Popped in for a couple on Sunday afternoon. Had well kept pints of Truman's Runner and Hackney Best. Good to see a chain pub supporting local microbreweries! Nice traditional and cosy interior and clean toilets. Could have lived without the TV showing football, especially as there was music playing as well. Worth popping in for a couple if you're in the area.

From the outside this pub looks very promising, nice decor inside and out and an array of handpumps. Unfortunately when I went none of the ales were on so I had to have an extra-cold Guinness. There were 6 of us round the table and the big screen was turned up so loud having a group conversation was very difficult. After a while the bar staff turned off the screen and put on some dance music that was even louder and more annoying than the TV had been.
This could be a great pub but unless there's changes I see no reason to go back.

The Montague Arms, New Cross
Pleased to say the Montague has reopened :) They've done a good job of recreating the old atmosphere (unfortunately all the old bric a brac was sold off), with lots of quirky items, although with a less cluttered feel than before and it is also much cleaner than I remember. A good selection of ales including delicious Mauldons Blackberry Porter were on great form and the stage area looks the same as I remember it. Basically its the Monty I used to love, just with a few less curios, a bit more space and a lot cleaner, cant wait to go back :)
