Single woman travelling: ravished by the sight of Bateman's through the window, put off by the rather sleazy appearance from outside on the street. Have logged this for possible revisit with chunky BF who also likes beer :-)

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

The place to get in touch with your inner cave man - NOT for those susceptible to claustrophobia (!)

Very interesting for the historically minded - but one felt a bit marked out as "grockle" actually trying to read the history cribs on the walls. Good to see what seemed to be regulars in a tourist trap, but also a bit intimidating.

Beer was perfectly ok, food was a bit usual-suspects and I didn't appreciate having to order dessert at the same time because the kitchen was closing - at eight? If it wasn't a Famous Place it would not get away with that. Or people having to move without being asked to avoid decapitation by the ye-olde swinging-rope pub game (!)

The Castle, Nottingham

After one or two disappointments on a recent business trip to Nottingham, I fetched up here with an hour to spare before my train and found it very welcome. The pretty lass behind the bar served me with a smile: topped up my pint without being asked; and also gave me a serviette under it to avoid me getting dripped on :-)

It was very comfortable and peaceful in late afternoon - just what a tired girl needed to set her up for the journey home.

Oh - and the Pride was lovely *happy*
