Nice enough place with plenty of seating areas to get out of the way of things. It is a large place, perhaps a little too large (or too empty?) and is handy for the railway station and and pub crawl from the station. Should have stayed for another as we prefered it in here rather than the Plough.
7/10

What A Turn Around - The guys running this placed have made one hell of a difference not only to the pub but to the B & B rooms and the Menu well what can I say amazing so glad that ellie and paul have moved here After being forced to move as the Malt n Hops was sold by the Brewery from under there noses. The made a Hell off a difference there and to be honest they have only been here a short time and already you can see the difference Can Only GET BETTER can wait to visit again

Now taken over by the incompetent fools who went out of business at the nearby Malt and Hops. Expect more changes soon
|
This pub is a disgrace it shouldn't even be open legally, you would have a safer less aggressive atmosphere at an underground bare knuckle fight. It's also looking very tatty now too I won't be going back any time soon.

We stayed at this pub over the weekend, and I must say it has changed for the better. We stayed here just over a year ago, and wow what a change. The Pub is now clean and tidy, and I must say the Sunday Carvery is excellent. The Karaoke on Friday was a laugh and the band they had on the Saturday was very good. The staff were especially friendly. The Manager ccoked us breakfast during our stay, they as a couple were both a very friendly. I will be back.

I've said before (under a different name) that some pubs deserve to go out of business. This pub is one of those. Not only has the inside been turned into an appalling chav fest, but the windows and outside walls are now plastered with badly written posters advertising all thats on off: Poker nights, kaoroke, pool tables, juke box, live sports (on the tv) live bands, food etc etc, which means you cant escape the shit even if walking past or stuck at the trafffic light outside.

This is the first time I have been in this pub and will Certainly be the last. A very unwelcoming landlord and landlady. The landlady sat at the end of the bar with a face like a smacked arse and as for the sweaty landlord wearing a football t-shirt behind the bar, I would have expected better. But from reading previous reviews about this establishment, it makes sense. Beer tasted sour, glass was dirty too, I had a near miss with a pool of urine on the floor in the gents as I slipped . Overheard conversation with landlord putting other establishments down. Maybe he should pay more attention to his own establishment before putting others down. . (plough, kings arms and ring of bells) I will try these other places and review forthwith. Maybe scottish and Newcastle Should pay more attention to their reviews and certainly act on them. Never owned a pub myself but drunk in plenty over the years do know a good pub when I see one.

Still open

Closed I hear - no great loss

Having spoke to the landlord of this pub on a number of occassions he did refund my money and also he is sending me my jacket in the post which I left on his premises.
Maybe a bit harsh, but it is nice to see that you can come to some agreement!

If true, try Trading Standards.....

Decided to stay in this pub hotel, the manager asked me to pay him 40.00 up front! I did 20 minites later he told me breakfast would not be included. Refused to give me my money back!
The room he gave me was the worst room I have ever stayed in. No net curtains, a street lamp right outside the window tried to discuss this further told me tough! The towel had some unsavoury stains on it! No zhampoo in the bathroom.Since my departure I have been trying to contact the manager he fuses to talk to me.
A very nasty woman bar assistant told me I was a cock, and that her name was Bob the builder! You make up your own mind!
PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS PUB IT IS THE WORST PUB IN THE COUNTRY! I COULD TELL YOU ABOUT THE PUB ITSELF BUT THAT WOULD TAKE ME ANOTHER HOUR!

full of drongos

Only had one real ale on which was not particularly good and then that ran out. Only decent for watching Sky Sports footy as they generally have a couple of matches on simultaneously.
|
Mostly used by larger drinking pool playing tv watching shaven headed hoody wearing knuckle dragging kebab eating members of society.
|
Not the nicest pint of 6X in the world, but decent enuff place, more so if u like ur sport........6/10
|
football, racing and general sports bar, lots of bald men with slightly sozzled expressions
|
Had a swift 6X here during a train changeover and found it to be fine. Punters were tuned to Womanchester Utd hammering hell out of someone. Friendly enough people I must say. Plenty curry, chinky and kebab houses to be found in the vicinity. Yes,not bad when you're changing trains.
|
More like a licensed television lounge than a pub. Some real ales available, but an uninspiring choice and not in the best of condition.
|
go to the westgate inn for better and bigger football screens along with better ales, food and company. come on u reds
|
Well worth a visit if you want to watch the telly. If you want to visit a decent pub, go elsewhere.

This might be the best football watching pub in Taunton. They get Sky games as well as Prem Plus. They had two real ales whenever I pop in: 6X and Young's. The guy behind the bar on game day is fast and friendly, but on a busy game day he could use another hand to get the beer out. I did eat a burger and chips there and should not have bothered.

I stumbled across this boozer on my way back from the trin station. It does exactly what it says on the tin. it's a pub pub, without the idiots. The staff seem more than friendly the beer is in good condition, including the ales and the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. I ate home made steak and ale pie, it had good sized portions was piping hot and tasted grat. I am now a regular and have discovered it is great for football on the 2 big screens and the atmosphere is electric at England games.

A great pub to watch football on big screen.
