The oldest pub in Ilfracombe and it shows, with a bulging front wall going back to the 14th century! Comfortable and welcoming inside with some nice local beers.

Old pub, serves food, no smoking area but can take drinks outside to tables; 2 ales on when we were there Exmoor gold & Sharps Coaster, both well kept. Bar staff were pleasant and locals friendly.

Pleasant oldy worldy beamed pub, A bit like going back in time.
Ales were good (three) were on.
The only thing was it was very quiet and lacked a little atmosphere.
7/10

I have no adverse comment to make about the pub itself, except to complain that it is massively overpriced. I had a pint of Tribute, and a small bottle of Magners and was charged £6.17. This was approximately £1.50 more than I paid in the hotel in which I was staying. I guess I should have enquired the individual prices before ordering, but I would consider this pub a total rip-off - probably why it was empty on a Saturday night compared with others in the area.

We where there the 2nd week in Sept. the day we where in no real ales friendly enough but watch has customers turn and went out with no ale that day

Had a meal here and it was very nice, the people were friendly and the service was good. It was quite busy and the customers were all normal people, not like some of the other pubs in the area which seemed to be full of drunken fools....

On our visit, we found it a welcoming place. The oldest pub in Ilfracome, which was olde worlde inside, with a few modern additions. The real ales on offer were good and not too expensive, when compared to other pubs in the area. The toilets were clean and tidy, always a good point for us. As were the tables and bar. A nice atmosphere to drink in and the locals seemed friendly enough. Did not try the food. but it looked and smelt inviting. Would go again when in the area. Highly recommended.

Found this pub while out with a group of mates and couldn't have been happier. Great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and a legend of a landlord.

This is a lovely pub! Very warm and invitinbg, with very friendly staff, and a welcoming 'no phones policy'. Also very dog friendly, which is always a good thing. We drank Betty Stoggs (Skinners) and Proper Job (St Austell). Both pints were lovely, only complaint was that they were a little cold...but then again, it was minus 4 outside, so I can't blame them if their cellar was a little chilly! They also sell Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger beer, which went down nicely.
We spent a week in Devon, and the George and Dragon became the meeting point in Ilfracombe, and will be again should we ever come back.

Went in here a few times while down in Ilfracombe on a shooting holiday.
Quiet (but still a busy pub) relaxed atmosphere. They have a policy of "no mobile phones to be used in the pub" actually!
Good beer and friendly staff - I must have liked the place 'cos I ended up buying one of their polo shirts with the pub name on!

recommended - good selection of food, nice bar lay-out with low beams, friendly staff.

Visited this pub in September with my wife. Quieter than some of the pubs nearby and quite friendly. The beer was pretty good and the food above average snd reasonably priced.

This is a really good, friendly pub and much quieter than some in the area. The food is good, plain fair and the beer is well kept. Although it has an Ushers sign outside, it had Spitfire and Directors on but no Ushers or Wadworths. It does tend to get overrun by families in high season early evenings (6.30 - 7.00) and they book tables out for parties, but we always manage to get a table for two.
The earlier comment about the toilets is now unjustified (they have always been clean when I've been in) but the one about the low doorway is fully justified - beware if you're over 5'11 in your choice of footwear.

Great pub, great food, really good home feeling as you enter, landlord and landlady have only been there a year but they know how to make you feel wellcome, will be calling in again for some of that feel good factor when i am down that way next year. ian

If this is the pub up on the left hand side of Fore Street, walking away from the quay, with fairly new owners/manager etc since June, then they need to spend some money !
Food was ok, but toilets were disgusting. WOuldnt go back in there now, but was only place we could grab food after travelling down for several hours. Prefer to go hungry next time !

The oldest pub in Ilfracombe. Lovely place, lively and very friendly and also serves great food. Very low beams so watch your head walking in! There is also a no 'mobile' policy - yay!
