Happy Days... Two cracking beers on last visit; 'Titanic Black ice' a well hopped beer.. although a contradiction, almost a black IPA.. Then a real treat 'Exmoor Beast' a rich, complex and heady brew, and a real beast @ 6.6%.

A decent Wetherspoon with well-kept ale. 7/10.

Another fantastic Real ale festival going on as I post this... Runs 13th - 29th March 2015. Set up in a marquee in the garden. We sampled around 5 beers, with the two memorable ones being Rudgate Milk Stout (4.2% abv) and a really heft pale ale originally from South Africa (brewed as a guest by Batemans) Shongweni Durban Pale ale (5.7% abv). Get down there!

Just tasted ‘Devils Backbone American IPA,’ a draft rather than cask ale served chilled... The die hard real ale lovers may not like it, but it's a really nice pint...

Another great beer!!! Jack D’Or or Saison Americain... Lovely hoppy beer @ 6.5 abv - very bitter... When I tried this on a Tuesday night in November 2013 every table was occupied... Don't fancy some of the other town center pubs chances, but hard to argue with beer this good at this price.

Just thought I'd mention a beer on tap Wed 25th June 2013... Cleopatra 5.0% from the Derventio Brewery in Derbyshire. One of the best beers I've ever tasted!
|
Some really good ales last week... Jaipur IPA @ 5.9 volume is a lovely drink. Really nice Rock mild as well.
|
Great range of real ales and half decent food too... Gets a mix of older drinkers and students so balance is pretty good

Of all the JD Wetherspoons I have visited, I think this is one of the best. It's no gastro/real ale pub, but it's cheap, the staff seem efficient enough, and it has a good range of beer that are kept better than the JD average.
The customers here seem slightly less interested in simply getting smashed compared to the JD norm, most using it as a normal pub which is nice.
The outdoor area is okay in the summer.

Busy on a Thursday afternoon (market on in town). Good selection of beers (it's in the Good Beer Guide) and the one I had was served well. Seems like a good Wetherspoons.
|
Really quite decent Wetherspoons. Huge range of ales and the quality of the food was actually very good. Atmosphere is always a little odd in these places but the bar staff were very friendly and helpful
|
An excellent Wetherspoon's - polite, quick service, a nice little open air seating area at the back and a cheap, superb real ale. Top marks!

Reviewing Wetherspoons pubs such as the generic Moon and Bell is becoming about as stimulating as counting sheep, but at least the efficient service I encountered here lends something that resembles a bit of character. Quite cramped conditions, a peculiar smell - a composite of sweat stained clothes and cheap disinfectant, and an average age range of 45 - 55 were the only other impressions I came away with. Range and quality of beers were as you'd expect, though I should mention that on a bustling early Friday evening our party were served with ordered food well within ten minutes. That's not such a common experience when you think about it.

Bog-standard Wetherspoon pub here. When I went in the food was OK, and the beer was well-kept. Sure the place could use a lick of paint and a new carpet, but all the same I'd be happy to reccommend this place. It is a very small pub so be aware of the fact that you may struggle to get a table.

Typical JD Wetherspoon pub. Cheap prices, decent booze and ok food.
Only complaint is the slow service, and the constant requests for ID.
|
Lots of seating, although it fills up pretty quickly(or had done by the time I got there!). Did have a lovely pint called "Dreadnought" from Nottingham there though.
|
Good beer and food, staff are good, could do with a bigger bar though, takes ages to get served!
|

A marvellous establishment with hard working, pleasant staff, especially Tony Tudor

On the beer front this is probably the second best pub in Loughborough, as they actually serve some very good beer (as well as the usual selection of fizzy lagers etc.)
Prices are very competitive, but it's always very busy so get there early for a seat. Good to sit outside on a hot summer night.
