please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I see I was the last person to put a review on for this place. Well, I finally got back to Norwich last weekend after a gap of just over 3 years. This time, the Cottage was open. It is owned by the Grain Brewery. There is a Bohemian feel inside that you wouldn't expect, judging by the exterior. Bar staff and other customers were friendly. Cask ales all come from Grain - Best Bitter, Winter IPA, Red Rye, Slate, Lignum Mitre & Tindalls Winter. There are more beers dispensed from keg taps on the back wall of the bar. I opted for the Slate in cask form, which was a good choice. Upgrading my score to a 7/10.

Tried visiting here yesterday morning at around 11:40. The CAMRA website shows the pub opening at 11am. But this is clearly incorrect. Their own website does not work. Hopefully we'll have another visit to Norwich within the next 18 months and we can have another go. 0/10 for a closed pub for now.

Great pub its everything you want from a local, fine ales & bar snacks. Friendly Landlady Staff & Customers. Why is it not in the good beer guide?

I visited this pub recently for the first time.

I was very impressed by the friendliness and atmosphere of the place. I noted that they serve very tasty bar meals at reasonable prices and have an excellent array of real ales - at least half a dozen to choose from.

The Cottage is gaining a reputation for good "live" music. I caught "Polaris" on my visit - an excellent band playing 60s music and rock 'n' roll.

This pub is well worth checking out!

This is a lovely little hostelry with a warm welcome to all from Clive and Sally and their "bear" (the big black German Shepherd mentioned elsewhere). They have a good selection of well kept real ales and some lively music nights. What more could you wish for? Give it a try sometime - if you haven't already.

What a find! Recommended to me by a senior citizen, my wife and I paid this charming venue a mid-afternoon visit on Friday and, although very quiet, received a warm welcome from Clive and Sally, and a massive black Alsatian (dog!).
There was a good selection of real ales on offer but preferring a glass (or bottle!) of wine I mentioned this to Clive who produced an excellent few examples of their cellar.
The various events lined up look like making this well worth another visit even if it's quite a detour from Mulbarton. Good luck to a lovely couple in a hostelry I'd certainly recommend.

Called in for Saturday breakast on way to football. Not the cheapest breakfast in the city but well worth the money and in how many cafes would you be able to wash it down with a pint or three. Silver Adder in tip top condition. I think there were 3 mauldon's beers plus 6 others including Humpty dumpty Little Sharpie also in good nick. Will definately make this a regular stop off. Might pop back or Sunday lunch and then the bands they have advertised everyweek, the chap behind the bar said they have been really good afternoons.

Recently taken over and refurbished by Mauldons Brewery this is another fine Pub to be found in Norwich, about a 15 minute walk from the City Centre. The Pub itself is a somehwat spartan place with no Fruit machines; just a good place to try any of the ten beers available which include 6 from Mauldons. As mentioned by thetapfan, food is served and the Baps and Sandwiches are excellent value. A must visit and also within ten minutes of the Whalebone and the Duke Of Wellington

Mauldon's second pub, opened recently. What an improvement! 8 real ales available on my visit (a miserable monday night in January) including Silver and Black Adder, Youngs bitter and Brewer's Gold in excellent condition. Had just started serving food that day, hot baps, pork pies etc available all day plus a lunchtime menu. They have got plans for Saturday breakfasts and Sunday lunch. A skiffle band is advertised for the end of the month. Nice to see that Murphy the bear has followed Clive & Sally from Sudbury. Well worth a visit!
