Lovely pub on the River Yare next to the chain ferry. If you are approaching from Loddon you can park up and travel for free on the ferry if you are using the pub. We didn't eat, but there were 3 real ales (Woodefords Wherry, a Bellhaven and one I can't remember). Late afternoon / evening it's a perfect setting outside on the raised Riverside area, watching boats pass, and you get a real feel for the strength of the current here...

The Ferry is situated away from the rest of the village of Reedham and is next to the car ferry over the River Yare. We stopped here for Sunday dinner and a swift half. Ales were Woodfordes Wherry, Lacons Encore & the local Humpty Dumpty Swallowtail & Ferryman. We had earlier visited the Humpty Dumpty brewery shop in the village itself. Food was nice, if not a little expensive. Has plenty of seating indoors and some overlooking the river itself on a raised area. Nice location.

For beer and location this a great pub, far better than the two by the riverside and well worth the 1/2 mile walk from the railway station, but the food, dear oh dear. I paid 5.25 for toasted cheese sandwich, fair enough I thought it'll be a couple of slabs of decent bread stuffed full of a strong cheddar nicely melted. What I actually got was a mean toasted sandwich out of a bloody breville sandwich maker, the cheese was non existant and it was served with the usual mound of unwanted rabbit food, and inexplicably some tortilla chips. Pathetic, and a total ripoff. Rate 7 for beer only, 0 for food.

Service tonight was sh***.
Signs outside proclaim that hot food is availabe until 9pm. No so. We were turned away at about 7:30, along with others, without any reason or explanation being offered despite there being vacant tables some with reservations others without.
We visit the area often and will not be back at the Ferry. A shame because until tonight we had always had good service and both ale and food had always been very good.
A prime example of a good reputation being lost very quickly because of someones poor attitude and bad communication.

Some friends and I came to the pub for a Sunday roast and boy are we glad we made the trip, coming over the chain ferry itself (which i found out later is the last working ferry in East Anglia) was the first part of what turned into a marvelous day, a bit chilled from the ferry ride over we came onto a warm bar with a real wood burning fire, and a friendly greeting from the land lord and staff. The roast beef was just delicious and the yorkies were definitely handmade you could even taste the egg. We all got tempted with desserts and the baileys cheesecake was creaming and light and yummy. We all made full advantage of the ales and really enjoyed the locally brewed beer so local even it was brewed in Reedham itself. We had a brilliant time and will definitely be coming back and regularly, the staff really made the effort to make you feel welcome. With great banter to.

Smashing- good beer, good food. Super pint of well kept Woodfords. Manager is a very friendly guy, to the customers at least, but be less threatening to your staff please! Staff generally work better if not threatened with the sack, andf its not impressive for your patrons to witness staff tellings-off!

Great location, and really good staff. Geed beers on tap inc. Local Humpty Dumpty. Take your tent and stay the night round the corner in the camp site. We've done that when we couldn't be bothered with the short walk from the train station. Winter menu is excellent, lots of farm food and game. Summer menu not quite so, although get a bowl of chips with a pint. Big chunky ones that took 10 seconds to arrive after order. Top marks.

Great beer, lovely riverside location, but disappointing and overpriced food.

Best pub of the three in the area. Did not eat but the smell of the food as we approached was most welcome having walked from the Nelson (see comment), and looked excellent. Had better luck than previous reviewer as Humpty Dumpty Little Sharpie was on, we even got to start a new barrel. Staff very good

Decent pub in a great location by the Norfolk Broads. Four hand pumped ales; Adnams Bitter & Broadside, Woodfordes Wherry & Nelsons Revenge. I was told that the pump currently with Nelsons Revenge is the guest with a very local Humpty Dumpty beer on next. We had seen it advertised in the pub and the landlady cunningly tried to encourage us to finish it. Personally I would have thought it better to have a local Humpty Dumpty beer as a permanent. The pub interior has a lot going on with loads of business cards pinned to it. There are stuffed animals above the bar with a duck, ferret and a bird. Collections of various sizes of copper jugs hang in size order from the ceiling. There is also a divers helmet in an alcove close to the bar. There is a separate restaurant area which seemed popular. We chose to sit outside on the seats facing the Broads not far from the car ferry. It is the only crossing of The Yare between Great Yarmouth and Norwich and seemed to be pretty busy. Outside we saw the pubs geese which were very well behaved. I noticed that goose eggs are for sale inside the pub.

My previous comment should have read "Lovely pub right ont he broads". Re-visited this weekend and 2 Adnams and 2 Woodfordes available. Still didn't sample the food - really must do so next time as it does look very good.

Characterful riverside pub, typical of the better Norfolk country pubd. Worth a visit for the ferry ride alone (from the south). Beer was OK Wherry; fish & chips in particular looked worth the hefty price tag.

Lovely boat right on the broads so ideal for boat people. A bit of a walk from the station (about 20 minutes) but definitely worth it. Service was good. Three local ales on offer and what looked like fantastic food coming out of the kitchen. Various different rooms, several designed for eating in. The bar itself looks like an old smuggling den with a low bar at the back. Thousands of business cards stuck to the ceiling.

To say this pub is out in the sticks, it was a really nice place and fairly busy when I visited.
The friendly staff made me feel welcome, and my order of belly of pork and Adnams Broadside were very good -nice food and nice beer.

This is my dream pub - especially good if you arrive by boat. The most fantastic ever changing menu featuring local produce. Cosy pub area and conservatory area for families. Great seating outdoors by the Norfolk Broads. Can even eat enjoy grub and beer on your boat. If visiting by car however, strongly recommend you arrive via the north route otherwise it's a long wait for the car ferry (the only link that connects with north and south) Wouldn't mind owning this pub myself one day (in my dreams)
