Popped in for the first time on Saturday after the football. Really liked the place and would go back. Selection of real ales on draught plus all usual keg stuff. Live sports on TV and a festive atmosphere with Xmas decorations, etc. when we were there. Would definitely return!

Good range of beers. I had the Youngs Gold which was in good condition. Downside is the attitude of the staff who seemed really rude. Would give it another try to see if I'd picked a bad day.
|
Prices have jumped. The new management started at £2.60, then £2.80 and today £3.20
Was this because of the rugby?

Nice enough pub with great beer in a slightly bleak part of London. Only real downsie was that the gents toilets were, at the time of my visit, utterly disgusting.
|
Bit of a local for me as I work just down the man road.
Always has at least 2 real ales on which thankfully one is always Doom Bar.
Cracking little pub with good food and both he food and drink are well priced.
Football and other sport shown on the various screens.
There are sometimes too many staff on but this just means you don't have to wait for a beer for long.
Decent honest pub in an area that is lacking this a bit especially handing towards Whitechapel.

New management, new menu. Started out with four real ales on the hand pumps, but recently there may be just one real ale. The price seems to be 2.60 for any real ale. Lots of screen for sport, with music on from time to time (jazz, blues and dj sessions). Staff are fine, sometimes over staffed when I go in early evening. Not tried the food yet.

Only visited once, but thought it had bags of character and friendly staff. The beers were well kept and food, although standard pub fayre was good, not excellent. Worth a visit.
|
played a darts match there, staff are accomodating of the team games and close the main door off so that the game isn't interrupted. Next to Burger King which is always a bonus!
|
looked quite rough from outside, was ok when your in, only pride and spitfire on tap, a proper pub
|
A good old fashioned pub. Worth popping in
|
Decent looking pub inside, some interesting framed photos of old east London on the walls. The pub was empty at12.30 Saturday lunchtime but I don't think it had been open long. There were several empty handpumps but only two ales available, these were London pride and spitfire, I tried latter which was drinkable but no better than that. Its worth a look but I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit.

This pub i have been in once it has a good selection of ales and well kept and run well i think it is one of the better pubs in the area some of the pubs in whitechapel have had the heart taking out of them
|
Had a nice well kept pint of Spitfire. Then had a nice well kept pint of London Pride. Then it all went wrong. I had to have another nice well kept pint of Spitfire. If you're the sort of person who doesn't mind having the same beer twice in the evening this is a good pub. However, for me the choice of only two ales limits it to no more than 7 out of 10.

went on new years eve 2009 - interesting and very long bar!! quiet at lunch time - even still the barman managed to give me a Guiness when I asked for a Hoegarden...couldnt be bothered to complain. Bit of history too with a Jack The Ripper suspect used to work in the basement as a hairdresser I believe..
|
Pride, Spitfire and TEA today at 3.15. TEA was OK but not good enough to tempt me for a second. Random music, presumably from a juke box, was annoying, especially with Sky News being broadcast at a fair volume. Thai and English on the menu. An OK place.

I visited this pub on a Saturday night, it was about half full, whilst other pubs in the area were completely full. The reason for this may be that a Jack the Ripper suspect once lived there, although I think he may be still living there, in the form of the landlord/licensee.
When I arrived one young Italian(?) girl was on her own behind the (extremely long) bar, she pulled a pint for me that was slightly short measure, as I felt sorry for her I didn't say anything. After about half an hour the landlord emerged, I ordered another pint from him, and it appeared that he was giving me short measure, so I asked him politely if he could "top it up". He practically jumped down my throat, saying something along the lines of, I decide if it needs topping up. In order to avoid a contretemps, I agreed with him saying "yes, you're right". This wasn't enough though, he then had another go, so this time I said "yes you're right, I apologise".
If you want to run the risk of being snapped at by this unpleasant individual, then visit The White Hart, otherwise avoid at all costs.

