Nice 1930s corner pub in residential area. Community pub.

Staying at the Ramada Encore on the A40, popped down for a quick pint. Very cheery barman and just what we needed - a decent Guinness for 3 and a comfortable sit down for a bit. We were asked if we'd be coming back in for St. Patrick's Day celebrations, and probably would have done had we not been off to Norway the next morning; it felt as though it might be a pretty decent place to be that night! Will be back when we're next in the area..

A gem of a find, very old school in style but that's what I liked about it, a pub full of charm and not hijacked by the big chains. Landlady was friendly and I felt very comfortable in this pub as I was a stranger in town for the day. I remember the people being in the pub on the day I was there were either locals or Irish (the landlady is Irish too), so it's almost like a mini Irish pub.
Recommended, quaint and a great wee pub.

What a dump. I can undertsand why the locals all sit at the bar - the other seating is filthy. On the plus side, the landlord is very friendly and welcoming, but it's a shame there are no decent beers available - just an okay Guinness and lots of carbonated cat's urine passing itself off as branded lager. They've started a quiz night to try to attract more people in but they'd be better off getting the basics right first.

This is a locals pub with friendly team of staff, they are trying to get the place filled using quiz nights and music at week-ends. At the moment they are selling beers for 2 a pop so give it a go.

Nipped in here just Friday gone 27.03.09 as found it on this site. Just nipped down on me jacks as I'm into pool and had a good time. Even beat a couple of the locals! Lol! There is also another bar, just for chilling out which seemed very comfortable. I went there for the pool and competitive it is! Nice Irish traditional boozer and you are made to feel welcome. My Dad managed Pubs like this and always a buzz to be around a place like 'the gaff'. Staff are a bit thin on the ground, The Ladlord says he is working on getting more people in but given the 'economic downturn' I can't blame him. You just order anyway, and they do a good Guiness and he gives you a friendly call when your beers are ready. A nice place :)

Gastro, pine-floored, turquoise-ceilinged wine-bar this ain't but, as my fellow-reviewers point out, this is a pubber's pub. Sport beams from the screens, some folks look like they're registered to vote from there, and a glorious waft of diesel sometimes enters via the door to the beer-yard by the busy Great Western railway. Staff friendly and attentive; age-range reassuringly wide; some sort of table-based games visible on the south side. That yard, by the way, is no leafy rural nook. We are talking Kraftwerk industrial revolution soundtrack as the London-bound HSTs try to reach 125 mph without then slamming into the buffers at Paddington. Acton Main Line station very handy, though train-services are being constructively degraded so that some grandee can turn around one day and close it for alleged lack of demand. Buses 266 and 260 (the latter northbound only) pass, as does most of London's other traffic, it sometimes seems.

Been going to this pub for years too many in fact very friendly staff been out drinking with a few of them when the pub closes. Landlord and Landlady are really nice so are the kids apart from the fact that they support Chelsea!

This used to be a real dump and seriously rough place, we had a pitch at the playing fields in Noel Rd across the way, so this was our nearest postgame watering hole, and it was a hole back then too, so we never stayed long !!!
Have known the current owners (and their sons) for a few years now through the local pool league and they are top people and have really turned the pub around, good beer and friendly service and if youre looking for a good game of pool this is the place to play !!!!

this pub is ok. bit boring. not that friendly - but it aint the bronx.

Ignore these Philistines. Apart from the fact that there are far rougher parts of Acton (let alone London) than this, it's a pub that just oozes character. Physically it resembles a huge Dairylea slice partitioned off in the middle to form two parts. Yes there are men drinking guiness and watching the horse racing but so what. It's better than having football on constant rotation surely. Good for: A few cheeky jars.

Unreconstructed Irish pub, full of old men watch the racing and supping Guinness. Chief advantage is it's right opposite Acton Mainline station, hence a story we were told of someone arriving in Acton for the first time some years ago. He got to the top of the station steps and spotted the pub. Immediately, there was a loud commotion and the door was flung open. A man staggered back from the door, clutching his forehead, as blood streamed down. At the door, another man admonished, "And stay ****ed off!" then marched back in. Welcome to Acton!
