Three ales available when I called -- Hog's Back TEA; Surrey Hills' Shere Drop; and the ubiquitous Doom Bar. I had the Shere Drop and it was very nice thank you. The food (sandwiches) was okay but not much choice for non-carnivores. All in all, definitely better than on my last visit a few years ago.

The reason why this place is not 'bursting at the seams' is beer quality, plain and simple. My pint of King John yesterday was 'tired' and the fact someone's motorcycle had been stolen from outside (on Christmas Eve - wankers) probably doesn't help trade either. But the place is decent enough as a hotel bolthole, but falling short as a 'walker's quick stop' for great beer. It's OK. 6 out of 10.

Always find this place very welcoming and staff mostly friendly its normally my turn to drive when we come here so only on soft drinks but my wife is always complementary about the wine, food is good and we love the location this is local to us and we use it once/twice a month.

What a fantastic pub this is! It is an oasis in the sea of average pubs. It has a warm, welcoming feeling, the staff were great, especially the Polish waitress who served us. We felt very welcome and so was our little dog, he was even offered a bowl of water. There was a formal dining room which looked beautiful but we decided to eat in the bar (no dogs in the dining room) which was great. Plenty of local people, nice atmosphere and great food which was very reasonably priced. Why this place was not busting at the seams with people I just don't know but we will definitely be regulars here.

Really lovely pub/hotel. Garden is wonderful and spacious. The food is top notch ( and they are a member of the Gourmet Society :) ) so there is a discount available if you have a card. Staff are wonderful, as is the restaurant and bar.
Really is an oasis in this area and deserves much success.

Changed hands recently (April) made the pub into a less relaxing space but more like a pub having painted over alot of the dark wood and put in wooden tables and chairs. The comfy bit is in the front hallway!!Got a posh restaurant attached now where you can eat (Bit pricey but good food)

This used to be the home of David Lloyd George, and it still feels as though you are intrduding into someone's living room! It is quite an experience, but best savoured when there is nothing on that will bring the TV in! There are very few places where you can sit and read one of the pub's own books, by a roaring fire, and only buy one pint all evening! It is a real find, and well worth the visit.

TV has now gone!!! Fantastic!
Its back to how it used to be which is a great relief.
Still good and well kept beer although the bar staff didn't seem particularly interested in serving us.
Can't have it all I suppose. . . .

Everything said about the pub above WAS true. Unfortunately since March 2006 the pub has changed and now has a wide screen TV, karaoke and Friday night disco, so has lost almost all its ambience. The decor is still unusual and they still do food but it is not the same.

PRIDE OF THE VALLEY PUB. ************************ Where have you been..?! You must check this pub out! It feels a bit like an old-fashioned hotel when you walkin, thats because it is! Then you find yourself by a log-fire in someone's living room, and theres someone reading a book on the sofa from one of the copious book-shelves! Never mind that, move on through to the bar area, and you've arrived..!! Dragon lovers will not be disappointed! And the beers not bad either. They have a separate restaurant (all dark wood panels, etc) & you can book a table for lunch, but don't... stay in the bar area the foods just as good (only cheaper)! And its a lot nicer/brighter in the bar, with more character. I love the area around Churt. This pub boasts Lloyd George (one time Premier of England) as a previous loyal patron! I havn't seen Tony Blair or Gordon Brown there on any of my recent visits.. maybe thats a good thing! An added bonus is the extraordinary 'Sculpture Park' immediately opposite this pub, which is well worth a visit during daylight hours (in good weather) give yourself over an hour to see all the outdoor sculptures, then if its warm, return to 'The Pride' pub for another drink to relax & appreciate the wondrous works of art just experienced!! A FANTASTIC WAY TO SPEND AN AFTERNOON !! I can't believe this pub hasn't had more reviews. You must experience it if you're ever in the Farnham area! That's an order..! You will want to come back again & again (either to the pub, or the sculpture park..!) That's it, I've blown their trumpet enough now! I'm getting thirsty.. TJ

This is an interesting pub with great potential, and worth a visit. The atmosphere is nice with candles etc. Shame they have to put food place mats on EVERY table - discouraging for non-eaters. Need to make sure they top every pint up. Beer very good. Not eaten there.

I take it all back. There is now a wide screen tv installed which completely ruins the atmosphere with the barmaids playing their favourite music channels.
This may only be for the football world cup that is on at the moment, but if it stays beyojnd that I won't be going back.

A really excellent pub/hotel with some unusual decor in the form of metal sculptures on the theme of dragons.
The food is excellent, the locals friendly and the atmosphere conducive to a quiet few pints with friends. No loud music and a couple of real ales kind of tops this off nicely!
