please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Glad it's closed - it was awful and the bouncers were idiots.

Alas, "Cheers" is no more...!! (who's that cheering...!!) TJ
TeeJay - 29 Jul 2009 17:42
went here on sunday 21st december and never going back.
getting ripped off to the tune of 3.70 for a bottle of becks is bad enough but when the staff take it on themselves to keep your change as well the only word that can accurately be used is THEFT.
service was quick but cold, no atmosphere in the place at all, staff seem to see customers as an onconvenience to their main occupation of standing round chewing guma nd doing nothing.
full of idiots, and when i eventually completed the needlessly circuitous walk round to a vacant table i was duly moved on shortly after sitting down as it was " reserved " despite there being no signage to that effect.
have been here before and foound it passable and one of the few bars in the area where you can watch sport. since my last visit the few friendly and competent staff seem to have fallen victim to the huge turnover. quite frankly i cant blame them for leaving.

Food was good, but took ages to get served. Not much in choice in drinks, and atmosphere non-existent due to the eastern european bar staff who had probably never seen the show in their lives and clearly couldnt be arsed.
theharshjudge - 3 Jan 2008 02:11
went back here for the first time in 5 years recently

had been in the past with a work crowd so was quite pissed before we got in, didn't remember it as being as bad as it was.

My experience of this place is it's passable if you go with a group and can commandeer a table at the front out by the regent st end. You can have a chat at least.

the back is shite though...

Went on a Wednesday night with everyone from work celebrating 'Sarah's leaving do'. Bar staff need kicking into shape .... much to lazy & laid back, especially the female staff. The DJ was excellent and played all my requests and even mentioned a good luck message to Sarah a couple of times.

popped in saturday afternoon/evening as was in the area and my companion had never been to london but had heard how shite cheers was , so i took her in , full of arseholes down the far end of the bar , probably due to the football being shown on screens , had a drink n went , still as dire as it used to be, this pub/bar/hole is mainly for tourists who cant understand the concept of our currency and think paying 6 quid for a cocktail is fair game .
got served fairly quickly though , the range of products as other people have already said is well below average , staff chew gum, and talk amongst themselves all the time
AVOID LIKE THE PLAUGE

This place is a bigger meat market than Smithfield. I usually find these types of bar entertaining in an ironic way but Cheers is possibly as bad as it can get in London. Only worth a look in to crack up at the sweaty tourists on the dancefloor with rucsacs on.
calebjc - 24 Apr 2007 16:05
This place is designed to rip off tourists and annoy people like me who work in the area. Went there a long time ago and it was tripe then. Went there again recently where we waited about 10 mins to get a drink and order food - just 1 bar person who thought cleaning glasses was more important than serving. Then we waited 40 mins for the wrong food to turn up - 2 tiny plates for 4 people - 10.
No character, expensive & poor service. Apart from that I love the place.
jimbowhu - 15 Apr 2007 15:19
you would only visit this place so you could say i wont be going back NIGHTMARE
the_one_eye_spy - 12 Feb 2007 17:25
I cant believe this is the same place! A group of 7 of us visited Cheers on Saturday evening from about half 11 until closing. All of us agreed it was a fantastic night out! They had all the drinks we wanted, the music was great and everybody seemed friendly and just out to enjoy themselves. Only 1.50 to stash your jacket and the drinks were what Id expect to pay (and we were served quickly!) Special note to the door staff, truly first rate we had some issues that they quickly and professionally dealt with (no nobody was fighting!). Wasnt aware that the place was full of tourists or perverts, but maybe I wasnt looking hard enough!

Maybe we got lucky, as we found this to be better than we thought it would be!
wherever_i_lay_my_hat - 12 Feb 2007 17:12
We visited cheers on thursday 11th about 10pm , a large group of us, all very happy, proper 80's people out for a beer and a laugh.

