Pleasant friendly community owned pub. There is an emphasis on food though not to the detriment of those wanting a pint like many places. The High Weald brew I had was a decent pint. Worth a drop by - though you don't have much choice in the village.

The previous 4 reviews really say it all. Our group of 9 dropped in for lunch today after a very pleasant walk and really enjoyed our visit. The proper pub grub was just the job and the Harvey's bitter was perfection in a glass. The food took a while to arrive but was well worth it. It makes a pleasant change to find an unspoilt village pub like this which has not been turned into a pretentious gastro pub.

I paid my second visit to this pub last Sunday after a walk from Haywards Heath. It's nicely situated in the middle of a pleasant Sussex village (albeit rather spoiled by cars driving through almost constantly). The Half Moon is an unpretentious, straightforward place, the way pubs used to be and should still be (but in a lot of cases aren't). There weren't many cask ales to choose from but the one I had (Harvey's Sussex Bitter) was tip top. Lovely flavour.

Decided to pop in here on a usual bike ride instead of the Cowdray Arms which is a bit lifeless and pub chain like.
This is a proper pub , pretty basic but all the better for that! And their food menu is great in its own way. Sometimes I don't want lamb shank from some gastro pub , I want egg on toast for 1.50 like they do here :)
They even gave us a whole orange from behind the bar when we asked - very friendly :)
Will definitely be going back for beans on toast and a beer :)

This is a really good small village pub. Very traditional and good for it. Beer (Harveys) is well kept and is well worth a visit. Great walks in the area as well makes it a bonus.

This is a proper village pub in a proper village. Pubs like this are getting too few and far between these days. Its fairly basic, but that's a good thing, it hasnt been 'prettified' yet or turned into a gastro pub. Having said that the food is very good and very reasonably priced, and the beers (Harveys Sussex and Youngs Special) were well kept. I suggest you visit the place before some PLC takes it 'upmarket' and ruins it totally....incidentally its in a fantastic area for walking, beautiful countryside.

Hard to believe this pub only gets a 4.6 rating (before I've entered my rating).
I didn't get a chance to have a proper look around inside, because my dog chose that moment to start acting up.
However, i did like what I saw. Wooden flooring, an old piano and the place has a real beaten up / lived in feel to it, which I liked.
Friendly barman took time out to give us directions / advice for our walk to Lindfield.
On a negative note, my Stella was pretty lifeless, which was a pity. Only stayed for one pint, so I wouldn't be against a return visit.

Nice small friendly village pub, expect the vicar and the scout master to be in there. Great! Nice bar maid too ;o) Beer good and a friendly atmosphere. Parking is not good when its busy.

Nice country pub with good beer and friendly service. Well worth stopping by for a pint and a packet of nuts.

Shame about this one, it used to be great night out, now, just a damp suib of a watering hole...what a waste, especially as the new owners have done wonders by opening up the bar area. Every time i go in I have to wait ages to be served. A sense of urgency and service with a smile has rarely been experienced here recently.

Nice friendly village pub about 10 minutes walk from Balcombe rail station. Balcombe is in good Sussex walking country. So if in the area, This Pub is well worth a visit before the train home
