Nice pub, good beer, with folk club out the back on Thursdays - but I got the distinct impression that the barman only indulges in friendly banter if you're a local. My comment (twice) that the Rebellion was on good form met with total silence.

Amazing level of swearing from the entirely male clientele. Even more amazingly, when a couple of ladies came in the swearing ratio increased rather than be diluted by their presence. Evidently there'd be a problem in Windsor the previous night involving a boyfriend and, from what I could gather, a barman daring to ask one of the ladies to keep the language under control. "Psycho!", evidently. Anyway, the beer was actually quite nice although the interior could do with a bit of TLC. The broken window above our seat did not detract from the rustic charm and as my car was still unscathed out front when we left, worthy of another mark. Only the unhinged would think of staying for another round.

Been in a couple of times, still can't really find much to get excited about, although some of my other friends seem to like it.
Nominal range of Brakspear ale in fair condition. As noted below, some of the punters seem more suited for a tourettes clinic, especially if the football's on.
There's a big skittle alley out the back, not seen it used much though.
Bird in Hand 10 minutes up the road perhaps overshadows this place in terms of an ale experience. I wouldn't particularly recommend a stop here unless you're curious.

OK pub. Clientele seem a bit young and rather downmarket (when I went to the bar to buy a round the young lady sitting on a barstool next to me shouted "F*** off!" loudly in my ear, which disconcerted me somewhat until I realised it was a loving message aimed at her boyfriend).
Two real ales, Brakspears Bitter and Oxford Gold. Intrusive canned music. Most of the customers seem to be smokers and on one occasion someone held the door open so that the smoke of all those who'd gone outside flooded into the pub.
I looked at the menu but was unable to spot any vegetarian options, which seems a little unusual.
The staff were very welcoming, as were the customers I spoke to.

Visited this pub for a big folk evening recently. The beer was excellent and the bar staff were friendly and attentive. I noticed that dogs are allowed in and some very young children were wandering about. There were some somewhat noisy people watching the footy on the box, but hey, it's a pub, innit?
The skittle alley seems to have been converted into the folk area. I don't know if they can reinstate it to order.

Stop watching and call in! Yes, the promise of last April's visit has matured. It's one of the best pints of Brakspears around. This is not your standard rao-house, there's quite a community feel at this pub on the A4 between Reading and Maidenhead. The Maidenhead Folk club meets there on Thursday evenings.

Just been taken over about a week ago and things are looking up already. I hadn't been before but collegues had and they were impresed with the changes. Good pint of Brakspear Bitter and the buffet we had was excellent. A lot to do but the new Landlord and Landlady seemed very committed. Watch this space!!
