This place is designed to rip off tourists and annoy people like me who work in the area. Went there a long time ago and it was tripe then. Went there again recently where we waited about 10 mins to get a drink and order food - just 1 bar person who thought cleaning glasses was more important than serving. Then we waited 40 mins for the wrong food to turn up - 2 tiny plates for 4 people - �10.
No character, expensive & poor service. Apart from that I love the place.

Waxy O'Connors, Piccadilly

Fanatastic place when it's not too busy - it's like a maze of different bars and if you haven't been before you may get lost in there! Also the only pub I know with a tree in the middle of it (maybe to help the inebriated find their way out?). Turns into a hell hole come Friday/Saturday night tho as you can't move and it takes about 30 mins to get a beer. May as well have a beer on the tube in the middle of the rush hour for a similar feeling.

The Lord High Admiral, Pimlico

Went to this pub for the first time recently. My inital reaction from outside was that this was going to be a bit rough but having ventured inside, there were 2 empty pool tables (always good!), the footie was on and everyone, especially the bar staff seemed friendly. All was well until the locals walked in and made sure we knew it was their pub/tables by seeing which of them could swear and generally intimidate the most. Initial reactions are usually right!
