The Navigation now has live blues music on Wednesday evenings, sustained by Nottingham's living legend Colin Staples and his friends.
Their crowd seem to get joined by students about halfway through, and for midweek the place becomes quite conspicuously lively.
What, with its fine beer, it's jolly good, I'd say.

Obviously this place is struggling to compete with its larger neighbours, whilst there are 12 handpumps only two beers were on, both Marston's, a cooling lager and moved on.

Great canal side pub that has been here for well over a hundred years. Good choice of beers, friendly staff - well worth a visit
|
Just off the main canal strip next to the irish centre. Decent pub with a lot of ales on pull. Friendly staff also

Visited here one Saturday in August. Tried one of their gourmet burgers which is a speciality of this pub. Up to 8 real ales to choose from so spoilt for choice on that front. The interior is quite modern and there is outside seating by the canal.
This is one of the better pubs that I've been to in Nottingham. The staff were friendly and the service decent enough so I hope to return at some point in the future.

Now owned by Martstons judging by the range of beers on offer - Jennings, Wychwood, Ringwood and Marstons themselves. All in good nick though, which considering the amount of handpulls must mean they have a good turnover. The Sneck Lifter was very good. The guy behind the bar - long hair, beard - was very friendly. Called in on a Saturday night at around 9.30 and the place was only half full, which felt like a bit of a travesty as it's a really good place to go.

A really good real ale pub with live music. John and Pete have done a great job to recover this pub from the brink of death! Now a blues/rock pub with live music and superb resident band. Keep pubs like this alive and make a visit today - food is great too!

Re-opened ages ago Now a qualityu real ale pub with good menu. serves as Magpie Brewery tap. Done a really good job of the decor but does seem to lack a little atmosphere.
|
Currently closed and undergoing a big overhaul. Time will tell if it can return to form - it had been terrible for the last couple of years.

The pub is on it's arse. Was in there last night absolutely nothing on draft. Nothing at all - no lager, ale, guinness etc Limited to bottles. A group in there had their event in the function room double booked. Also the gents had a leaking urinal. The bucket underneath was overflowing and the toilet was flooded. The sole member of staff seemed completely exasperated with it all and beyond caring. Such a shame as it could be a lot better.

Nice enough pub but the toliets are stinking! Would rather use a bush down the towpath
|
Pretty odd mix of styles. Looks like nautical themed pub from outside. Inside, stark white walls, big oaken tables and pictures of Frank Sinatra and co on the walls. Sports too. How odd.

Single woman travelling: ravished by the sight of Bateman's through the window, put off by the rather sleazy appearance from outside on the street. Have logged this for possible revisit with chunky BF who also likes beer :-)

Love this pub; perfect place to spend a warm summer's day, sitting outside, watching the narrowboats navigate their way through the lock and the occasional heron strolling aboyt the canalside. Bank's beers well kept, friendly barstaff, not bad at all.
|
Very nice to sit out on in summer by the Lock - and without all the rowdiness of the Waterfront area
|
Yep,as previous, very nice in summer as experienced last week.8/10
|
Good beer, nice food. Sit by the canal in the sunshine and watch the narrowboats going through the lock. Great way to while away the time!

Banks Original (mild), Bitter and Black Sheep Ale on my visit. Sky sports, friendly staff but expensive.

Great beer, great welcome and great service in this town centre pub that feels like your very own local
