Great pub with restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, Mouth watering home brewed ales and good honest wholesome food, and yes you will want to come back again and again

Went on the brewery tour - highly recommended - and now I am big fan of the place and their beers.
Previously, I had tried a peaky blinder as they had it on as a special in my local. Whilst here, I tried the Worcesertshire Sourcery - which was superb.
The tour was interesting, lasted about 45 minutes and then we had a superb lunch and traded in our drinks vouchers.
Great place, and I will be back.

I've never been too keen on this place - the owners have always struck me as wanting it to be a gastro-pub but it's Lye so they know they've got no chance and therefore they keep it as close to the idea as they can get away with. I'nm not usually a lover of Sadler's either. However, on my last visit the place was buzzing without being too noisy or packed and the Hop Bomb was absolutely superb.
Bustling and lively but a bit on the small side as noted in previous posts. The beer range is extensive and very well kept. The Sadler's Cheeky Elf is brilliant - tastes so Christmassy it's like eating a lump of Xmas pud!
Not surprisingly a great range of well kept Sadlers beers in their brewpub and well worth a visit. Shame the bar area isn't a bit bigger with more seating as most of the pub does seem to be set aside for diners.
What a great pub!! Brewery at the rear producing an amazing range of quality ales, all of which were available from the 10 handpumps. Visited on two nights and tried the lot!! Everyone was a winner with Thin Ice probably my favourite. Real cider as well plus a great range of bottles. The food was outstanding, but essential to book at weekends. Will most definately try to visit again when in the area.
Amazing selection of ales. A must visit if you are in the area.
A cracking real ale pub, with Sadlers ales brewed on site. (A tour round the brewery can be booked for a small fee). Friendly staff and occasionally a decent bit of live music. Could do with being a little bigger though. Treat yourself to a curry on Lye High St then into the Windsor for some top quality ale! What more could you want????

Had a family celebration on sat 25th sept for mom in laws 90th birthday. Neither food or service could be faulted. Everyone said they had a wonderfull time. Lovely atmosphere throughout the pub and nothing was too much trouble. This was probably our 5th visit to the Castle and we will be back very soon. A very big thankyou to Russell and the lovely lady who helped serve our table . See you soon!!!
Worcester Sorcerer @ 2.60 a pint was excellent - pity diners seem to take over this establisment - well worth a visit
What a great pub - almost overwhelmed by the number of ales available. The 'Red House' tasted a little strange but was more of a hop thing, the 'Mud City' Stout was more to my liking. Don't know about food but there's too much beer here to worry about that.
A well kitted out pub, the real ale range is superb, some of our party tried to eat there but they're are a victim of own their success and all tables were fully booked. Close to rail station. Perfect really.

Amazing place. This is our second visit and each time we are amazed by the quality of the craft brewed ales and the food. Last time we did a brewery tour first then had ate this time it was just beer and Sunday lunch. The beer is amazing and all top quality as you would expect. I have really taken to the Worcester Sorcerer (my fav of the 9 by a long chalk!) which is a traditional English Ale and this months special which was Brickmakers ale. Very quaffable if a little strong at 5.2% for a session ale. The other ales are still on as they are the regular brews of Sadlers ales and are listed by others below. The food was top notch, we had the Sunday roasts this time and they do child portions too. If only this was my local! We first noticed this place after the Oz & James' Drink for Britain show and decided we just had to drive up to try it and the 250 mile round trip is certainly worth it in my opinion. Clean, tidy and great staff to welcome you too. A credit to you Chris Sadler!

Quite a traditional-looking pub in an imposing location a short distance up the hill from Lye railway station. However, entering via a small patio garden, it is rather more modern inside than you might expect with a couple of side rooms laid out for dining. The single bar has an impressive line of handpumps - one for each of the eight regular beers of the Sadler's Ales range (for which this is the 'tap house'), plus their monthly special - and the Thin Ice extra pale ale was very refreshing on a hot day. For some reason I found the atmosphere slightly cool, and there isn't a huge amount of seating beyond the stools for the regulars at the bar, but it is certainly worth seeking out.

