The White Bear, Hounslow

First went here in 1969 when the Hounslow Arts Lab ran gigs here (saw David Bowie here then!). Was also venue for Grail Folk Club in early 70s, run by Downliners Sect main man Don Craine. Pub has undergone a few changes over the years, but at least it's still here, still serves proper Fullers beer, and survives as a lively, basic boozer when so many have closed down.

The Landseer, Holloway

Surly moustache man still there behind the bar four years after Gilloo commented on him! Other staff friendlier though. Agreeable pub with airy, vaguely "old/trendy" atmosphere, huge windows looking out over secluded Victorian square, and remarkable Victorian conservatory roof over dining section. Decent beer, not cheap but not too expensive for the area. Chips OK, not the greatest but a reasonable portion. A nice unexpected backstreet find but could be better.
