The George & Dragon was the first of 11 Shropshire pubs my wife and I trawled around yesterday. It's a nice olde worlde building on the High Street with a cosy front bar and a dining area at the rear. Ales were fairly mainstream - Morland Old Golden Hen, St Austell Tribute, Hobsons Best & Greene King Abbott. No real cider is served. The young barman overcharged me. But it wasn't deliberate. Clearly a place for locals and their dogs.

Disappointing that none of the excellent local brews available. St Austell Tribute was ok.

Great little pub with great selection of proper beer.... 6X, Tribute, Doom Bar, Abbot & Youngs... 6X on fine form. A change to find a pub these days with classic beers rather than the usual run of the mill poorer quality so called "Locale" often found these days.

I popped in here for a quick one on a visit to the area and had a very nice pint of Doom Bar
It's a real, proper pub. Very old and a bit knocked about but all the better for it. Food is available but it's definitely not gastro thank God.
This is the way pubs were meant to be and long may it remain so.

This really is a little gem. Every time I visit this little town I always pop in here. Great beer and great food. Highly recommended.

Always a favourite on a visit to Much Wenlock, cronky old door split down the middle, that probably has never stopped a draught, to let you straight in off the street into a quarry tile floored room with old fireplace facing you across wooden chairs and tables and settles all the way around the walls. To the right is the bar facing out to the front with a standing area between it and the window, all beamed with a little fireplace in the corner. There are further beamed timbered dining rooms to the back.
Once saw the new landlady trying to stop a drunk local from singing rugby songs in the front, quite amusing at the time, saying she had some diners in the back paying good money. Quite a reasonable request but then it is a pub, in a rural small market town/village, and not good enough money if they couldn't afford to go to a restaurant, I wonder if she managed to attract the locals back in the winter?
All that aside this is an excellent pub and it seemed to have a good crowd in. Very good atmosphere and excellently kept St Austells Tribute and Coors Brains Mitchell and Butlers Brew X1 i think. The village is a gem too.

Fantastic traditional pub in a picturesque village that's well worth going out of your way to visit. It's very cosy and full of low beams, tankards, Victorian fireplaces and other bric-a-brac in the front bar which is the main drinking area. On the ale front there's Wadworth's 6X, Abbot Ale and 3 guests. All the beer i tried was very well kept. To the rear are restaurant rooms that are similarly traditional and unspoilt, with the wall panels featuring old crests and coats of arms. The food is priced at a level you'd think was simple pub grub but it wouldn't be out of place in a top restaurant- one of the best pub meals I've had. All served with a smile. A classic English country pub that I hope to return to.

Excellent traditional pub in an unspoilt village.

Wonderful, friendly pub. A real gem.

Lovely village pub with a choice of real ales in a cosy atmosphere. Had a Hobsons and a Titanic beer. The outside seating area looked as though it would be pleasant in the summer.

Market Town pub with a village feel. Good atmosphere with friendly staff. Ales excellent quality with Green King IPA, Landlord, Hobson's Town Crier and Hobgoblin on tap. Busy Saturday lunchtime. Could get smokey. Menu a little pretentious for my personal taste, with too many fancy sauces. Ordered a ploughman's and received a cheese sandwich with salad and pickle onion. Food though very good.

Superb pub of the type that are fast disapearing. Beer is the best i,ve tasted. Food is good. Friendly atmosphere.

I visit this pub whenever i have to travel back from head office in the south east to my home in north wales. It is the quintessential English pub. Good beer, excellent food and lovely staff and regulars. the only problem is that i can only drink a pint as there are another 80 miles to travel before i get home.
Can you move it closer to caernarfon please?

What a wonderful example of the sort of village pub I thought had disappeared a long time ago. Excellent beer and friendly staff
