Visited this pub for the first time yesterday. I didn't know it existed. had a pint of Harvey's IPA which was very nice and steak and chips which was also good. Very much a countryman's pub as the name suggests and well worth a visit if you are travelling along the A272. Unspoilt pub in unspoilt surroundings.

Cosy little country pub, the sort of place that is a delight to find on a country walk. Long may it survive.......

Haven't visited this since it was the Blacksmiths Arms, many many moons ago. Good memories.

Visitied this pub for lunch with friends, we received a warm welcome, the staff could not have been more helpful or pleasent, the food was excellent and the ale was good. What more could I ask for?
The food was slightly dearer than the average pub but the quality and portion size comfortably made up for that. They also sell a variety of local produce at reasonable prices.

My partner and I visited the countryman for lunch today, despite a friendly welcome we were both extremely disappointed with the food , which was both bland and poorly presented. When one pays 24 for a beef/noodle salad and a steak and ale pie, one expects something a bit special, This certainly was not. The taste left in my mouth was one of extremely expensive school food.

Agree with the last comment totally such a warm friendly and cosy pub. One of the best pubs around the area.

Lovely food if a tad pricey. Beer well kept - 3 real ales on when I visited. Service was good but slightly let down by one waitress who seemed rather pre-occupied. Well worth a visit, especially of you like fish/seafood.