The service in here is absolutley terrible, it is so bad i cannot believe its true.

the choice of beers and shots is well below average, basically non existent

the place is full of pervy eastern europeans, so its not a place to take your wife or partner.

if it was the last place in the world to drink i think i would give drinking a miss

the bar staff chew gum as they serve and talk to you ! well done management

ITS SO AWFUL ITS BEYOND BELIEF

Revisited 'Cheers' last friday afternoon, after about a years absence. It was not too busy, but due to only 2 staff serving behind the main 'walkaround' bar, you still had to wait 5mins to get served. At 4pm I was still sober so I noticed there was only ONE person serving behind the bar..!! This is Regent Street, central London folks! Can someone tell the management that, please! Plus, it is a rather smokey place. At 5pm someone opened the starting gates and all the office workers in London seemed to descend on Cheers! I gave up all hope of ever being served again, and ventured on to another venue!
Thinking back, I wonder why people go there when the service is poor, the beer selection is minimal (Bud on tap or Stella, bottles are 3.30) the food's nothing to sing about, and after 30mins you stink like a stale ashtray..!!
Thats some fun night out 9/5ers!! 2/10
TeeJay - 15 Jan 2007 00:09
Visited this bar one week day afternoon, liked the sound of the name.. it wasn't too busy! But you may find the staff behind the bar are too busy to serve you..!! After a little wait at the bar, a girl poured my drink, then she got involved in writing something, and totally forgot all about me.. for about 5 mins! Strange service.
(Management to note: must train bar staff to serve customers ordering drinks)..!
TeeJay - 11 Jan 2007 12:10
went in here saturday waited 20 mins to be served then gave up , over priced poncy place fit for tourists only
romfordir - 14 Dec 2006 12:23
One for American tourists, Kosovan cab drivers on their night off and northern birds on hen nights.

Avoid at all costs. Just dreadful.
HLC - 12 Dec 2006 15:13
so when we take em to a normal pub they can appreciate the difference , and also i know its full of essex chavs , last time was there was talking to a chav from billericay , totally scary place
romfordir - 3 Oct 2006 22:58
Why would you want to show tourists a theme bar? Especially a shit one full of Essex chavs?
anonymous - 3 Oct 2006 22:44
was meant to mean a place to show tourists as a theme bar but not a proper london pub , only come here when smashed already and its happy hour , even then its not very happy
romfordir - 3 Oct 2006 21:10
Miserable excuse for a bar. Only time I went here I was subjected to bad beer, indifferent service and dirty glasses. To be thruthful I only went in to see just how bad it was...

The last reviewer says this is a good place to show to visitors to London. Perhaps so - if your aim is to reinforce very negative view of London they might hold. This is a bland, uninteresting hellhole that puts our capital to shame.

