The barmaid was the friendliest girl in the world but they had no Guinness or Fosters and Carling so although it’s a nice pub it’s not one for me

Perhaps specialimport is the new management.

Refurbished and new management. Seems they can cook and keep good beer at the same time.
|
This is a very friendly pub - manager and staff. They do a well kept pint of London Pride and have some very nice wines (I had a Rose) and the chips are nice (the landlord gave us some on the house)! I can't comment on the rest of the food yet but I have it on good authority that its a good standard. The pub has just started having extra Open Mics on (the 2nd and last) and a "Jam and Feature" Night on (the first) Sunday of the month and the vibe is really great! They have lots of live music here with a weekly Thursday Open Mic too, a karaoke night and bands on Saturday nights.

Nice boozer with very friendly staff. Locals all were laid back. The pub is in a nice location at the end / start of the canal.
However DO NOT EAT HERE - especially the chicken burger, unless you want it to come with a side of stomach cramps. I was clutching my sides by the last mouthful! Friends had the beef burger, and complained it was made of cardboard.
By all means drink here as it is a pleasant pub, but if you are peckish, wander further down the road for a bite to eat.

Gonna be a gay pub soon

I hadn't realised that this pub had opened again. Looking Good ! Clean, Tidy and Welcoming. Landlord is very friendly and nothing is to much trouble. I had a pint of Seafarers and my bud a pint of Pride. Well kept and decent head. Clean glasses. Nice clear pint, this landlord knows his cellar. Keen to try the food next visit, seems a bit fish orientated though... Well worth a visit !

I used to use this pub years ago when it was a dour dirty throwback to the early 60's with keg pride. But it was always buzzing. Now it has had a refurb, and several managers over a short period of time;- or so I'm told as I haven't been in. Reason! I've never seen anyon in there, its always empty. Why cant fullers do someting to make it work, that way the may stand a chance of getting their money back.
|
Great pub with a large garden. Pleasant staff too
|
Now under new management and already a better pub. Ate there last week and the food was very good. Good selection of beer too.
|
Walked in and asked how strong the guest ale was (it wasn't shown on the pumpclip); barperson couldn't tell me. I said I'd have a pint anyway, whereupon she found the line was full of water (so why wasn't the clip turned round)? Settled for a pint of Discovery, which tasted OK, but expensive and a bit cloudy. Fullers need to get a hold of this place; they've spent a lot on doing it up but currently it's an object lesson in how not to run things. Until they do, go a few hundred yards to the Magpie and Crown in one direction or O'Briens in the other.
|
Went there for a dart match, the barmaid was too busy chatting to her chums and looking after her baby (about 6wks old) to be bothered to serve anybody else. Waited ages for an expensive pint, my heart dropped when l realised it was a Fullers PH (read thieves) and then 3.20 for a pint of London Pride bilge that's only brewed about a mile down the road. How do FST get away with it?
|
Nice pint of Honeydue.
Shame that whenever I'm in there is normally one or two lines not in action. Bring back the Fullers IPA too! Staff are very friendly and food is good value.
Live music nights are good. Saw a Led Zeppelin tribute band in hear this year and they were amazing.

Nicely refurbished but lost its old character. Bit Pricey but nice for a quite evening
|
Ye gods! Why would anyone deliberately make a pub look like this? If you are used to wearing beige cardigans it may be for you but it is soooo bland that it sapped my conciousness and I cannot even recall what the beer was. Simply dull.
|
This pub has been beautifully restored and is barely recognisable from the way it was before, a slightly shabby places, though not without character. Make sure you look at the side room to the left of the bar if you visit. My only grumble is a rather badly poured pint of London Pride courtesy of a pale chap behind the bar. I will return at some point.
|
Currently closed for refurbishment, but they are looking for a new licensee as well.
|
If you want Sky sports in a pub then you are not a real drinker. Get a satellite dish and leave the pubs to people who like to have a quiet beer and a chat.

Ah The Six Bells takes me on a trip down memory lane!
I played in their dart team from the age of 16-18 on a Wednesday night in the Hampton mini league. Id not been in here for about 13 years until earlier this week and it is exactly how I remember it. An L-shaped pub with a pool table tucked around the back and a stage with a dart board to the left. A nice sized bar serving up Pride on 3 pumps and the usual array of bog standard lagers. There is a concreted back yard with a few tables and chairs in it with a building at the back of it that looks as though Steptoe and Son should be living in it.
It is a darts pub as the Landlord is the chairman of the London County Darts Team and some fantastic players hail from here. There are a few more dart boards upstairs, but they only used to be used for Super League, not sure about now.
I still love this boozer as it is like stepping into the 70s. I always have the feeling that Jack Regan will walk out of the bogs at any moment and tell me to shut-it!

landlady is nice to ur face but once u turn ur back she will critisize u like anything. she is a complete back stabber! pub is crap! there is no sky sports, hasnt been for at least 3yrs! over priced and beer taste like the pumps dont get cleaned!
|
this pub does feel very old fashioned i went in there karaoke night there were about 4 people the land lady is lovely but i do avoid this pub on a pub crawl.
|
dirty hole
|
old fashioned local - and none the worse for that. v friendly bar staff. has some good live music - saw cry wolf there the other sunday.
|
Great bands on a Sunday but the place could do with a website so I dont have to ring to see who is playing and could do with a refurb. landlady is great and its a pretty friendly clientele
|
Came in here with a friend last night. We were walking along the canal and decided to come in for a quick drink. Landlady was brilliant. There should be more pubs like this. Great character pub.

The net curtains could do with a wash. It's a bit of a time capsule but you gotta hand it to the old folk that run it and their dedication to 3 live bands a week. There's not enough live music around! I caught a bunch called Loudmouse who were pretty cool.
anonymous - 22 Apr 2005 15:23 |
No longer sports Fullers logo outside. The green frontage has been painted black. Have Fullers sold this pub, does anyone know, and if so, who the new owners are ?
|
Loudmouse playing live Sunday 23rd January. Check these guys out. Super rock party band.

Lets visit the world of the flintstones. A pub that has not changed since man was created including the staff. I do not have anything good to say about this pub especially Joyce's husband. Cant remember his name and dont care. He is a disgrace to human society with his racsist comments. Im a darky and proud

If you want fine beer, sophisticated conversation and mix with the creme of the Cafe society... move on. If however anybody under the age of forty wants to experience the type of Pub their parents used to visit and listen to Fab sounds at the weekends, then the Bells is for you. I live too far way to frequent on a regular basis, but on my rare visits I have been amazed how time seems to have passede this little gem by. Some of the best music I have every listened to I heard at the Bells. FULLERS, DEVELOPERS, MODERNISERS, HEALTH & SAFETY EUROPEAN LEGISLATION BE WARNED... do not interfer with a single item in this monument (unless you wish to give it Arts grant or some cultural award). A visit to this Pub should be part of school's Curriculum. Six Bells... Long may you ring.

Great Pub for live music, so should be suported just for that. But its worth suporting even more because of the wounderful Landlady Joyce. Who knows the pub and locals so well, Infact a lot of Landlords/Landladies should go to "The Bells" to see how it should be done. When you have a Pub that has music and a Landlady that has run the same pub for over 40 years (making her the longest running landlady that fullers have) you have a good night.

Great ppol room that looks and somehow smells like the gmaes room of a rural youth hostel, I heartily recommend this pub for its cheerful, possibly slightly mad, landlady, its warm decor and its excellent conviviality. Perhaps I shall visit for the music soon.
