Three Horseshoes, St Albansback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
If you want excellent cuisine, this may not be your pub. I have had better food, for sure. But I would go there again because of the ambience and friendly service. Be honest, do you really expect 5-star cuisine in a small pub? Or are you content with reasonably decent food at a reasonably decent price? I ordered the tasting platter (which was worth 6/10) and another platter which was a bit greasy and worth only 4/10. So I averaged 5/10 for food in a small pub with lovely ambience and friendly service. My verdict? Good! I would go there again any time.

Went to this pub today for Sunday lunch primarily because it claimed to be child friendly. Made the booking online but when we turned up they had no booking. Also they only had two high chairs and there was a waiting list to get them! So much for child friendly.
I had pork belly, which was OK, but the crackling wasn't crispy, however the pies were good.
Desert was ordered, my wife asked for a Black Forest Sundae, but when it turned up it was an Eton mess sundae. When we queried it we were told that they had run out of the Black Forest Sundae. Eventually they agreed to take it back and bring something else. I ordered a Toffee and Butterscotch steam pudding. What I got was a sponge cake which hadn't been close to steam, most likely a microwave, and they had managed to burn the butterscotch within the sponge itself, and no custard, only a little vanilla ice cream.
This place is cheap and cheerful, don't expect good value and you won't be disappointed, but if you like your food, stay away.

Don't bother .Worst food I have had in a long time. May be cheap but not worth the money. Meal was accompanied by a swarm of flies. I had the Fish Pie which tasted of petroleum, carrots had enough grit to result in a dental visit. Partners Fish and Chips was full of bones. Looked ok for a pint at best

As a Vintage Inn, this pub/restaurant has raised its game. The food can be very good indeed, and the choice of drinks - although not massively extensive - is more than adequate. The staff are hard working and polite. On a point of detail, some of the photos on the walls of Old Hatfield are fascinating!

Popped into this pub for something to eat, early evening, midweek. Had a very tasty inexpensive meal and was very impressed by the attentiveness and conscienciousness of the guy who served us. Didnt go for the beer, although I enjoyed the pint of Amstel I slurped down. It wasnt busy so I dont know how long you might wait if it was busy, but we would definitely go again for the grub.

Been beautifully decorated since I was last here a good few years ago. Very cosy & welcoming feel, all high back wing chairs and carpeting. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. Ther pub is beautifully set out on 2 floors and a big garden although as the garden is shared by the large car park I'd be worried if I was a parent of small children, because there's no fencing to guard against accidents.
Sadly this place is now a Vintage inn, don't get me wrong I like SOME VI's , but the drawback with these corporate places is the overpriced plastic food. We ordered toad in the hole, and we were given something that looked like a cross between an omelette and a custard tart. When we pointed out that this didn't resemble t-I-H at all, we were politely but firmly told that, that was how it comes in from the catering company!! We won't eat there again, too expensive for what amounts too poor quality food!
Not a bad pub but not good enough to make a specific journey to!!

This is now a "Vintage Inn", so the standard company menu rules. The beers on the pumps, when we visited, were London Pride, Adnams Bitter and Sharps Doom Bar. Never tried the Doom before, so I had a pint. Never have been a fan of Cornish Ales, still not. Not the fault of the Pub, just not to my taste. Might call in again if we are in the area, but wouldn't make a point of a specific visit.

I visited this Pub on a busy Sunday lunchtime with 5 friends. There was a waiting time of over 25 minutes for the restaurant area but the staff were very accomodating and we ate in the bar area.
The standard roast lunch of roast beef or roast turkey was excellent value at 7.50 and was very enjoyable.
I will be returning and have no hesitation in reccomending the premises.

More of a restaurant than a pub, but after all it's a Brewers Fayre establishment. It's well run and seems to be very popular: yesterday evening it was full of diners. Hardened drinkers were very much a minority. I was a bit alarmed to see that customers had to enter and leave by the back door, since the floorboards at the front were unsafe, but I trust this is only a temporary problem! The pub is prominently situated on the Hatfield Road. Worth a look if you're passing, but unless you live locally you probably won't visit regularly.

Comfortable, spacious pub with a small beer garden and large car park. Tetleys and Flowers are the ales, and there are plenty of wines and bottled beers too. Conveniently situated halfway between Hatfield and St Albans, and close to the Alban Way for walkers and cyclists.