Great atmospheric pub interior, my Spitfire and London Pride were both in fine condition. This would have rated a 9 but I have to take off a point for having three unused handpumps in each bank of 5 - a selection of guest ales from some of the smaller breweries would make this place near perfect! Still I'll definately pop in again next time I'm in the Brick Lane area.
|
Watched the liverpool / chelsea champions league matchs in here , good session , no decent ale so opted for fosters , was clean and cold. toilets must be the cleanest in the area. staff are very good , switched on and friendly. The Latvian hottie has been replaced with an italian hottie.
|
Three banks of 5 pumps but only Spitfire on each section. So, 15 handpumps, 1 beer: to me, that just smacks of laziness probably born on the back of busy weekday lunchtimes. Real shame, as the old wood aesthetic and feel of the place appeals greatly on entry, and the long bar goes far back to the rear of the pub. I really dont know why they open at the weekend, maybe they get some Brick La trade but dont seem to be doing much to encourage it. Off list in future.

Good pub, ideal place to visit before heading off to Brick Lane for a curry. Added bonus was having Lowenbrau on draft, havent seen that in years.
|
I stumbled across this super little pub in March. Not only did it fit the bill as how I remember a London pub, it was clean, the staff and the clientel were friendly and the beer was very well kept. On the whole, wll worth a visit. (Oh and that Latvian girl is very nice!)
|
This is one of my regular haunts as they serve Hoegaarden and lovely food. You get a lively mix of locals, tourists and commuters, and the Juke Box is spot on. There's a heated smoking area out the back too.
|
Agreed, this is not the White Hart next to the Beggar which really makes the unholy trinity LHT, White Hart, Beggar quite possibly holding the "worst three pubs I've ever set foot in more than once because I truly didn't believe it could be that bad' award.
Reasonable pub with soem decent ales kept well, and a nice traditional feel, a million miles from said triumvirate. Old fashioned boozers are much appreciated in an environment of never ending Yates/Slug and Lettuce, and this one fits the bill for a quiet pint on any day of the week.

Visited this pub on a Saturday night in Feb 2007. Seems like a fairly laid-back place. Very friendly and very gorgeous Latvian barmaid....
|
No chavs in sight when I walked in here on Monday. London Pride was good. Picture of Winston Churchill on the wall (always a good sign). Good quality East end boozer. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Did notice the Thai menu but didn't have time to try. Does look like people are getting their pubs confused this one is nowhere near The Blind Beggar.
|
Some of you are getting this White Hart confused with the rough one up the road near the Blind Beggar. This one is at 89 Whitechapel High Street and never seen any chavs or trouble. London Pride on top form this week as well as most excellent Thai chicken from the new Thai menu served 'til 10pm.!! complete with gorgeous Thai waitress.
|
Went to this pub a couple of weeks ago. Looks like it has been done up. Still a bit of a chav vibe the night I went (Saturday), they had the maddest dj in there i have ever seen in a pub called dj.d with a proper huge laser show and old skool music. Wasn't really busy but we had a wicked night anyway. The dates are on discosite.com
|
Last time I went this pub it was full of Chavs (who by the way never seem to be actually drinking) and was going down hill fast. A lot of people had coke and not the drinking kind so not good to be in at all.
Apparently it has been taken over again as the last manager was terrible so it might improve, if only the Blind Beggar across the road would do the same!
I gave it a score of 1 and that was just because they do sell beer!
|
Great possibilities for a decent boozer. It has just been taken over by a sound fella so improvements should be on the way.

Awful bumhole of a pub. Good for showing off your prison tats, or having a pint-glass throwing contest.

Welcome to Ken's new London, Beano! Big sh**hole of a place, at least in this pub some of the staff speak a little English.

Managed to slip in here before last orders on Thursday night.Lucky to find it, shame there was no Adnams but 2 pints of London Pride followed by a curry on Brick Lane, mmm...pretty good. Have you seen the new style laid back policemen in the area with their open neck casual shirts, floppy trunchens eating crisps in their toned-down people friendly police cars? what's all that about? there's pimps, crack dealers, muggers, beggers, prostitutes all over the place. And no wonder traffic can't move, every bit of road has been turned into a bus lane that's hardly used.
