| After the Parish and a wander around a few pubs that were far too busy we settled for 1 drink in the Blue Boar. 5 pumps offering a mix of ales from local and a bit further afield, I settled for a pint of Timothy Taylors Golden Best @ 3.5%. A decent pint but the service from the surly female bar staff leaves a bit to be desired. Wooden floors, plenty of seats, music playing in the background but a bit louder than background music. Food was being served but I didn’t see what it looked like. Nice courtyard but you’re not allowed to take your drinks outside, even though it was sweltering inside. | This bar is now reopened as The Blue Boar and has been completely refurbished as an Olde Worlde/contemporary pub - mainly dark wood and pastel colours. They do food and appeared to doing good business on my visit but the drinks are overpriced and I will not be a regular.PS if the management read this TURN THE HEATING ON! | Lively gay venue, friendly people, excellent juke box. Got refused any more beer on a friday night as we'd had such a good time here, didn't realise how drunk we had got!! Best gay bar in York by far. BB_and_Pumps - 27 Oct 2007 11:24 |
