Now operating as a tapas/wine bar called Ricon and it's a gem, a vast improvement on the previous Paradise operation that had become a Cougartown mutton market.
Whilst there's a limited selection of Spanish beers we can work on the basis all Spanish beers taste the same so what's the problem? The winelist is excellent and at the top end of pricelist there's some real bargins to be had. The tapas too is very good. Staff are friendly and attentive.
Man cannot live by ale alone and Ricon is an exciting addition to the Richmond circuit. The owners and staff deserve to succeed with this offering.

Closed for refurbishment...again. Not sure about best beer on tap - they have one and that runs out and not sure they are aware of line cleaning. Still go in this place for old times sake now and again and if they get this place right it could be great but lost its appeal a long time ago. Shame

Some of the best lager in Richmond with Birra Moretti on tap. The food was also rather good - I had the peppered chicken and my friend was very impressed with the cod & chips.

It's ok, not over busy - one person on duty not really enough though. No real ale and not sure there was any beer at all although there seems to be from other reviews. Cider choice is v. limited Go and eat pizza and watch people go by. Music (piped) was Frank S. - lounge bar style?

Used to be the best place in Richmond to end the evening. Now it seems full of old BA cabin crew talking shop. If you want to show off your fake tan then this is the place to be seen.
|
ha ha - hilarious place - tries hard to hit the cool wine bar accolade and in the 90's had a reasonable rep for good jazz and cosy drinking but now it seems to have become a venue for literally the oldest swingers in town! a definate no no for the under 50's.

The manager needs to go on some customer service training as you should never take customer complaints over the bar in front of other customers. They charged 15 entrance fee on New Years Eve which was a total rip off - especially as we left after 10 mins. On a couple of occasions I have found that the music is really bad and when we mentioned it to the staff they said there was nothing they could do.

Never sure about this place, don't think it's sure about itself. Always reminds me of the wine bar in Only Fools and Horses when he's trying to trendy but he's not.
New Draught lager in now.....Budvar....4.00 a pint.
Back to the drawing board.

Far too many anonymous posters here sums it up. You go to pick up and so if you enjoy it best not to put your name to it. Has got better and can be fun but need a few to enjoy it, food here is very much an afterthought.

Great bar, full of memories. I_Love_Rugby needs to get off his fat arse and drink with the other rugger buggers down the club where no doubt he can play his stupid drinking games and puke up outside.

Went of the first time since the smoking ban last week and what a change! You could smell the wonderfull food as it went passed and made it a pleasure to eat in there. Wine list still good and not overpriced, especially for the Richmond area. Will definately be going back.

Jam packed - poor service - dimly lit - no draught beer at all - toilets hidden up narrow staircase - thumping music all night long - overpriced bottled beer when the surly staff eventually stop nattering among themselves.
Need I go on ?
1/10 for the location

I regularly drink in Paradise. It's a great bar, with attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. It does get busy but that's a testament to how good it is and the reputation it has. Highly recommend the wonderful crab and avocado salad. Great alternative to the many 'style bars' in Richmond, it has a local feel but at the same time trendy with a good vibe. Good for couples (but if you are looking for a romantic evening, go during the week for a meal as less busy) Fantastic for those of us who are single- lots of attractive people in there!

Used to be one of those great little bars only a few people knew about. Slowly turned into a sleazy joint which appeared to be frequented by cocky 'dealer' types. Last time I visited (thinking I would introduce my boyfriend to a quaint & quirky place in Richmond), we sat at by the bar on stools and were warmly received by the barman. He was very friendly, 'Great', I thought - just how I remembered.... Until my other half popped to the gents for 5 mins and the barman didn't think for 1 minute until he'd approached me for my phone number - eeeeuw! No thanks. Bring back the class!

Beer is bottled, over-priced standard brands. No draught to speak of. Service leaves a lot to be desired, there seems to be no effort given to serving the longest waiting customers. Gets packed out with suits, the kind of people who should be in an All Bar One but think it'd be too common for them.

Easily one of my fave bars in Richmond, gets you away from the predictable chain pubs and is a great little find. Getting to know the staff is easy and they always remember you at the next visit. The food is good too. Want to go back for the live music on a sunday.

This bar was recommended to me by a friend.
Sadly I was very disappointed. I went on Saturday 27th Jan and I was told they did live music, but all they had was loud music.
Drinks are okay, but there wasn't much atmosphere and it's not a big bar so it fills up easily.
The air conditioning desperately needs improving as our clothes smelt revolting. The lady next to us had her purse stolen, I know this can happen anywhere, but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
A sad first visit, but hopefully it will improve and others will enjoy it more.

Seems to be going downhill. Ridiculously expensive, with the rudest staff, and worst air conditioning of any pub in Richmond. Avoid !

Ah well, it's OK. A great deal of after work suits were in there when I went. Unfortunately this included a particularly obnoxious bald bloke who was ratted and talked loudly and unintelligably to his table of workmates all evening. Bottled beers and an OK wine list. Foot was well priced and really good. Far too smoky though.

I highly recommend a visit to One Paradise Road. It was a pleasure to go to an independent bar, great staff and ambience, the food was fab and so was the service. We had an excellent night and towards the end of the evening everyone was dancing to the live band that was playing (Sunday night) I will definately be going back!!

Excellent for woman who can't get a shag elsewhere.

Don't understand why this place is still open. A bit of a throwback to the bad wine bars of the 80s.

Pretentious place: very overpriced, and very rude staff
|
a great little bar with a good atmosphere and very good looking and friendly bar staff. not cheap but worth it

A wine bar with a local pub feel. More the 25+ urban professional type crowd, but anyone is welcome. Friendly attentive staff. Friday and Saturdays are always heaving and they have chilled live music on sundays. Great food from the retsaurant too.
