Bridge Bar, Beckenhamback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Had a great time here. Lovely atmosphere, lots of fun and special mention to Butch on the door who was incredibly friendly and Miquie who served us and was equally fantastic. Great for Beckenham to have a place like this and needs supporting so I would highly recommend!

waste of money, bad bouncers,
|
An establishment which displays potential, but sadly presents its self as a real ostentatious hollow soulless venue. A first hand experiences would be the presentation of the bouncers on the door, unfortunately an unsatisfactory effort on their part. a real feeling is personified towards amateur etiquette regarding intelligence of their cliental, its a real shame for the owner of the establishment, i hope he's aware of the face of his product as its unattractive and seen as a pivotal outline of his business acumen. a franchise is what comes to mind maybe with the mentality of a dive like weather spoons, but the prices don't justify the venture. Honestly i wouldn't recommend a night out here. They have many faults one being a tendency to let too many people in resulting in a cueing system to go down stairs. sound confusing, yes i know, but if you venture down to the dance floor it may get busy. then if you were to take a stroll upstairs you may be made to queue to get back to where you were? not a well managed place, amateur in my opinion, this is the only venue where this has ever been orchestrated in my presence. in the end i waited half an hour to get back to my friends because i needed to use the lavatory. very poor show on the bridge bars attitude towards its customers. its a small venue, dwarfed by many others that don't suffer the same issues, really no excuse, just sloppiness.
Beckenham is a great night out, the beauty of the area is its simple and accessible, however Bridge Bar believes itself to be on a pedestal compared to the other venues, its really not. its just a medico club that thinks it has the assertiveness to dictate its fickle social status.

Just a quick update. Another fantastic Friday night upstairs in the Bridge Bar. Same quality music, great crowd and tuned in bar staff. The doorman at the Bridge are amongst the best in the Bromley area. They're not that expensive but I always wake up skint after a good night in here!

I visited the bridgebar on friday 26th november, The interior designing in that place was very fashionable and i had a really good time the atmosphere was fantastic, and a very affordable night out!. I will certainly be returning, I feel the other comments in regards to the bridge bar was a bit harsh and feel the doorman were firm but fair, Do we really want to go out and feel we are in a youth club surrounded but people in trainers and tracksuits??? They do not allow scum bags in there establishment which should not be regarded as a negative, also to the other people with a chip on your shoulder need to find somewhere else to go because it will be much happier place without yourself foetus and go and drink in the weatherspoon pub where you belong, ;) 10 out of 10

I did a Friday night in the bridge bar last week. As a seasoned Bromley boy and an olympic standard pisshead I thought I would give you a bit of feedback. We stood outside at about 11pm. When we got to the door the main security fella noticed that one of us had jeans on. He commented that because my mate had a smart jacket and shoes as well as jeans he would let him in. He asked that next time could he wear trousers so save any hassle. What a refreshing and sensible approach compared with a stupid policy such as the door at Bibas. Those idiots refused me entry because I had a 'soft collar', never mind the trousers, shoes and a coat that was worth more than his suit! Anyway I digress. When we got inside we had a look downstairs and it was empty so we went back upstairs. The place started filling up quite quickly with old gits my age (40's) upstairs and the young'uns downstairs. After about an hour it was very busy and the bar staff were coping well. The music was mainly old skool with a bit of club anthem thrown in. The atmosphere was really good and everybody upstairs was having a really good time with no hassle or attitude. I noticed after a while that even the people downstairs started drifting back upstairs as well. The whole night passed off without a hitch upstairs. There was a punch up downstairs but it was quickly dealt with by the security and had no effect on the evening. It was only a fiver to get in and they didn't take the piss with the drink prices either. All in all, a great night out.

DO NOT GO!! Have been to the Bridge Bar a handful of times, mainly because there is nothing else around that has an older crowd. Last night was the last time, this place has hit rock bottom (although it wasn't far from it in the first place) and I will never return. On entering we asked the door men was it busy in there the reply was it will get busier. We got to the front desk to be greeted by dumb and dumber, one taking money the other taking coats, clearly this easy public service job is to hard for them because they couldn't manage that very well. The young foetus of a boy who took the money 4 x 5.00, had such a bad attitude that at that point we even consider turning back around but unfortunetly didn't. On entering the place it was absolutely freezing cold, with everyone wearing there coats still and a handful of people in there and no atmosphere at all, After getting drinks I went back out to the reception area to ask them if they had heating on as it was freezing, foetus replyed "it's because there's not alot of people in there but I will put it on in a while", I actually couldn't believe my ears and thought he was joking!! I asked for the manager he said he was the manager. We thought we would give it the benefit of the doubt for an hour but it became hard to enjoy yourself with crap music, chattering teeth and Del Trotter trying to make a move on you! On leaving we approached the reception area again, Foetus was still there with the mute cloakroom assistant who looked like Wanetta Slob and we voiced our disappointment at paying a total of 20.00 for 1 hour to be freezing cold, he said well go then if you don't like it. My sister asked for the manager who appeared from a back door, 'but I thought you were the manager" I asked the foetus who replied " i never said that!!!" The Manager, but who knows if he was a man called Jason Orriss gave us a card when we said we wanted to make a complaint, which I have done, If this review can stop just one person wasting there money it will be worth it!!

