Angel Inn, Upton Scudamoreback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Used to walk here when it was more like a pub and had a bar, but it is basically a restaurant now with a tiny bar downstairs. Were made to feel very unwelcome at 17:58 the last time we visited. We were told the place didn't open until 6pm and when I replied that it was 2 minutes to 6, we were rudely told "not by my watch it isn't, I make it quarter to!" by the up himself bar manager.
As we'd walked some miles to get there, we had an awkward meal, served by the same fella, on a tiny table by the tiny bar (we weren't allowed to sit anywhere else because of our dog) and then left never to return. People who live in Upton Scudamore must be very disappointed by their local...

Now even more like a restaurant. Has lost the pub feel and is cramming them in. Sent friends there with glowing reviews. They reported back that we had obviously lost our marbles. NOT PUB restaurant now. EWe went to check it out and came away saddened. Food good but atmosphere not the same - sad.

Agree with Saxon Scooper - overpriced so-called bistro pub. Been twice (one voluntarily, once as part of a group). Had to wait an eternity on a Tuesday night (understaffed) for a 17 main course, the potato accompanyemnt was burnt. Outrageous. Lacks real atmosphere. Does not justify the cost. Beer ok.

An unimpressive pub from the road as it sits on the pavement. Entering from the rear car park is pleasant. Pub has an old feel to it and the bar area seems like a Bistro. Wooden floor, stripped pine tables etc. Rest is laid out like a restaurant. Quiet on a weekday March lunchtime, but not surprised with main courses at 16-95!! 3 real ales, Bass, Butcombe, 6X. Tried the now rare Bass which was OK. Sadly not really a pub anymore and charging excessive restaurant prices.

On the verge of becoming a restaurant more than a pub (no sandwiches, crisps, etc.) but well-kept beers, excellent food and very friendly staff. The fact that this is in the Michelin Guide (and the AA Pub Guide too) speaks more for the food than for "a pub" in its old sense.

Stopped at this pub on the way home from Bath. It's in the AA Pub Guide. Beer was fine and the staff friendly. Really there for Sunday Lunch.Extremely disappointed with our Roast Beef Dinner,as were the three diners next to us. Two thin slices of beef, a Yorkshire Pudding with two small undercooked roast potatoes.Other veg. in dish were green beans(good) carrot and swede(One piece of carrot not cooked) and again, small portions. I only left feeling full because they serve up fresh bread with it an I ate the lot.9.50 for that is extortion,my local does a wholesome roast for 5.95 and you don't need bread to fill you up!

An excellent pub for a quiet drink or a lovely meal, either in the restaurant or the bar. Great service and lovely extra little touches like the olives, olive oil and freshly baked bread if you are eating.
