| Visited on Thursday lunchtime for a sandwich and pint after a walk along the coastal path with wife and dog who was welcome in the bar area and given biscuits. Locals at the bar were happy to chat and we enjoyed between us Felinfoel IPA and Dragon Heart and Mantle Moho. Double Dragon was also on but not tried. Julie the landlady was lovely so we decided to return in the evening minus the dog for a meal in the restaurant. Business was brisk but we did not have to wait too long for our food, our choices being traditional cod and chips and sea bass fillets both good-sized portions and very well presented. Nick the landlord/chef was equally friendly and happy to chat once service had finished. | Have to agree that this is the best pub in Newport. Good selection of local ales from the Mantel Brewery in Cardigan. The Butty Back is top notch, from the Wye Valley Brewery I think. The food is excellent as well. The faggots, lamb shank, burger and Shepard's pie are all great. | Undoubtedly our pub of the week in Pembrokeshire and sadly we didn't discover it until Friday night. The bar was busy with around 5 cask ales,including an excellent Felinfoel beer and Butty bach.
