I agree with pretty much all of mcroyal's reviews, but would just say that I had an excellent Thwaites here last year; I reckon the beer quality on a sample of one was certainly Beer Guide quality, and think the number of pumps is secondary (the Cheshire Lines round the corner did brilliant Tetleys in the past).
I liked the feel of the place, and the lunchtime food was great, although it is competing with a great chippy just up the road.

Not quite sure how this got into the Good Beer Guide - only one ale on (Thwaites Wainwright**) and not a place to take your granny unless she likes karaoke!!. However, the barman was extremely chatty - perhaps he was glad to speak to someone instead of having to listen to the pensioners and their karaoke! (I reckon it's the same people every Sunday). TV on but quiet. ** the beer was OK and a pub doesn't have to have a huge range of ales to be good but there are definitely better pubs in Southport.

Well kept Thwaites ales but, as said by others, a somewhat uninspiring pub. Only a couple of minutes for the station so handy for a quick pint.

Another uninspiring choice in Southport, not far from the main shopping street. Thwaites Lancaster Bomber & Wainwright were on. Live football was showing on a big screen. Service was friendly. Although with only a couple of other customers, one of whom was fast asleep, it lacked atmosphere.

Thwaites pub with a mid-20th century exterior- brick and leaded windows. Inside, it's opened out, with one large, unremarkable L-shaped room. There seems to be an emphasis on music, with a very loud jukebox and a large motnage of famous singers on one wall. There is also a pool table towards the rear of the pub. I had a pint of Wainwright, Lancaster Bomber being the other beer available. It was in good nick. It's an unremarkable, solid enough boozer if nothing special- there are other places in Southport that I would prioritise.

Great entertainment on when I visited. Friendly atmosphere with the walls dedicated to pop music from years gone by with murals. I had Thwaites 'Wainwright' when I visited and it was good. Bit of a star wars bar but that doesn't bother me. : )

Not the place for a pint of real ale. Never seen anyone order it. One of the dearest pubs in Southport and also one of the dirtiest. To be avoided.

very friendly place, good weekend entertainment, good quality food and good barstaff.

Fantastic place with a great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the entertainment and would go again.
