If you want excellent cuisine, this may not be your pub. I have had better food, for sure. But I would go there again because of the ambience and friendly service. Be honest, do you really expect 5-star cuisine in a small pub? Or are you content with reasonably decent food at a reasonably decent price? I ordered the tasting platter (which was worth 6/10) and another platter which was a bit greasy and worth only 4/10. So I averaged 5/10 for food in a small pub with lovely ambience and friendly service. My verdict? Good! I would go there again any time.

Went to this pub today for Sunday lunch primarily because it claimed to be child friendly. Made the booking online but when we turned up they had no booking. Also they only had two high chairs and there was a waiting list to get them! So much for child friendly.

I had pork belly, which was OK, but the crackling wasn't crispy, however the pies were good.

Desert was ordered, my wife asked for a Black Forest Sundae, but when it turned up it was an Eton mess sundae. When we queried it we were told that they had run out of the Black Forest Sundae. Eventually they agreed to take it back and bring something else. I ordered a Toffee and Butterscotch steam pudding. What I got was a sponge cake which hadn't been close to steam, most likely a microwave, and they had managed to burn the butterscotch within the sponge itself, and no custard, only a little vanilla ice cream.

This place is cheap and cheerful, don't expect good value and you won't be disappointed, but if you like your food, stay away.

Don't bother .Worst food I have had in a long time. May be cheap but not worth the money. Meal was accompanied by a swarm of flies. I had the Fish Pie which tasted of petroleum, carrots had enough grit to result in a dental visit. Partners Fish and Chips was full of bones.
Looked ok for a pint at best

As a Vintage Inn, this pub/restaurant has raised its game. The food can be very good indeed, and the choice of drinks - although not massively extensive - is more than adequate. The staff are hard working and polite. On a point of detail, some of the photos on the walls of Old Hatfield are fascinating!

Popped into this pub for something to eat, early evening, midweek. Had a very tasty inexpensive meal and was very impressed by the attentiveness and conscienciousness of the guy who served us. Didnt go for the beer, although I enjoyed the pint of Amstel I slurped down. It wasnt busy so I dont know how long you might wait if it was busy, but we would definitely go again for the grub.
