Re-opened after flood refurb. More like a restaraunt now, a definate move away from the bustling pub it used to be..Food good, HOWEVER.... TT Landlord £3.75 a pint, no wonder they have removed the beer board with prices on...No real cider.....the once convivial bar area has become sterile complete with anti disabled poseur tables. Also the local events shelf has disappeared. A move away from the local community, the place lacks atmosphere I am afraid. Shot themselves in the foot maybe...been dead on last few visits...Disappointing

Idyllic spot by the canal and only 10 minutes walk of the town centre. Choice of ales was a bit sparse but what we had was very good from Derwent brewery and Leeds brewery.
|
Continues to be good, beer and food, fish n chips back on form. Beer price rising Copper Dragon Golden Pippin still under £3 but guest beers around £3.15 a pint. Always bustling good atmos, apart from when kids are running about

Fine range of real ales in this straightforward and welcoming pub by the canal. Worth seeking out if in the area, especially in decent weather.
|
Still the best beer selection in Hebden Bridge and excellent food. Excellent staff.
|
Great pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere, several ales on show, I had Monkey Town mild which was superb.
|
Taylors Landlord spot on, 2.85, interesting guest beers and Excellent real ciders food still good, though being a regular for fish n chips here the Fish seems to have changed - the jumbo haddock was overcooked and had a pink tinge to it

Excellent food. Always a good selection of real ales. Wonderful canalside setting.

Good food and friendly staff always on the list when I visit HB.

13th Oct 2010.
Booked a table for mid-day for 9 - 7 adults a toddler and a baby. Well looked after by the friendly staff, food was excellent, (gluten free catered for) lots of choice. We took our own birhtday cake and the they were good enough to present it and supply plates and forks! Black sheep ale spot on. We stayed inside, good music and atmosphere, tables were available on the canal side.

Wow! I've only just found this place due to a friend recommending and showing me it. Oldie worldy feeling about the place that does excellent food along with 3-4 real ales. The biggest plus side for me though was the fantastic range of real ciders both on draught and in bottles. Highly recommended!

I liked this place very much and would go out of my way to return. It was a lovely surprise to find this place after a walk along the Rochdale canal, and I retreated to find a good range of ales - Black Sheep, Landlord, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and a couple of guests, including an excellent Empire Longbow (2.50). Place was doing a brisk trade in hearty looking food and I very much enjoyed sitting outside taking in the afternoon sun. Lots of families dining as well.

Definitely one to visit if you're after real ale in Hebden Bridge. 4 regular beers including Taylors Landlord and Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and 4 changing guests. Food is good as well (you have to book if you want to eat on a Sunday). Has a cider festival twice a year.

Yes, the food is good, and so is the beer. However, the customer service attitude of the senior staff is apauling and unacceptable. They are very very rude.

We stayed in Hebden for a week visiting friends and we went to this pub three evenings. Very friendly staff, very good food and decent Stella. My eight year old son loved the fish and chips and wolfed down large portions on two separate evenings. Put it this way - he doesn't like fish at home down south! Very busy but we managed to get a table without booking.

Lovely pub, great food, welcoming to all - a real must visit in Hebden. The beer range was superb, although quality it must be said was average (not as cool as I'd like), compared with the Goose over the road. Worth repeated visits.
|
Excellent pint of Landlord and good atmosphere.
|
Good food and good beer and cider. Nice atmosphere and very dog-friendly. Roaring fire in the winter and a pleasant situation on the canal for the summer. A good outside area for smokers.
|
The place is top notch. Excellent beer and cider, always served perfectly. The staff are friendly. The food is excellent, it takes a while to come . try the fish and chips, huge quality fish thin crispy batter (none of that soggy) and homemade chips

I was looking for a pub that did good food at reasonable price for a Sunday afternoon meal for 4 in the Hebden Bridge area and I came across the pub on the net. Not much to look at from either the inside or out but had a nice traditional feel about the place. The menu was what youd expect good pub food (fish n chips, sausage n mash, steak pie, gammon etc, but also had a specials board) but was cooked really well, very tasty and hot !. good portions served with excellent service. Good selection of traditional desserts/puddings. If you want haute cuisine dont go, if you want good beer, good food in a friendly atmosphere then go there. We will definitely go again but may book most tables were reserved but managed to get two courses in within the 1 hour til the next party turned up.

Good range of beers and fairly friendly bar staff. Can be busy in the evenings but seemed quiet on a Saturday. Good summer pub if you are happy watching the world go down the canal.
|
