Good news is that it is a nice pub with a lovely garden. Bad news ... Firstly we could not run a tab; I was told it was a Pay as you go pub. Ordered three lunches which took forever. One was ok, one not what was ordered and the third a sandwich made of stale bread. Landlord thought it ok though saying all the bread was like that, and went off to get something different. He was really miserable, saying it was his wifes pub and he did not want to be there at all. If he does not want to be there then it says it all. I will not go again.

Fantastic country pub at the bottom of the village street/hill in beautiful Little Baddow - an exquisite part of the world - super houses and real olde worlde England - a retirement dream place. The ale is good and the food of great quality. Maybe a little quicker serving time but I don't want to be picky because i thoroughly enjoyed my evening and recommend it for a visit, wholesale.

Friendly pub with a good choice of beers. Lunch of roast potato with generous topping was very filling and good value. Dinner in the evening was of a good standard with some nice wine available. Comfortable place to sit around chatting in front of the fire. Nice beer garden. A pub to which you can take your dog or kids.

We ended a longish walk in here one lunchtime and thought it was lovely. The guvnor was a bit taken aback by the sudden arrival of a hundred thirsty walkers. (He'd been warned to expect a "walking party" but nobody mentioned exactly how many) but he coped admirably behind the bar while his wife toiled away in the kitchen. A couple of Shepherd Neame ales and one other I don't remember. The Kent Best was excellent. The food is standard pub but none the worse for that. Our ciabatta sarnies were fine and there was a real brown bread doorstep option.
The gardens are huge, with loads of tables and a kids' play area. I can see it might be a bit dark and cavernous inside, but it should liven up with some customers in.
One more thing The dressing on the salad garnish with the sandwiches was unusually tasty so we asked what it was. Not only did they tell us, but gave us a bottle with a few servings still left in it. Extra point for that

Recently visited here on a nice summer day. Beer garden is brilliant and great for kids. Food average. Despite the place being near empty on a Friday lunchtime the staff didn't seem overly pleased to see us. It claims to be a child friendly pub and looks a child friendly pub but staff don't seem child friendly. Nice mix of old and modern decor inside too but smells a bit musty. Has potential to be a great country pub but almost can't be bothered somehow. Shame.

A large pub with wonderful garden. Ideal for a summer afternoon. At least 3 rea lales on offer from the Shepherd Neame range and all in good condition. Food we had was well cooked and served nicely by pleasant staff. (This pub is in a wealthy area and perhaps this is reflected in the prices.)

Not really that bad, but no atmospher at all. Not sure who is running this place any more, we used to go in all the time, but since the "Boys" went, we moved to another bar more central to the village. good in the summer i think for the kids, gets busy at the weekends but going through a bad patch at the moment i hear locally.

this is another one of those village pubs that the staff feel that they are more important than the customers!!!! very very rude staff and the food was nothing to write home about at all! will defo not be going back to this one, food cooked from frozen and still solid ice in the middle of the fish! The chicken on my husbands plate STILL had running blood! When we first walked in and the bar staff saw we had two children with us, at 7pm i might add, they just looked at us in horror! never ever again!

Visited this pub a few weeks before Christmas. Had a reasonable selection of beer and the surroundings were comfortable.

Situated in a small village, with a beer garden and childrens play area, this pub has real log fires and food all day. Children and well behaved dogs are welcome.
