Three ales available when I called -- Hog's Back TEA; Surrey Hills' Shere Drop; and the ubiquitous Doom Bar. I had the Shere Drop and it was very nice thank you. The food (sandwiches) was okay but not much choice for non-carnivores. All in all, definitely better than on my last visit a few years ago. priestleysj - 20 Mar 2012 16:36 |
The reason why this place is not 'bursting at the seams' is beer quality, plain and simple. My pint of King John yesterday was 'tired' and the fact someone's motorcycle had been stolen from outside (on Christmas Eve - wankers) probably doesn't help trade either. But the place is decent enough as a hotel bolthole, but falling short as a 'walker's quick stop' for great beer. It's OK. 6 out of 10. pkrp - 5 Jan 2011 22:41 |
Always find this place very welcoming and staff mostly friendly its normally my turn to drive when we come here so only on soft drinks but my wife is always complementary about the wine, food is good and we love the location this is local to us and we use it once/twice a month. giveusabeer - 18 Aug 2010 10:12 |
What a fantastic pub this is! It is an oasis in the sea of average pubs. It has a warm, welcoming feeling, the staff were great, especially the Polish waitress who served us. We felt very welcome and so was our little dog, he was even offered a bowl of water. There was a formal dining room which looked beautiful but we decided to eat in the bar (no dogs in the dining room) which was great. Plenty of local people, nice atmosphere and great food which was very reasonably priced. Why this place was not busting at the seams with people I just don't know but we will definitely be regulars here. bigpond - 6 Feb 2010 07:02 |
Really lovely pub/hotel. Garden is wonderful and spacious. The food is top notch ( and they are a member of the Gourmet Society :) ) so there is a discount available if you have a card. Staff are wonderful, as is the restaurant and bar. Really is an oasis in this area and deserves much success. chapchap27 - 7 Jul 2009 14:55 |
