Good pub. I'm glad that yellowfever's wife was welcome in the bar area and given biscuits.

Visited on Thursday lunchtime for a sandwich and pint after a walk along the coastal path with wife and dog who was welcome in the bar area and given biscuits. Locals at the bar were happy to chat and we enjoyed between us Felinfoel IPA and Dragon Heart and Mantle Moho. Double Dragon was also on but not tried. Julie the landlady was lovely so we decided to return in the evening minus the dog for a meal in the restaurant. Business was brisk but we did not have to wait too long for our food, our choices being traditional cod and chips and sea bass fillets both good-sized portions and very well presented. Nick the landlord/chef was equally friendly and happy to chat once service had finished. This was definitely the best pub we found in the area and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

A good pub (but not the one shown in the photo!)

Have to agree that this is the best pub in Newport. Good selection of local ales from the Mantel Brewery in Cardigan. The Butty Back is top notch, from the Wye Valley Brewery I think. The food is excellent as well. The faggots, lamb shank, burger and Shepard's pie are all great. The proprietors and the staff are all friendly and do a great job as well!

Undoubtedly our pub of the week in Pembrokeshire and sadly we didn't discover it until Friday night. The bar was busy with around 5 cask ales, including an excellent Felinfoel beer and Butty bach. We also decided to try the attached restaurant which was an excellent experience with reasonably priced, locally sourced and delicious food.

This is a pub of two halves (though they go together nicely). On the right is the Public, filled with friendly locals and some very nice local beers on draft. They even had Weston's Scrumpy on draft. The left side of the building is the Restaurant side, more up-market. As I didn't eat anything more than a sandwich, I stuck to the Public. 7/10

The oldest pub in Newport located at one end of the High Street. As you enter, there is a large brick built fireplace facing you and stone flagstones on the floor with the small bar to the right. Seating comprises wooden benches plus separate wooden chairs. There is also a room at the back and a garden. Food was reasonably priced. There were 3 real ales which included Oyster Ale.

Pleasant place, split into restaurant and bar, both with plenty of room. The food is nice and so are the beers in the bar. Pop in for a game of bar skittles or pool.
