As others have said, this pub is actually called the Four Chesnuts. It is situated in the middle of a triangular junction. It has recently re-opened. In fact, I had expected it to still be shut. Therefore it was an unexpected bonus. With just Ghost Ship & Doom Bar on, the ale range was uninspiring. But staff were friendly.

Found this in the Good Beer Guide and was quite disappointed, the pint of Ballards Midhurst Mild wasn't great, and the pub was quite cramped and tatty. Definately reccommend The Bull Inn or The Fountain in front of here for ale, 6/10

3.65 a pint in a run down pub is not my idea of fun. Only one ale on(Hip Hop) and at that price they can keep it. Would not return to this pube ...
yes it's definately chesnuts, they are a breed of horse apparentely, and still a great pub, this and the bell are the only reason to come to chi
I don't know about the pub (haven't been yet), but BITE has got the postcode wrong so the map gives the wrong location. Try PO19 7EJ. Also the pub seems to be called the Four Chesnuts rather than the Four Chestnuts.

Popped in the other week and can confirm the 4 nuts is as good and friendly as ever. Beer well kept, good simple homecooked food, and great duo on (Trevor John)
Not sure on what criteria equitablyaboveboard based his comments, especially as he's now living in Sailsbury, but just to confirm the 4 nuts is still the best pub in Chichester by miles
Nearly as bad as the Gribble nowerdays, big tv loud yobs at bar poor kept beer wonder if son returning from short stint at The Bull a few hundred yards away has as much to do with them not able to cope without him, as it is that he went bust. Do not go there there are so many better pubs in Chichester

Been drinking in here for a while now never changes. Went to there beer festival yesterday 20 excellent beers if thats your sort of thing excellent value food as well as big TV with Skysports/ESPN couldnt really ask for much more in a pub.
Good pub on the east side of town. Usually two or three real ales available, including a mild. Good value food, too.
The beer has not been so good here lately and the music was awful and to loud.
Pleasant pub with several good local beers. Well worth the short walk out from the city centre.

Excellent friendly local with great local beers from the likes of Arundal, Langham and Oakleaf. Probably the best pub in Chichester.
Micro brewery owner did not seem idiot to me...good beer and food, possible searching for right clientelle
Very traditional pub with mixed custom and decent if not spectacular beer
The best pub in Chichester. It's a little walk from the city centre but if you like well kept and interesting ales - the splendid Hole Hearted being a regular fixture - this is as fine a pub as you could wush for.
Why has this pub only got a 6.4 rating. Last pub we visited on our little crawl only ruined by the fact that Engeeeeerland couldn't score against Israel, rubbish....the football not the pub.
Landlady rushed of her feet, seems to be being let down by some staff who can't turn up on time. Beer excellent food excellent landlady even came up to ask us if we had all ordered food as some couldn't get to the bar and be served.
Clientel of all age groups and all very friendly, no hint of trouble which you may associate with pubs showing footy, Sussex pub of the year 2007, well done.

Nice pub. Well kept beer and cider. Pool and Bar Billiards are good fun. Good place to chill out any day of the week. Last years beer fest was good and well staffed. Best pub in chi maybe? Good boozer. 8/10
Good old boozer, (went carol singung in there nearly 30 years when i was 9 ago on a Friday night and cleared up ) Full of proper drinkers only downside full of fag smoke.Roll on July...
Great pub (though it's actually spelled Chesnuts) - the beer festivals are definitely worth looking out for.
Excellent friendly pub which always has a good and changing selection of cask-ales. Local folk club adds to the atmosphere.