I am NOT one the White Powder Brigade although have been to this venue a few times, but i do have mixed feelings as to The Bridge Bar. The music suits all ages due to the two different floors. Old Skool Classics upstairs, and then Funky House & Garage downstairs. However.......... If you want a place that is FULL of IM GOD thinking Doorman then this is the place to visit. They are VERY picky with the guys that go, and the power of being "The Doorman" goes to their heads. If the face doesnt fit, you are not getting in. Girls most ages get in due to the lack of clothes that they can look at. The license that Doorman / Supervisor's should hold, just allows these to be Licensed Thugs. Atmosphere is generally good, although be prepared to be pushed and shoved alittle throughout the night as they completely use every spare inch of floor space packing people in. Word of mouth is their biggest advertising tool, but with the attitude of these Thugs it is quickly losing its appeal!!!!!!!!

Went here this weekend and it is a great place it sucks of attitude, full of happy white powder and scum, god help the world, they encourage your life style and let it all go on, dont care, then as we left the doormen had beat the life out of some scum bag who had been in there, police everwhere, ambulance the lot, god help the world, there is one great thing about his place all the scum from the locality congregate here ! its only a matter of time before its langtrys trash again, it actually alredy is, tota; scum trash chav wanna be venue, honestly

Well I agree with the lady below. The Bridge Bar is fantastic! Free to get in before nine, drinks reasonably priced. Fiver after nine, that to me is good value compared to a sleazy place in Dartford that charges alot more. The guys are generally well dressed and cleanshaven and not slimey. It has two dance floor younger music downstairs and older music upstairs. This is great because you get the choice and this makes the evening more enjoyable in my book. I am an older lady, but don't act old!! The Bridge Bar is not full of kids and we oldies can have some fun, without going to grab a granny type places like the one in Westerham for the old fossils! The bouncers are friendly and approachable. I love the Bridge bar!!!!!!

As usual, people only bother to write something on these sites if they are narked! So I thought I would say in defence of the Bridae Bar, I like the fact that guys have to make an effort- it's not a time warp, just a policy that goes a long way to making it a cool, smart place to be. The staff are always friendly (don't you guys bother to read the policies?!)and the service is as quick as anywhere where it's heaving on a Friday & Saturday night! The music is great- really fab dance tunes- we hit the floor and don't stop. Yes, ok, there are drunks- but there are everywhere, the doormen seem to do a good job. We love it. Well done Bridge Bar- and as we are ladies of more than 35 it's great to be made to feel comfortable and have a chance of not dancing with a bunch of 16 year olds. I can't imagine why other businesses haven't bought into the 30-plus clubbers scene, it's a goldmine. Long may it continue.

This is the sort of place which would not exist if there was a decent nightclub in Beckenham for people over the age of 19. First of all, we have the antiquated door policies. With shirts and shoes mandatory for guys, you'll feel as though you've walked through a timewarp and popped up in the mid-90s. Turn up in a smart jumper and trainers and be prepared to be turned away. Secondly, the DJs generally suck. The guy who has DJ'd downstairs on a Saturday every time I've been there simply cannot mix two records together. They play OK music but there's no technique there. Thirdly, considering the bad music and the mid-90's door policy, it's actually not all that good and pricey for what it is. It's anachronistic and the only thing I liked was all the pictures of bridges.

What a come down for this place, 3 months ago I went there with 2 guys & 3 girls, all ranging from 35 to 43 & very well dressed, we were turned away because my black friend was wearing brand new Timberland boots! Then last weekend I went down there after Rascasse with 3 guys, again smartly dressed, yet again we were turned away, why? Because I was the only one wearing a 'collar', what a load of crap, we were informed it had been in force for a few weeks, "Collars only lads" is what baldy fat bloke on the door muttered! Well cant you give people a little grace in these matters, wasnt it noted that some of us may have been wearing a t-shirt, but an Armani suit over the top as well! Had we all turned up in dog collars would that have gained us entry!? We are all in 40k + jobs, we never go out without 300 in our wallets, and these muppets turn us away! Do they think that a 'collar' will subdue a persons temper or anger if the wrong guy should look at his Barbie girlfriend? Think again Bridge Bar, you have just lost 6 of your customers, and a few more to follow once I put the word around. You are better of going to Blackheath, no such nonsense there!

