place and seating is in a bad state, so it has yet to return to its former charm. However even after a fortnight open it is regaining character and many of the regulars have returned (including the musicians).

Phone number above is wrong btw. Can't find current one.

Back open again, landlord has good plans for it. Will write a more detailed review when I've been for a week or two!

It's been shut for the past few weeks - the Graziers' landlord has given it back to the brewery so I hear.

Gone downhill since them from Graziers took over. Ossett silver king usually on form, however prices have gone up somewhat 2.40 a pint when you can get it elsewhere at 2. Fire still burning, however not a patch on kerry's fires. Less cosy with brighter lights, no candles and mirrors, are we going back to Friar Tucks? Still some good live bands..

Bare boards and a sign Enjoy the craic are all that remain of the Irish Bar bandwagon. Of course, Guinness is still available but of more interest to myself is the range of cask ales. There seems to have been a shakeout here, resulting in familiar beers such as London Pride, Deuchars IPA and Old Speckled hen, although there is nothing wrong with these per se. However, the Ossett Excelsior was of excellent quality, my enjoyment enhanced by the real fire.