The Windsor Castle serves the full range of Sadlers beers, and the beer quality is always spot on. There is rarely a guest beer on these days, but there is enough variation here for most, with the Mellow Yellow and the Mud City Stout standing out as classic brews. The pub can get very busy at weekends with the majority of the seating reserved for diners. Fantastic beer and next to the Lye's Balti houses, parking can be tricky (beware of clampers) but well close to Lye train station. Overall a great pub

Nice pub, liked the Mud City Stout. Gets very busy and there is very little seating for those who are not eating

What an excellent place, the second pub we visited on our Lye crawl, to which we returned before catching the train.
I have no need to describe the extrior, as you can see the pictures, though there is a beer patio/garden area. The inside is a strange mish-mash of old and new, that actually works. Sofas, barrels used as tables, tables usued as tables, chairs, stools, plain walls with olive green touches, different memorabilia here and there. The clientele were mixed and friendly, as were the bar staff.
Beer wise, its nice to see the usually dominant kind of fizz drinks shunted up the bar to make way for a central bank of handpulls, standing like troops awaiting a battle. A battle it was, as you were at war with yourself over which one to try next. Across the range, roughly from left to right; Jack's Ale, Mild, Greenman (lager), Worcester Sorcerer, Hop Monster, Thin Ice Stumbling Badger, Kinver Drop, Mellow Yellow and Mud City Stout
I tried halfs of several and sips of others. The MILD was better later on the evening visit, the stout excellent. The others were all good solid beers. Along with the Shovel, the two best places in Lye (Holly Bush, third). A must visit place.

What a superb pub, visited after the recent Stourbridge beer festival. A bit of a mixture of old and new, with beer barrels and sofas alongside each other, but what a choice of ales! As featured on Oz and James' Drink For Britain programme recently. A beer festival in one bar. Choice of ales - Jack's Ale, Mild, Greenman, Worcester Sorcerer, Stumbling Badger, Mellow Yellow, Mud City Stout and Randy Otter, all beers of different character and strength according to your taste. The Badger and Sorcerer were particularly excellent. Will be back soon.
This pub & the Sadlers beers in particular are going from strength to strength, fantastic to have the Mud City Stout on, what a beer. With the Shovel down the road also going great guns, its a great time to vsiit Lye!
GREAT PUB, GREAT PEOPLE. The Bar staff and locals were so friendly to my wife and i . It was our first time here, we ended up eating and drinking until last orders. The food was fantastic pub grub, which i washed down with plenty of top quality Sadler's Ales. I really reccomend this Pub!
A pretty good pub serving up some good Sadlers beers.
Maybe not as characterful as a many in the Black Country (and I was particularly spoilt on the day of that trip) as it has a more modern slant inside but well worth a stop for a good few pints nonetheless, especially on a Saturday for the football by the looks of it.
Very nice pub. Large drinking area and cosy dining. My husband loved the selection of real ales but luckily there was a good choice of wines for me. We weren't able to get a table but food looked very good. Will definitely go again.

I've only just discoverd this site through a friend after we had discussed the pub in question The Windsor Castle Inn.Me and my husband arrived i believe it to be a wednesday or a thursday evening either way this is unescesarry information, at first glance from the traffic lights the place looked quiet cosey and inviting.Intrigued to see if inside was just as lovely as outside we pulled onto the carpark. However to our utter disgust the only place to park was near what we believe to be the sculery door, which was strangely wide open, we looked in and noticed the floor was filthy and covered in food remains we took into account it was an evening and their had most likely been a lot of food preperation and meals produced but still it takes minutes to throw a broom and mop around. The fridge door was left wide open packed with fish and red meats all together on the same shelf and what we believed to be blood was dripping from it onto the floor. In utter haste me and my husband returned to the car and reversed from the carpark, adding to our distress we noticed the chef wearing his whites behind the trellising smoking and leaning on the bins on our way out. I hate to discover what the kitchen must look like if this is how the sculery area is kept. I dont think we will be returning anytime soon.

I Don't agree with the comments below, i drink at the windsor castle every day. The staff are really friendly and to be honest the only staff i can think off that have left are students helping out throughout the summer months! I really enjoy the banter over the bar at this pub. Some people just have to find something to moan about!! crazy days!
My partner and i have been visting this establishment for quiet some time now, and their is one thing that has been noted by us both and we say this with just a quiet warning to other potential customers who like to have a bit of a banter with the bar staff which i believe to be an essential part of the daily pub experience. Dont get attached to any of the members of staff as they dont last very long, its hard as customers to note as to why this happens. However since we have been visiting we can list more then ten staff that have either resigned or asked "kindly" to move on and we use that term very loosely. On another note the price of a pint isnt to bad reasonable actually and they do have a wide selection of available ales.
Has a great trip to sample some Sadlers beers, and were not disappointed. Tried the Mud City Stout and at 6.6% it tasted great.
My Wife and i had one of the best nights ever, last Fiday at the Windsor Castle Inn! really good night, really good food, i had one of their famous Hot Pots, which defiently lived up to its name, very tasty. Both my wife and i, tryed loads of the Real Ales on offer and loved every drop! Well worth a vist. 10/10 .
This is an amazing Pub, both Food and drink are very well priced and of a very high quality. My Family and i had a wonderfull sunday lunch, service was prompt and friendly, food was top Notch, but the real treat for me was the 8 Sadler's Ales on offer! Good Stuff!! I would full heartedly reccomend the Windsor Castle Inn to anybody. Just make sure you go hungry and thirsty!! We had a great Easter here and look forward to going back in the very near future. I'd say this is a must go pub for anybody who enjoys the good things in life.

