Nice visit on a November late afternoon / early evening.. good atmosphere with log burners roaring and snoozing dogs... Green King Ghost ship, but pleased to see Moongazer Nibbler and also (gluten free) Pintail..

North Norfolk 'trendy' now.. Not unpleasant, but very light and (slightly cafe feel) inside. Had a pint of Wherry that was nicely served. Would have to visit evening on a session to fully review..

Paid this establishment a visit last Saturday (30 August).
After visiting last year, I was impressed by the improvements that (what I assume to be new management) have made; the place is bright and clean, the staff helpful and the beer (Wherry) was excellent.
Yes, it's become much more of a food establishment, but so long as beer drinkers are made welcome (and we were) I have no problem with this.
The new sitting area along the front of the building is great for people watching!
Dogs allowed.

I expected much worse from the reviews, I encountered three decent beers, a few drunks, very sharp service and a few friendly people. If your in Wells try it but not too late and be prepared for live or/and loud music. I would happily venture in at anytime.

Deffo a bit rough and ready, looks great from the outside, I bet any tourists who wander in soon leave! Its a real locals pub, catering mainly for the lager trade, although the wherry I had was fine. Not somewhere to come with your great Aunt I would say.

On a recent visit last week they had Woodfordes - Wherry, Adnams - Ghost ship, and Greene Kings - Abbott ale (with one pump out of use), place is a bit spartan but ok for a swift pint. DOGS ALLOWED.

Absolute dump, Beer was OK though

good locals pub right on the quay, much better beer than sold on the Albatross ship right in front of you, "wherry should go overboard. plastic glasses available so you can sit on the quay and watch, boats, tide, tourists.
Never had a bad pint here, never eaten here

The pub is rather spartan, it's like going back 20 years. Bare wooden floors, rickety tables and chairs. Woodfordes Wherry plus on other real ale on when I called. Had the Wherry and it was a nice pint.
However, go around the back of the pub to the 'crab shop' (not sure if this is part of the pub or not). Absolutely fantastic fresh local seafood at reasonable prices. Best meal of our holiday.

This is a strange pub. Looks OK from the outside but when we went in it seemed to be frequented by a load of young lads (including the barman) who were playing something on laptops! We bought our beer and sat down by the window but the noise from the bar was annoying. The pub itself seems very empty of any furniture or atmosphere and is incredibly dirty and dusty. There is a huge fireplace but it looks like it hasn't been used for years and the remains of previous fires seemed to be all over the place. No beermats on a very empty table which meant any slops just sat there, and they certainly had - the table was filthy and sticky and the windowsill had about an inch of dust on it. Absolutely fantastic views spoiled by a very "don't care" attitude. Saying all that, we didn't feel threatened or intimidated in any way - just uncomfortable. The beer (Wherry) was OK but pulled in a hurry so just didn't sit right.

This used to be a fine pub, with good real ale and what must be the best view of any pub in norfolk, but it seems to have been taken over by lager louts, loud swearing, and drunken brawls seem the order of the day! not a place to take the Mrs. But the salt marsh views are still there. No food served, (just as well!)