Zero out of ten from me.
anonymous - 9 Jul 2006 21:09
have been here for many a happy hour , the service was sh**e , waited at the main bar for 20 mins gave up and went to the bar by the door to get a drink , full of tourists but where it is i didnt expect much out of it , was quite impressed i went in around midday and was nice n quiet had a pitcher of beer to myself and left very happy .
ok if showing london off to people from outa the area but not for locals
romfordir - 9 Jul 2006 20:19
Im amazed at just how bad this place is service sh*t atmosphere the same I experienced the same problems with a clean glass but alas was stupid enough to opt for a bottle instead should be in the centre of leicester square so no normal drinkers will be tricked into going in there.
juzza - 23 May 2006 09:46
Horrible tourist bar. Once went in for some reason a couple of years back. No atmosphere (though I think it was daytime). Served beer in dirty glass. Asked for new glass. Barmaid couldn't find a clean glass. I left. Awful.
anonymous - 20 Apr 2006 17:37
what have things come to when you go into a pub and can't buy a pint? It's halves or pitchers. I've never drunk a half in my life so i had to get a pitcher and pretend it was a normal pint mug and i was a little tiny pixie
big_andy - 12 Apr 2006 16:27
I agree with Julia, and have great memories associated with this place. I always have a fantastic time here and the guys are great!!
anonymous - 29 Aug 2005 10:48
It's very touristy and there are much nicer places to go in the area. Cocktails are okay, food not bad, all a bit overpriced.
Amanda_Fuller - 15 Jun 2005 12:13
Patrons beware!!
Unfotunately the once very good cheers pub has taken a turn for the worst. Good music and great bar staff, but the door staff seem to be only interested in letting in people they know. A little disappointing if your from out of town like my some of friends who I tried to take there last weekend. Also good if you are american, because there seem to be more in there tha brits! Will not be going back there now.
kpierson - 12 May 2005 04:41
Full of tourists but if you want Planet Hollywood style food with out the wait come here. Good if your a fan of the show.
anonymous - 9 May 2005 20:09
i visited that place many times and i always had fun..i have really great memories connected with that place..
Julia - 10 Oct 2004 15:39
If your a fan of the show then you have to visit. nice place but music on thurs night is a bit too R n B and some of the men are bloody leeches.
Not bad prices for a london bar.
Catherine - 28 Sep 2004 17:48
I am a regular at cheers on a Saturday night and always have a good time; the atmosphere is lively and the bar staff are friendly. The only drawback is that they stop serving jugs / pints at 8pm and the bottles are relatively expensive.
lennie384 - 29 Jul 2004 14:13
Been coming here for years, its a great place, not a pretensious clicky club but a bar that stays open till 3am with great music and lovely bar women! Perfect.
Nick Hamer - 10 Apr 2004 16:58
People please chill!!Wow..what is this some kind of hate campaign against Cheers!!!?I went there with some mates on a Thursday night and it wasn't that bad!!It's nothing special but it can be fun if you're there to enjoy yourself instead of criticising!!!Just pay a visit to check it out. It's a theme bar not a club so don't judge it harshly
Robbie - 5 Dec 2003 22:04
good cocktails and well nice food in this place! it's no club/bar tho, a themed bar/restaurant basically.
JP - 13 Nov 2003 16:02
Awful.Me and some friends Went here one Friday night after work. Jeeeeeesus!

It was reminicent of, and felt like being stuck in, Heironymos Bosh's "The Garden Of Earthly Delights."

The following is dedicated to Chris, Ruby, Meister and all the other Poor Bloody Infantry who have laid down a few hours of their lives in this pretentious toss bowl.

"And when he gets to heaven,
To saint Peter he will tell,
HERE'S ONE MORE DRINKER
REPORTING SIR,
I'VE SERVED MY TIME IN HELL."

Bob V - 3 Nov 2003 21:38
Went there with my girlfriend on a Tuesday night a couple of weeks ago and had a great time, probably because we were already quite drunk, but they did play great music for dancing to. The drinks weren't badly priced - 2.00 for a bottle of Smirnoff Ice. The place was full of sleazy men though who would pounce on my girl as soon as I was out of sight.
Simon - 31 Oct 2003 15:23
The pub tries too hard to be a night venue - if you take it for what it is - a theme bar/resturaunt its fantastic. Have been quite a few times with my girlfriend for dinner and a few pints and we both found it a rather decent experience and not too bad price wise for the area!
sjm - 5 Sep 2003 09:08
The poor press on this site made it the obvious choice for a mate's birthday last Friday. Can't argue with any of the previous comments but that doesn't necessarily make it bad. And we got some free low-calorie beer from some promotion or another.

To Mrs Anonymous who took her fella here - "taking coal to Newcastle" springs to mind.
Big Ern McC - 11 Aug 2003 09:24
absolute rubbish i went there with damian my man, and we were so digusted! tarts everywhere-i mean i cant see how anyone could fancy pulling there!?
anonymous - 7 Aug 2003 11:20
Went there with a bird once, she recommended it to me. The next week I was single again. If you lower your expectations before you walk through the door then you will still be disappointed. 'Tis a meat market. If you like that sort of thing then fine. If you don't then run away from it like it is a live grenade.
Meister - 4 Aug 2003 17:08
Lots of fun...cool staff...Great place to go out dancing and bartender Thomas's margaritas are to die for!
Bridget - 4 Aug 2003 00:56
... but not that fit.
Ruby - 21 Jul 2003 14:15
Noncey, pretentious overpriced sad place for sad people who think TV is Real life or think that being in a bar called Cheers makes them a celeb.
pitiful...does get some horny babes in there though!
The people behind the bar are Barmen and barmaids on shit wages and long hours, NOT tv stars, but don't tell them that, they would be upset.
