As of 26/06/2021 the pub is boarded up.Wether it will be demolished along with the Brentford Football ground as the pub is very famously located on the corner along with a pub on the other three corners or wether it is struggling due to covid I do not currently know. All I can say is if it does reopen hopefully it will attract a better class of barstaff and customers as this pub was the pits.At one time it was a half decent place, recently it was the most unwelcoming dive within a 5 mile raduis of Brentford. My last visit resulted in an uncomfortable wait at the bar while the barmaid hunted for her mobile phone in her handbag and by the time she had found it and sent a text a very unfriendly looking goon came to the bar.She clearly knew the goon and served the twonk first whilst laughing despite knowing I had been waiting and the goon had a "I've got a load of mates with me what you going to do about it" look so I vacated the premises and won't return.I obviously won't be able to if it has shut permanantly but that will be no great loss.It will no longer be part of the only football club in the land to have a pub on each corner and if it can't be run properly good riddance to it.

There are Downs Syndrome Mongoloids in there-beware.

as an away fan i found this to be a very rough and intimidating, you have to fight your way in to get through the front doors as everyone is outside them smoking and swearing. and then once inside everything gets worse, the pub is filthy the beer is horrible and the staff are not very welcoming. would never come to this pub again, worse of the 4. do not go here

This is not only the worst pub in Brentford i'd also say the worst in Middlesex. Before entering this pub you have the navigate past the moronic chavs standing in the doorways. These morons usually offer some idiotic "banter" with people as they enter which is less than pleasant. The pub has been under new management which only seems to have welcomed back people that were barred before. As an example i've been to this pub 3 times and i've seen a fight everytime.
Another nice touch is from the smokers standing outside blocking the footpath and throwing their dog ends on the floor.
AVOID this pub!

Large pub with a rather spartan interior and few places to sit. However, pre-match you're not really expecting to get comfortable and I've not tried post-match yet. What is good to see is a realistic compliment of staff ensuring that you're served fairly quickly - essential if you want to neck one down close to kick off. I couldn't see myself spending an extended evening here but as a functional venue it's fine - of course, you're spoilt for choice around the ground and others have a better vibe.

the worst pub of the four.
yeah i guess its all down what goes in the till with fullers owning it i worked in this pub years ago and have to say was one of the most depressing places to work and i worked in a lot of great london pubs in my time think fullers just dont bother just grab the money on match days.

Did the 'Brentford Corners' crawl with a Southampton fan before and after the game yesterday. Started with the Princess Royal. I have to say I wasn't overly impressed - the pub itself was obviously designed for the match, with all the furniture ripped out to make one massive room.
The crowd in the pub didn't feel very welcoming, and they had unfortunately run out of Chiswick on keg, meaning I had to resort to London Pride, which didn't go down all that well.
I wasn't massively impressed with the service either - I appreciate on a match day it's always going to be busy, but surely they should have had more than three people behind the bar! On the positive, the bar staff tried to keep smiling, even under the glare of twenty thirsty football fans baying for beer.
It would be interesting to see what this was like on a non-match night, but I'm not convinced it would be all that much better. I'd definitely rank it 3rd out of the 4 corners.

Yes, you definitely should have gone to the Griffin!
Found myself in Brentford so I thought I'd satisfy myself that the famous fact about Griffin Park's four corner pubs remains the case. Two of those pubs are owned by Fuller's (based just up the road in Chiswick) and for some reason I passed up the attractive-looking Griffin to go in the Princess Royal. The pub is well down the Fuller's food chain, one feels: it has a sparsely furnished look common to lots of football pubs (presumably to facilitate standing room on match days) and the only draught ale was two handpumps dispensing Pride, which is as bad as it gets for Fuller's. Very much a local's pub, I felt, and not enormously welcoming. I didn't think much of the pubs of Brentford, and doubt I'd return unless my team were away at Brentford: if I did I doubt I'd head to the Princess Royal.

what a kip of a pub bull dozer only cure for this
I always like going in here pre match. Good atmosphere, packed out and usually very swift friendly service. Would like to see a couple of other hand pumped ales though to add to the Pride.
Only Pride on handpump (although it was pretty good) Keg Chiswick and bottles of ESB, Discovery and Honeydew. Separate doors for Public and Lounge bars but it is all one big room. Seemed friendly enough and not bad for a pre game pub.
Packed pre-match. Loads of staff on. First pint was last out of the barrel but no problems getting it exchanged and the replacement was clear and in good order as was the next...
Popped in here for a couple before the match yesterday. Staff very friendly, pub clean and the locals were a good bunch. Even when the place got full nearer to kick off the service was still fast. All in all a very enjoyable visit. I will definately be back!
found this pub 2 be really clean and staff were smiling as soon as i walked in very polite and friendly. Nice atmosphere will definatly b popping in again.
A big pub which during the day has a big horse racing following.Always sport on the various plasma t.v's they have.As I have only visited during daytime the customers are very nice and the barstaff very friendly and attractive.
I got a bit of a social club feel from the Princess Royal this lunchtime. There is a stage at the front of the pub with the bar in the middle and a seating area at the back. The staff were friendly and the only other people in were 2 old boys who seemed very happy chatting away about how crap life is.
I paid 3 for a pint of lager and the only sign of any ale I could see was 2 pride pumps on the bar.
This is by no means the best pub in the area, but its not the worst as The Albany is just up the road.

Good God, soul-crushingly depressing.
If you are looking to find Brentford's grottiest pub then this is it. I just wonder how a place so empty can still manage to be so nosiy and unwelcoming - in equal measure. No further questions. m'lud !
Friendly enough pub. Was in there when the Bees were away from home. I will try and pop back in sometime soon when Brentford are at home. Overall not a bad pub.
This pub, one of the 4 corners of the mighty Griffin Park, holds a dark secret. Each Tuesday, a collection of miscreants, upstarts and frustrated used car owners meet up and play an interesting game of strip darts, starting at 7pm. Serves Pride, Guiness and other assorted standard beer. Plastic glasses on match days Strippers in first Friday every month Comedian in every night

Good place to come for a chat and a drink but not one for atmosphere

Quite a large pub. Pretty dead atmosphere on visit, however contains a jukebox. Didnt find out the full range of songs, trouble with them is you never know how long it will take for songs to come on. Bit of a queue this time around
cavernous place which presuambly gets packed on match days, otherwise quiet. friendly enough but nothing special.
Now extensively refurb'ed & reopened following takeover by the mighty Bees. Refurb is a pretty standard job; only reopened Aug 05 so it hasn't yet had time to have the pin-sharp newness knocked off it & acquire that lived-in feel. Much better than it was (and the Fullers real ale is back on, praise be), but could do with a few more tables to fill up its wide open spaces.
Does the pool table still have that post by the corner pocket or has it been moved ???
Soon to be taken over by Brentford Football Club. I hope it improves.
Tony Adams used to drink in here!
Still dump though
