Walked in. Eyes ran. Like being in a BBQ pit. Walked out. Eyes cleared.

his pub is such a gem. Delighted to have this just up the road from the office. We come pretty much every Friday lunch. The food is great, high quality pub grub.
It's more expensive than the other pubs in the area, but the food is spot on, the staff are fantastic & the manager is charming. Before Christmas we had a problem with one of our orders which resulted in three meals being sent back. We then didn't have time to eat our lunch and had to leave before it arrived on the table. We left unhappy, hungry and disappointed. We got back to the office and five minutes later the manager turned up with our burgers in take away boxes & an invitation to come back for a free lunch!
We were so impressed a group of us went back for dinner that very night.
Terrific!

To reassure Derek on his posting, we will be continuing to use our independent ale suppliers and are actually introducing more including Thwaites, Windsor & Eton, Itchinwood brewery, bristol beer Factory to mention a few.
Of course occasional GK beers will make an appearance such as Speckled hen but will not dominate the range and will continue to change on a regular basis

This is a great pub. Bar staff a quick and friendly. The food is second only to the Queen Victoria down the road but 1/2 the price.

Sexy waitress called Kasia!

Changed for the better & now dont feel like i'm takeing my life in my hands for a pint. Bit Burger & a couple of real ales always on tap, a tad on the expensive side though. Food looks good but again on the expensive side. Only complaints would be the smell of the kitchen some times & the bland music, but overall a great little pub for a cheeky pint.

Changed almost out of recognition since my last visit, but it does offer a slightly more hospitable experience than I recall previously. Yes, it has been gastro-ified, but there was nothing wrong with my pint of Harveys. Feels slightly out of place amongst the rough mixture of shops along the Uxbridge Road, but not a bad place to stop for a beer before going to a gig at Bush Hall.

I could not disagree more with the review below. The relaxed atmosphere in the Adelaide is the reason I go back, the staff could not be more friendly and the beer is always great.
While I have not eaten in the dining room I have eaten in the bar a few times and it has been fine, the food is hearty and the regularly changing menu always has something that you want. The bar snacks are also a good cheaper option with homemade scotch eggs and sausage rolls for a couple of quid.
They will also take suggestions of ales that you would like to see. This is a pub for beer drinkers and diners alike.

Poor service and Poor quality and portions of food for the price being paid.
Staff although very friendly, are very laid back and slacking off far too much with casual clothed people hanging around the staff and work areas chatting and not working.
Good for a drink and friendly chat with an obliging barman but bad for everything else.

3 beers available on Friday afternoon including Harveys' Sussex and Sambrooks Wandle Bitter at 3.20 which was excellent. I liked the pub and the terrace at the front - despite it being right next to a busy bus stop. Would certainly visit again if in the area,

Gastro pub in a stripped out but vaguely traditional style that is two-a-penny these days. Yeah, it suits the demographic they're aiming for (young, urban B & C1) but it's hardly revolutionary.
Beer is good, but food was expensive. Well, I think 13 to eat in a pub on the Uxbridge Road is expensive anyway.

Reopened under new management as a gastropub and undergone massive refurbishment. Traditional yet retro, the decor with its big print wallpaper, crystal chandeliers, mish mash of wooden tables and chairs and comfy leather sofas makes the place feel homely and welcoming. The focus is now on fresh, seasonal dishes and a regularly changing list of real ales. Menus alter daily but include the likes of mediallion of pork belly with portobello mushroom, spinach & mash or chargrilled ribe-eye steak with garlic butter slow roasted tomatoes & hand cut chips. Friendly management and staff - well worth a visit. Also, there's a terrace at the front opening in March.

used to be a bit of a shithole but had decent beer and food at decent prices. How it could get even more crappier is beyond me. over priced drink and food and more staff than customers, i have never felt more guilty leaving a pub with no custom in all my life. still the beer was vile and flat so I simply went to one of the better pubs within 2 minutes walk.
|
I have been here a few times now and it is easily the best pub in the area. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, all drinks well kept and the food that I have had has been great too. Well worth a visit.

Since this place has been refurbished, I have been in for a few drinks on my way home from work, and it truly is a great change. It is a great atmosphere, with hanging lamp shades, comfy lounge, and an old antique feel to the place. The service from the Aussie chap at the bar was terrific as was the blonde girl in the restaurant. There is an opened planned kitchen and a lovely dining area with candle light surrounding the tabletops. Defiantly a place to take the family on Sunday for a roast, meals range from 5.90 - 14.50, but really a satisfying meal. Thank you for what you've done with the place, it sure did need it.

Yep, reports can be confirmed, its now a Gastro pub perhaps a rival for the Princess Victoria across the road?
|
Reopened - only passing by - looks very fancy, so a change of clientle form those mentioned below, and I doudt there will be many brawls; bouncers on door on Sat night 6.30.
|
4 December, should I say. The Coleherne is 5 December.
|
Being renovated and reopening on 5 December. Apparently will be open plan like so many pubs these days.
|
Nothing really wrong with it, you can easily spend few hours here and have a good cheap night. But sometimes the beer it really really off, i.e. watered down, and if you go here very often you will see/be part of a 20 man brawl. Thats just the kind of pub it is, violent and working class, but at the same time very welcoming.
|
Before this pub became my local, thus earning iself a couple of visits, I'd put it down as one of those places on Uxbridge Road best avoided. Sure, it's very much a working man's pub with a not-especially-classy clientele but I've never noticed any bad atmosphere within. It's cheap (2.85 for a Heineken), bright and spacious and they have plenty of screens for sport.
There are probably plenty of people who will be put off by the chavvy nature of most of the punters (as I was before I went) but it's really just a regular pub dishing up drinks at decent prices. The food menu was equally cheap but I'd be willing to bet that would be reflected in the quality.
I'll go back because it's at the bottom of my road but it's not the best pub in the area.
|
Punts out lager at 2 a pint which is cheaper than anywhere else around here and appeals to the pre-Rangers crowd. The pation outside is Bazra-esque as it's not unheard of for it to go off with rival fans before or after games. Men's toilets hum but that aside, just about bearable if only for a cheap pint.

wouldnt get me near the place on a QPR match day even with a gun to my head!

Large big pub full of bloody-ruddy men. You'll be refused service on football days if you're not wearing Burberry. Probably.
Seems to attract more than its fair share of trouble too. Or maybe it's its fair share.

99p night on Mondays! Kareoke, Live Singer, Disco - Thursday, Friday & Saturdays! Hardcore drinkers pub!

It would be a lot nicer if it had real ale, but it's relaxed and has plenty of room. This is a bit what the Hop Poles was like before it became a PubCo gimmick. It is certainly better than the other pubs along Uxbridge Road (possibly excepting the Askew Arms at one end and the White Horse at the other).
