Not a bad pub, but only one handpull, and that was off! Get some beer on guys, you can do better than this!

The leather-jacketed and jeans-wearing counterpart of the posh pubs nearby, I liked this pub for its DJ's music selection, its cheerful atmosphere, its encouragement to people to get up and dance. I liked it less for having three handpumps but no ale on at all - come on guys, it was a Friday night. I know we used to drink my old local dry but that was in a backstreet and this is in the smart destination area of St Paul's.

Great place to finish the night off - just don't touch anything on cask or draught!! I know many people who have been ill from the pints here - stories of "yellow-headed guinness" Stick to bottled beer though or spirits and its fine, good atmosphere and great staff.

Popped into this pub/concert venue on a lively friday evening last Nov, Was impressed to find 3 handpumps on including Wentworth "WPA" that was very good, 7/10

I've only visited on a lunchtime, but the beer was OK, the curry not bad, and while it's a bit grubby, it's not awful.

Large music driven pub with wooden floors and a number of alcoves to the right of the door as you enter. Its getting a bit scruffy and could do with a spruce up. There are four handpumps on the bar but only three were on. Springhead Roaring Meg and Puritan Porter along with Everards Sunchaser. Tried a pint of the Sunchaser, it was vinegar. Took it back and it was changed with no problem once the manager had been called. The young lad behind the bar had no idea whether it was off or not. Tried the Roaring Meg instead which was fine. The staff were all very friendly and were having a laugh and joke even though I was effectively complaining. Good background music when I was in but there was obviously going to be live music on later. Its OK, not one to go out of your way for but I didnt think it was as bad as some of the previous reviewers.

Really shocked at the bad comments - this pub's ace, the most friendly and lovely bar staff I've ever met, I went in for a quick afternoon pint and was there all night. You won't find a better atmosphere in any Brum pub, Friday & Saturdays are epically busy at the bar & the toilets aren't the best but who cares? Great venue upstairs, good choice of beer, everyone is super-friendly and you'll always hear good music downstairs or upstairs.

Im really sad that the Sundays my wife and i have spent enjoying Danny and the boys from King Pleasure have gone. We really enjoyed the gigs which often had talented guests at the open mike sessions. Why the owners did not pursue the same formula is beyond me as the pub was packed each lunchtime, now its dead, just like its forerunner The Fiddle & Bone. I do understand the gigs were free and the talented group sort fame in more prestigious & lucrative venues. But surely the management missed the broader picture, the group was pulling in the punters. Could do with a clean up, the toilets are really crap (pardon the pun). I was in during an early evening gig, and the music crowd were having a great time, a very friendly bunch. Others who obviously were not into the music were a sad looking bunch, I can imagine what the palce is like without muisc.

what a dump im suprised the enviromental health has not closed it down! how scary and filthy are the toilets, never mind the staff not 1 of them look like theyve been to bed nor had a wash.never ever will i go back to this poor excuse for a pub.best set on fire and start again.

awful beer. Nice place though.

Full of homosexuals. Enough said.

Friendly bar staff, but don't look in the toilets!!

I went to this pub the other night to see a friends band,it is the first time i have ever been upstairs ,it is quite a good venue to see local bands. My opinion is i think the beer is exellant, there are 4 cask ales on,Everards beacon, original,i only had 1 duff pint out of 6,but it is a freindly place, the barstaff seemed alright. I would come back here again for the beer and the music.

Nice pub, good music and bands on all week. Beer is average price, but quite cheap when you consider the other pubs around the corner. Young indie/rock crowd with a DJ at weekends. Nice outside terrace in the summer
|
Please clean the lines. Could be a fantastic pub if they just looked after the beer.

First time I went here, they had a middle aged band playing rolling stones and just jamming. I thought it was pretty relaxing for a Sunday night, definately a change to the other pubs I visit. Beer was over priced but was of brilliant quality! Great choice of real ales aswell, which in themselves, aren't too expensive. Staff were chatty, but seemed a bit too casual and not really that professional. Nice for quiet weekdays but I could imagine it to be too much on the weekends. 7.

Really poor place. Glasses are dirty and the staff don't look that clean either. You can get a bitter but its all a bit shoddy. The people in there are pretty filthy looking student types, a few drop outs too which makes up for the students. wouldn't bother going here again.

crap food, crap beer, moody barstaff

Great pub!!! Take a witherspoons, improve the drink, add good music, and hide it off the hustle and bustle of the main birmingham entertainment districts and hey presto a top night out!! This pub is great!!
|
Excellent real ale.
|
Great night out here, lively pub with live music upstairs a few nights each week.
