Seems to be returning back to a travellers pub what a shame, quite intimidating bunch.

Very poorly run we turned up for our pre-booked Christmas dinner to be told there has been a booking error and no Christmas dinner what a joke.
We had to put up with the bar menu until we complained and managed to get food from the evening menu but half the items were not available!!!!!!

Don't bother trying this pub until it changes hands again and it will based on the service we received!!

After being ignored along with the rest of the pub whilst the landlord and landlady faffed around with tables in the restaurant doing nothing but putting cutlery out until customers sick of waiting managed to attract their attention from the very important job at hand.. I was then ignored whilst those who walked on the door after me got served first as they knew the people in question. They noticed the door slam loudly on my way out after getting bored of waiting for 15 minutes for a simple drink. Will not bother going back till someone competent is in there.

Changed hands again in August. Called in for a pint of Thatchers Gold cider. Very english menu will please those that like lots of burgers, grilled meat & pies, very blokeish & needs at least one curry or something with less fat if I'm going to be tempted to eat there.

Went there with my Wife for a meal yesterday. Should have realised that a good pub is a busy one, as there were very few people in there for Sunday lunch on a beautiful day. There were a few outside tables which were covered in bird droppings that were obviously very rarely cleaned. The menu is limited - a handful of dishes including pub 'classics' and a pasta dish. I went for the 12oz steak - for 18 I was expecting it to be very, very good. It wasn't - completely overcooked, and not particularly tasty. When you compare this to the likes of the Cowdray Arms that serves exceptional food at similar prices, I can't believe they think they can get away with this. My wife went for the Chicken and Ribs, but they soon came to tell us that they were out of this, so she had to switch to something else. Every single lager (about 5 or 6 on tap) had an 'unavailable' notice on it. I went for a 275ml bottle of lager (for 2.95!), and the barman just grabbed 2 telling me it was much better value to go for 2 for 5! That's a fiver for a pint of lager, great value! All in all, a real disappointment and I will never return given how many great alternatives there are within a 10 mile radius.

Have popped in for a drink and approve of the lighter brighter decor. Nice to see a coffee shop area at the far end.

I've just re-read my review and I stand by it but what I would say is that all opinions are purely personal. What I like in a pub may not be someone else's choice. If I was asked where was good and cheap to eat this pub would not be my recommendation. I don't believe that I have made sustained attacks on the pub but I have noted when ownership/management changes. Personally I think the last landlords did more to keep it as a friendly village pub. I shall not comment any more on this place but shall leave you all to the biased and misspelt rantings of Satta.

Oh dear it would appear that Satta has a personal link with this awful 'pub'. They have posted no reviews on any other place but seem to have an enormous amount of knowledge about only one place. Travel around Satta and you will find that this place in incredibly average and over-priced. Obviously you have not spoken to any of the locals recently. One couple who have been there to eat 3 times said that twice it was mediocre and the last time was dreadful and the food was cold. This particular couple were great supporters of the last owners but have vowed not to eat there again.
If you don't like locals pubs then this is the place to go. Locals are seriously discouraged. Dull and boring people can be found behind the bar including one bloke who is nearly 70! I wonder if that is Satta? This is not a man's pub any more it's too pretentious. Go to The White Horse in Lindfield or the Stand-Up Inn in Lindfield. Proper drinks and proper punters and food.

I've not been back since the new owners took over so after reading the recent vitriolic reviews I was curious to say the least. I'm happy to say that the new regime is doing an excellent job. The building has been refurbished and redecorated throughout. The staff are friendly and attentive and although the beer selection is limited, what is available (Harveys and Bass) is well kept. The food is neither over priced nor pretentious. The menu is standard pub fare but the quality is good and the portions generous. There is also now a coffee shop attached which should help to make the place more of a focus for the village. We certainly intend to visit again. Incidentally there appears to be a green right outside the front door but being a townie I could be mistaken.

Very disappointed with 'worthit's' sustained attack on this pub.

Previous landlord took the place from being boarded up to viable pub and offered to make amends for 'worthit' seemingly disappointing night out. Worthit appears to have not only declined the hospitality of the previous landlord but also continued a vendetta on numerous website.

A normal punter would possibly give a bad review and move on.

The continued attack on The Farmers by Worthit continuing to the new landlord and the new name of Inn on The Grees suggests their may be something more than honest reviews going on here.

Previous landlord handed on far better pub than he inherited to new 'Inn on the Green'

My own view is that the new landlord is building on what he has inherited and has worked hard delivering a fully refurbished inside and out pub.

The pub is notable for beer lovers as not only delivering draft Harveys but also being the only pub in the area delivering cask Bass Ale.

Lager lovers have choice of standard priced Amstell to premium Hoegarden and Peroni.

I have used this pub for many years and I have not seen the investment being put in by the new landlord matched by anyone in my time.

