Visited yesterday for the first time following a visit to Binham Priory. Excellent real ales including Panther, Adnams and Wherry but I objected to being addressed as 'squire' by the barman and told him so. Pub was packed, there was a 70th birthday party on. We ordered a bar snack at 2pm but was told it might be too late to order food but that as it was only a 'snack' they would do it, it arrived soon after and was quite good.

Excellent beers & good food in a lovely north Norfolk village. Deserves to be busier.

This is a micro Brewery pub ,the beer is better than average but the prices are very high indeed. A long thin bar with no stand out features 'cept the Brewery of course.

Called in for a pint recently whilst in the area. Seems to have gone downhill a bit based on my previous visits. Beer is normally very well kept, but hasn't been for my past few visits. One thing that you could rely on here is the consistency of the beer, but I have to say it's been hit and miss lately. Also, nothing seems to have changed for a while now and with the exception of one Friday evening I called in, it has been very quiet. Over the past few years this place has been one of my favourite pubs for good beer, but I shall be giving it a break for a while to see if things improve.

Just returned from another enjoyable visit to The Chequers Inn at Binham. The best thing about this pub is the beer, which is brewed at their own micro-brewery at the back of the pub (The Front St Brewery), the friendly welcome and the local atmosphere. There is a good range of beers, all well-kept, and taste before you buy is encouraged. The beer, however, is quite expensive especially considering that there would seem to be no middle-man or cartage to include. That said it is probably worth it! The food is typical pub-grub and a little over-priced for the area. I recommend The Chequers Inn for a smashing pint.

Called in for a couple of pints of their Binham Cheer on Friday 19th August. In tip top form as always. Took a two pint carry out back to my tent, which went down very well. Friendly service as usual. I always head to The Chequers when in the area and would recommend you pay a visit.

Been visiting The Chequers since our first trip to North Norfolk (Binham) back in 2009. Called in during a recent stay at nearby Wells next the Sea. Had a pint of what has be be one of my favourite real ales, Binham Cheer. Staff are friendly and for a really cracking pint of real ale that's brewed on site you cannot go wrong. They also do 2 pint carry outs, which is good for taking back to your cottage, tent or wherever! Camping in North Norfolk next Friday so will be calling in for a beer.

Anyone in the area who likes a first class pint of beer should visit the Chequers Inn where it seems they brew all their own beer. I have visited other pubs who do self-brewing and frankly all to often the experience does not encourage you to go back for more of the same, but the Chequers tiny brewery produces outstanding ales! During my stay nearby I tried Binham Cheer and Cullam's Ale - bot were first class: a big congratulation to the pub!
I notice one reviewer remarked on the the price of the food, I agree it is pretty pricey - especially the puddings, they really drive the price upwards. The food is good - but not that good.

Called in again whilst staying in Binham Friday 5th Nov - Tuesday 9th Nov. Excellent as ever. Quieter than the busy summer months, which was nice. Good log fire. Binham Cheer on form and I managed to come away with a mini cask to bring back with me. Made use of their 2 pint takeaways too! Service excellent and they made our just turned 3 year old feel very welcome. Also had Buffy's Bitter on plus their own brewed China Gold alongside their Binham Cheer. Well worth a visit. Nice walks from the pub and it's worth looking at the nearby priory. Hope to return in the not too distant future whilst walking the North Norfolk coast path.

Called in again whilst walking in the area. Awesome walk from Warham to Binham on what was probably the last day of warm weather (22nd Sept). 24 degrees and sunny. Had a pint of Binham Cheer 3.9% fantastic as ever. Also a guest beer and a Binham special, Swallow Song 4.9% (named after a swallow who returns to nest at the pub every year), although I didnt try it. They sold the bottles in the local shop. I just love this pub. Fell in love with it during my holiday to Binham and will return every year whether it be for a days walk taking in the pub or a long weekend break in a cottage. Just booked for the weekend of 5th November so bring it on!!

Popped back a couple of times whilst on holiday in Brancaster Staithe. Excellent pub as always. Great friendly service by the landlady, exceptional own brewed beers (Binham Cheer awesome as ever) and a great little village, that doesn't get overcrowded with tourists (Binham Priory just round the corner. I love this pub and will return as often as I can. They reserved a mini cask of Cheer for me about 2 weeks before my holiday and it was ready for me as arranged. I like the pub best when the sun is shining and the weather is warm so that you can sit out on the picnic sets in front of the pub or on the grassed area behind and above it. I would recommend you visit if in the area.

Stayed in Binham w/c 5th Sept for one week so this was our local during our holiday. Excellent pub with friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. Locals also friendly. Their own brewed beers are fantastic (Binham Cheer 3.9% would be my top pick) and reasonably good value at 2.75 ish a pint (it's a shame their bottled beers are the same price as a pint would have thought they could do them a bit cheaper - village shop also sells them). It terms of food we were disappointed given their reputation for this. The kitchen staff were pretty miserable in comparison to the bar staff and for almost 5 for a starter and 8.50 upwards for a main I would have expected better. I was in there by myself quite a bit early doors (from 6pm usually) as we have a little un and the place was getting rammed by 6.30pm for people wanting to eat so it isn't the easiest place to have a quiet couple unless you stand at the bar, on bar stools or sit outside weather permitting. It was also difficult to take our almost 2 year old in their at night, although they did make her feel welcome. So for beer and pubbyness it's an excellent pub and it's great for a real ale session. For food I wouldn't eat there again given the experience we had, but it was packed each night with people travelling from all over for their food so obvioulsy doing something right. Great pub so do check it out!

Popped in here on a recent trip to the coast. Really liked it. Very nice beer, which is brewed in the village - shame I could only have the one. Food was of a good quality, if perhaps a little pricey.
Other than that, a very friendly one room village pub, with a mixture of diners and locals having a Friday lunchtime pint. And they made our 18 month old welcome too !

Friendly pub. Superb beers. Well worth a detour. Although the food is highly recommended, we had to pass on this. But not on our next visit.
|
Nice pub near the lovely priory. Pubs are brewed on site called the Front St brewery. The 'Cheer' bitter though was pretty tasteless and not recommended. worth a visit, good selection of foreign beers.
|
I nearly always go here when I'm in North West Norfolk as their beers are always excellent and just as importantly the people are friendly, especially the landlady and the chef. I've only eaten here a couple of times but on both occasions the food was excellent, well worth a detour in from the coast.

What a lovely pub ! Sadly got there too late to eat but enjoyed some beer and the tastiest Stout I've ever had.The landlady(?) was extremely nice, makes all the difference when you visit somewhere to be greeted in a friendly way rather than with the usual nod ad never a word spoken.Could have stayed longer but it was closing and we were on our bicycles anyway.

Very nice pub, close to Binham Priory. The beer is brewed on the premises, and is very good. They also have a fantastic selection of Belgium Bottled Beers.
Food, priced as per Gastopub, was also excellent I had a lovely Baked Cod with Morrocan Chick Pea stew.
Very friendly.

Thankfully, this small village in North Norfolk still has a pub that oozes character, sells a variety of good beers and does a mean line in tasty food. It's in the village, close to the magnificent ruins of Binham Abbey. Tourists often stumble across it when driving around - but in the winter it's more about local drinking.