We'd popped in on a Saturday night for a drink while waiting for our table at a nearby indian restaurant, food looked at smelt gorgeous so we decided to book a table for 9 people for Mother's Day March 2008. Firstly had problems parking, we were worried about getting clamped by the restaurant next door so that was a bit frustrating. You had an option of a set 2 courses for just under 15 or you could have 3 for just under 19 which we thought was quite reasonable, they had crammed as many people in as possible in the seating areas so once you were sat at your table you couldn't get out without a struggle!! Starter came out which everyone agreed was lovley, but then it all went downhill when the mains came out, the first ones to come out were cold so had to be sent back, most of the lamb & beef dishes were full of fat & i ended up leaving most of my meat or should i say most of my lamb fat!! (roast potato's were lovely though!) veggies weren't cooked properly, not enough potato's & there was no extra gravy brought out to our table, a couple of our party decided to bring it to the attention of the bar manager who was very nice about it all, but it was when the chef came out & over heard the conversation, he decided to get involved & was quite rude to some of our party, which then resulted to the chef going back to the kitchen & calling us all a bunch of w*****s to his colleagues!!!! Now i'm pretty sure that this isn't some kind of kitchen slang. By now our Mothers Day was ruined so we decided to leave our desserts & leave the Windsor Castle pub with a very bad taste in our mouth. I wouldn't recommend this pub to anyone & we certainly won't ever be going back there.
Not too bad a pub. It has the atmosphere of one of those new pubs, the ones with blinds and not curtains, and the beer is sadlers. i enjoyed my time here, not the biggest sadlers fan but i might pop back for another go. toilets were pretty decent too for a good blowout. and boy you need it after some of that black country mild.
Brewery tap for the adjoing Windsor Castle brewery, which produces Sadler's ales. The pub is clean and bright, although the seating seemed more geared up to diners than drinkers when we visited, (a Friday evening). 7 Sadler's beers and a guest, (Okells), were available on handpump and the quality superb. Food not tried but looked good. Will definitely visit again when next in the West Midlands.Handy for bus and train links too.
Amazing pub, lovely food, great selection of Sadlers Ales. The Sadlers real ale sausages and beer bread are worth going for alone. All very home made food, everything is made on the premesis and the menu has got a lovely slight real ale theme, which works really well. really nice atmosphere, would suit anybody from the lone dinner to a couple on a date or a family party or bussiness men and women on lunch. This is a truly excellent pub and is well worth a visit or ten!!

An instant classic - innovative, high quality and traditional at the same time. The beer (IPA) was marvellous, and the lunchtime hot-pot was real food, even if lacking in vegetables (sorry - wrong web-site). Hard to judge it's success from a Tuesday lunchtime, but it would clean-up in Cambridge or anywhere else. The Baltis in the high street are great too, of course.
Food superb and very good value (worth a visit for the chunky chips alone), beer and wines excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, great mix of people, great atmosphere. Does get very busy so booking in advance may be a good idea if you're going to eat there. Possibly the best pub I've been to in the West Midlands.
Only down side is that the car park is very small but there's a public car park about three minutes walk away.

What a find, the brewery tap for Sadler's "Incomparable" Ales. Sadler's MILD is an exquisite 4% drink and at 1.90 a pint a bargain when compared to the 2 or more expected for Banks's smooth keg MILD these days. Took my 20 month old son Harry in here during the England v Ecuador game. Kids not alowed in the bar but we still had a good view of the big screen from one of the restaurant rooms.
MILD can suffer in a lot of pubs it being not so popular so can be kept on too long and often goes well past its best, not so here the MILD was extremely well kept; and Harry loved the bubbles off the top.
The full range of Sadler's Ales were on offer Jacks Ale, Worcester Sorcery, 1900 Original Bitter, Thin Ice and IPA giving the bitter drinker plenty of choice. All were on handpull and so was the the "Guest Ale" a Bazens bitter. Sometimes there are 2 guests on.
The place had a very relaxed feel with a somewhat unusual appearance. Half timbered building with a modern style of traditional interior. Sadler's Ales have a history worth knowing about, bitter and MILD was brewed from 1900 to 1927 then brewing historically began again during the Winter of 2004 with the Sadler grandkids involved.
The newly opened Windsor Castle Inn is definitely worth another visit, might try the food next time. Watch where you park you are likely to get clamped on the Balti car park next door.
