After the Parish and a wander around a few pubs that were far too busy we settled for 1 drink in the Blue Boar.
5 pumps offering a mix of ales from local and a bit further afield, I settled for a pint of Timothy Taylors Golden Best @ 3.5%. A decent pint but the service from the surly female bar staff leaves a bit to be desired.
Wooden floors, plenty of seats, music playing in the background but a bit louder than background music.
Food was being served but I didn’t see what it looked like.
Nice courtyard but you’re not allowed to take your drinks outside, even though it was sweltering inside.
Most probably my one and only ever visit.

This bar is now reopened as The Blue Boar and has been completely refurbished as an Olde Worlde/contemporary pub - mainly dark wood and pastel colours. They do food and appeared to doing good business on my visit but the drinks are overpriced and I will not be a regular.PS if the management read this TURN THE HEATING ON! I don't expect to have to wear my gloves and button my coat up in a pub.

After image problems and a dodgy landlord it is reinventing itself as the Dick Turpin...don't think I'll go out of my way though, it's an Enterprise Inn!

Whoops -should have realioed what kind of bar it was when I saw the Madonna and Quentin C drawings when I was getting served -friendly enough...Is that good?

Lively gay venue, friendly people, excellent juke box. Got refused any more beer on a friday night as we'd had such a good time here, didn't realise how drunk we had got!! Best gay bar in York by far.

Venue is great. Find the lighting a bit harsh, hopefully when you get established you will be investing a little more in the decor. Good to have a new venue! Cheers!

Hello everyone who had posted a comment on the little john in york. We are the new owners of this pub now and has had a major refurb and is 100% better lol so thanks for the comments before so we knew what to do with the building. So you all will have to re-visit for a beer

Another of the York pubs that used to be packed all weekend, now very quiet and urgently needing a refurb.

Tried this place on Saturday night. 10pm Stinks of tghe gents toilet as you walk in (the door was wide open, and the toilet shyould be condemned - filthy, smelly and apparently uncleaned for years). Carpet shabby, half empty. A loud hen party in dominated the tables area. At the bar they had run out of three key drinks, including Boddingtons and Orange Juice. Staff were bored (but barman was keen). tatty downstairs too. Needs a lot of money spending on it. What a waste of a great location.

Another one of York's funny little places. Pleasant enough, but not one of my regular haunts. Has a kareoke night, and serves decent array of booze.

Why do you not know how?
Felt a bit Peter Kay when I went in, but I thought the landlord was exceedingly friendly. Not posh but seemed OK to me - Hope it stays open!
