Live music pub with four real ales. Was fairly empty on Saturday when local band Fubar was pumping out sub-Bruce Springsteen / Tom Petty covers. Music was too loud so the crowd was trying to distance itslef from the stage. Friendly bar staff and four real ales. My pint of Betty Stoggs was OK but a bit warm. I might visit again if I was in the mood.

Good boozer. Not sure about price comments as everywhere is over 3 now pretty much. Pride and GK ok. Live bands on Thursdays are worth it but it gets rammed and you pay a door charge. Otherwise, one of the better high street boozers.

This pub is a big waste of time to go into and to get served in!!!! Went into the pub on a band night and agree and understand there is a 30pence charge to each drink you buy. BUT!!!! get seriously overcharged for 2 drinks a pint of foster 3.75 and half pint of pepsi 1.70 costing 7.50. Tried asking the the staff member who served me she ignored my questions and stated she gave me the right change.
Asked about the price list!!!! She wouldn't even tell me and walked off!!!
As i l left she made a comment that "irl knock her out if she tries that again"
STAY AWAY from this pub customer services does not exist!!!!

Weekends it gets rammed best time to visit midweek nice pint of Green King IPA Bit pricey but its to be expected for a town centre boozer

Slightly run-down traditional boozer in a strange location next to a large roundabout but very central. I would definitely recommend the Wednesday night live music evening, was excellent last night. The beer is quite pricey as people have noted (2.95 for GK IPA, 3.15 for London Pride), but it was in good condition and worth it for the entertainment. I didn't get charged for entry as the previous poster suggested, maybe they charge on other nights. It was very busy, great atmosphere but there was still seats available as plenty of people preferred to stand to get a better view. They're an interesting crowd in there.

over priced pub that thinks its big in the gig guide they charge you to listen to the bands and move all the tables so you have to stand up what more can i say

Great pub.. the best in Watford!
|
Friendly down to earth music-focused boozer, protected from Watford's central Strip by four lanes of passing traffic. Nice place to visit all year round, but probably comes into it's own in the summer months when you can spill out onto the large patio outside.
Bands on 3/4 nights a week, usual a mix of local bands and decentish tribute acts. The landlord also seems to be a close personal friend of Cockernee Geniuses Chas n Dave, so they're normally on a couple of times a year. Gertcha.

The only pub in Watford High Street I will drink in. Not the prettiest boozer inside, but its full of adults so 99% of the time the atmosphere is very good. But the best thing about this pub is the music. The landlord gets in some really cracking bands, the last ones I saw were The Jamm (tribute) who were excellent. Staff are pretty friendly to, can't tell you about the ales as I'm a lager lout, but they have London Pride. Well worth a visit.

Good place for a quiet drink on a Saturday afternoon (as long as Watford are not playing at home). Well kept ales, I had a pint of Pride and an Old Speckled Hen. Not so keen on the internal layout now they have ripped the guts out of the pub, but it is of a much larger scale than before & ideal for the nocturnal music scene.

Definitely my favourite pub. Completely unpretentious, always very welcoming and usually a great atmosphere - especially when bands are playing which is several times a week. Bar staff are always attentive and courteous and the beers are properly kept. They also serve good quality bar meals in generous portions although the menu is a bit limited. The decor is full of music memorabilia so there's always something to catch the eye. There's also an all-weather covered patio so you can always enjoy a drink al fresco! Highly commended!

Dirty filthy Pub. Seems to be a place for lecherous 50 something men, and slutty looking women with bingo wings and a distinct lack of clothes, teeth or morals. That may be your thing, but it isnt mine.
Interior is distinctly dingy, and everywhere looks a bit dark and grimy. Pointless brick-a-brack adorns the walls.
The lager is average at best, but the Guinness is very poor indeed. Prices were expensive, and they stick about 50p a pint on whenever they have a band on which can make a round very expensive indeed.

Blimey, I agree with summer, Id seen that band in berko and some how managed to end up seeing them in the horns pub was my first time there are i couldnt believe my luck!!
The staff in the horns were quite quick as it was ramed in there cant complain. Will def make the effort to try this pub again! The memorablia that is all over the walls here is great!
Nice to see a good pub getting it right. London priced drinks is my only complaint but to be honest i was worth it!

Oh my.....a couple of weeks ago I went there for a Saturday night gig.....It was one of the best nights I have ever had.......!!!!!!
If you fancy a good dance to a great band then keep your eyes open for a band called...Scandal...They Rocked!!!!! Welll worth a listen....it was busy though so get there early!

Located next to the Town Hall and opposite the Library reached via the underpass from the High St. Popular with students from the local college at lunchtimes but at the evening and weekends its claim to fame is regular live music. Although entrance is free they do have an annoying habit of increasing prices when live music is on. Separate eating area and a pleasant beer garden.

Excellent pub for live music. Beer seems pricey until you realise there is a premium when a band is provided without an entry charge most of the time.. Also, it doesn't specifically attract the teenagers from the other end of the high street in any great numbers, which is a good thing in my book...

Surprised at the comments about this being an expensive pub. 5-40 for 1 pint of lager and a pint of London Pride is very cheap by Watford standards (town centre pubs a couple of hundred yards away will charge 6-00 to 6-50). Maybe there was a cover charge because there was a band on?

very deer place to buy drinks good music nice atsmossphere will let under 18s in for a famaily sunday roast.
|
This place is one of the few in Watford I'd go to a second time. Seems to be free from goons in Ben Sherman fighting shirts that seem to frequent the majority of places in the Town Centre. Good staff, good music, ok beer.

Hey just to add a new comment, I was in the pub the other day and I had a look at the new and improved menu!!
It seems to be the best of british! Spam burgers, Marmite on toast, kippers you name it!! Very original! Still has the classic meals aswell so dont be afraid. I think it needs to be given a go!
|
If the landlord says he doesn't make any money then i don't have a weight problem and don't spend half my time on the internet slagging off pubs. He still owes me two chas and dave tickets as well.
|
OK for reasonable pub food and a quiet drink during the day, The Horn comes alive in the evening and at weekends. Not the cheapest place to drink but efficient (and attractive) staff make buying drinks relatively painless. A wide variety of musical styles regularly on show, from enthusiastic and/or gifted amateurs to well-known professionals and tribute bands, virtually every night of the week. Very seldom any trouble from the progeny of "cousins who marry". If you're new in town or just like music, give it a whirl.
|
If you want live music in a friendly atmosphere then this is the place to go! The only place I know in watford that has got the balance of being a pub in the day and a music venue in the evening completey right. Very good service and the food is good to! If you don't fancy the town centre then i do advise walking under the subway and paying it a visit especially if you like live music!
Arrive earlier on a friday night though as you may have to cue!! It gets Very busy

great for live music, new talent and established acts...very receptive and supportive atmosphere....

The landlord featured in a article in the Watford Observer recently where he claimed not to make any money. Come on, the palce is rammed at the w/e, very uncomfortable and so loud we stopped going.

better than it was before but come on - the landlord is a tex mex music fan limited fare from a potentially great live music venue - shame

self indulgent musical tastes on a saturday night make it hard on the ear drums. otherwise, decent pub and with very few kiddiewinkles.

Top marks for refurbishment and reinvention. Cosy, friendly and colourful. A premier music venue for an up-and-coming town.