Thought we'd try this place out last Friday night on a recommendation. The decor and style of this place is great, looks very cool, and some money has clerly been clearly spent to make it look like an attractive modern place to go. It's definitely a new take on club interiors. Sadly the attitude of the staff is far from modern, particularly the neandertals 'on the door' wandering around dragging their knuckles doing their best to look intimidating. This is an attitude that I thought had dissapeared, (it certainly doesn't exist in any of the decent places in London, may be it's a suburban thing!). They've clearly 'ideas above their station'. As has been mentioned in previous reviews, not really the place you can really 'go for it', the music and crowd was quite mediocre, and they could probably do with letting in some of the more casually dressed types they were constantly turning away at the door.

I went here last friday & had a brilliant night. Fought the music was excellent & not all the crappy clubby music that you hear when you go out - which i think is a load of shite. Theres nothing better then listening to all the old tunes - that you can have a good old boogie to - even played frankie knuckles "tears" - it was rocking, thought it had quite a classy clientelle & a sensible age group. I will definately be making a trip down there again in the not to distant future!.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!
Ive just got home and Im so pee'd off that the 1st thing I wanted to do was come on here and enter a review. I have never been to this bar but Ive heard sooooooo much about it through friends and colleges and I was expecting a truely oustanding night........... how wrong could I have been? Rude staff, crap music hence crap Dj's, and in my opinion, extremely over rated and full of w***ers! Not the sort of place you would want to spend your weekends people. Take my advice and go a little further afield if you want a good night.
|
I agree bridge has lost it, spent a few hours in there friday before moving on to bar flux which at seven quid to get in (and heaving with female talent) was well worth it compared to this dive. If being surrounded by wanna be gangsters thinking their something special is your scene then this place is right up your street!

After being a bit of a regular to this bar over the last year I am disappointed to say it has gone extremely down hill over the last few months (mainly since the opening of the so called "vip bar" down stairs. I went Saturday night hoping that things might have returned to the way they were before the christmas festivitys but was hugely let down. The music (along with the aging DJ's!) has dried up and the atmosphere is now very pretentious. But then I guess they need to fill the place up what with the extra space downstairs and hence the any old rif raff getting in. The bouncers and bar staff seem to have got very above them selves and have developed the biggest attitudes! What happened to the happy and friendly staff of last summer?? The 5 to get in used to be a small price to pay to get into a great bar however now Im afraid I wouldn't go there if it was free. Such a shame as this place was the place to go in Beckenham for a quality night out last year, looks as though we will be going else where from now on.

I came here Saturday night (15th July) with some mates and have been a few times on a Saturday night in 2005. If youre a big fan of cheese and "old classics", then Bridge Bar is right up your street and presumably is why it attracts the "older clientele", as Beveley76 puts it. There is no real dance floor and no chance to create one given how packed it gets, despite a DJ being present orchestrating the blaring music. I didn't enjoy Bridge Bar for this reason and I am also not a fan of the type of music they play for the majority of the night. A few female talent around though, so not too bad for the H-File search! Though overall would you want to spend Saturday nights in Beckenham? It is just a bit limited when it comes to variety and atmosphere I feel, especially compared to town and city centres away from London.

Well, I love it. I mean, Ok it is busy at the weekends but would you really want to go somewhere that was dead on a Friday or Saturday night. I must admit I was a little shocked last Saturday when me a friend tried to get in for nothing just before 10pm and they'de changed it a week or so before to free before 9pm, which I think is abit cheeky as if go before 9pm you spend untold money at the bar so now i'm going to have to pay all the time. I think they should do a membership scheme or something like they used to do at Langtrys for their regulars.
The only other drawback of this place is that the drinks are so expensive. But other than that, for me I save so much in cab fares, because it's local and I think it's a much better atmosphere and is of an older clientele, both unlike O'Neills across the road (that was for Simon!) so it definatley gets my vote!

Opened Summer 2005. Square Bar taking up most of the available area. They pack people in like sardines. I was in there Saturday night, had to pay a fiver for the privilage, although they have a DJ it is impossible to dance as it's so rammed. Bar staff are unable to recognise that you have been at the bar a while. Ended up buying two drinks at a time. The queue for the toilets were just as bad for both men and women - there simply aren't enough for the volume of people.
Would suggest a visit to O'Neills across the road for a much better night out and it's free.