Give it a try. The Inn on the Green may have cracked it for this place.

This pub no longer exists. It's name has been changed to The Inn on the Green, although where the green is nobody knows! There is no longer a dartboard or a pool table. Unfortunayely it has just become another over priced, pretentious dining place, masquerading as a village pub. Give it a very wide berth!

I can't believe it but the owner of The Farmers just had the nerve to contact me to offer a free bottle of wine if I go back there. What a joke! Has the food improved? Not from what I have heard. Have the kids all been rounded up and the landlord given a personality transplant? Improve the service and the pub instead of offering blackmail/ By all accounts they now have dogs running around the kitchen!

Great big portions of food but fairly tastless. The landlord is unpleasant and miserable and not very welcoming. Too many kids running round makes for a not very relaxing meal. Group of locals swearing at the bar very off-putting.

I am so glad I didn't take notice of the last review!!

I ate here last week on a Monday night, the chef was off so the landlady was cooking. Amazing value for money, I only paid 7.95 for homemade Moussaka with chips and fresh Greek Salad!! The Moussaka was really tasty and obviously home made (though could have been a wee bit hotter) and the salad was very generous and tasty. The young lady who waited on us was very friendly and polite. The pub was fairly quiet but what can one expect on a Monday.

I can only think that the chaos the last reviewer wrote about was simply teething problems. I understand from the waitress that they have had a complete change of staff since re-opening. I am returning with 9 friends on a Thursday and will sample a more expensive meal.

The menu has a lot of choice - all in all very good value.

I am writing following a recent visit to the Farmers Pub in Scaynes Hill. I do not normally comment about pubs after visiting, but on this occasion I feel as if I have to. I visited with my partner, our two young children and my two other members of my extended family and I was very disappointed indeed. Firstly, we were not given a warm welcome in the slightest - the sign outside said new owners, so I am guessing the woman behind the bar was the new landlady. We ordered our drinks without any friendliness from the bar maid what so ever. I then handed my card over to pay, on being handed the terminal to enter my pin I proceeded to do so, only for a large amount of money to appear on the screen, when I enquired about the amount I was told "oh you've messed it up!" in fact the bar maid had not pressed the button she was required to before handing it to me. The women behind the bar then proceed to drop the terminal on the floor and it fell into several pieces, luckily I had just removed my card! Secondly, we requested to see the menu which we were handed, and on asking for more information on the options we were met with further hostility. In reply to the question can you tell me more about the curry please?" the one word response came "chicken" I decided to persevere and order the muscles as a starter, the muscles themselves were really quite nice, unfortunately the bread that can with them was frozen in the middle! And when we took the bread back an apology was non existant. The bread was returned fresh from a microwave, and as such was very soggy and ruined the dish "muscles with crusty bread" as the bread was anything but crusty. Thirdly, I went back to the bar to order more drinks and the main course, again looking to pay with my card and this time the terminal printed a blank receipt, to which the woman responded "whats happened here?" thinking this was a rhetorical question I kept stum, until I looked up to see the terminal being thrust in my direction, " I don't know how to work this" I protested, before the woman took the machine to pieces by hand and fed the paper through another slot and then handed it back to me with a grunt. I decided to take the initiative and pressed enter to then print the customer copy. The woman snatched the terminal back and tore off this receipt. After watching her mess around trying to print another copy for what felt like an hour I said look you keep that copy and returned to our table. When the chicken curry I had ordered finally arrived it was possibly the worst pub meal I have ever tasted, the rice was watery, the sauce was clearly from a jar and actually tasted really bad and I dread to think about the chicken. If the pub is indeed under new ownership to could forgive a few mistakes, and maybe even bad food, but if you are new to the licensed trade in this day and age, surely the first thing one would want to do is ensure friendliness to customers? As I said I dont normally write to complain, but after thinking about it five people to eat with two drinks each at close to 115.00 the more and more disappointed I feel. I certainly wont be going back, and will be advising other to stay well clear.

Took my grandmother after reading othed reviews on this page. I was very pleased with the excellent food with good service. The bar area was very busy so seems popular with the locals.

Brilliant, friendly, clean. Took two ladies in their 80's for lunch and they were so delighted with the food they have made me promise to take them there again. Plus of course the dining room was laid out beatifully with linen table clothes and napkins, this means a lot to the elderly. I will be writing to the staff to congratulate them on their manners and patients, something I have never done before. This is one of the best places I have visited in ages and very reasonable in price. Please go there you won't be dissapointed.

This family run business gives the personal touch which is very rare these day. The Farmers Inn provides all the things you expect in a pub and more, I am looking forward to my next visit.

Great pub with very good facilities for all from a new games room with a pool table juke box and darts, to great food and restaurant with a huge front and back garden with childrens play area. The Farmers Inn also has good disabled access.

I can not recommend The Framers Inn enough for all ages and tastes
