The pub itself has about the level of character you'd expect from a chain pub. However, it's clean and comfortable, so no complaints there.
The real jewel in the crown for The Black Horse is its staff. They're always polite and friendly, happy to discuss and recommend menu options, and provide great service. I've eaten there several times in the past year and the food's always lovely too.

Had Sunday lunch here this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was quick and attentive, food was tasty and hot (and good value at �6.99) and the beer was perfect.

just to update here, the black horse is under new management so chances are it wont be in the good beer guide, but it seems the landlord is keen and he is open to suggestion for ales to go on, it is still a green king pub but he is allowed to have 2 guest ales on, so hey use it or lose it to another barrel of bloody IPA

This is the cleanest and best pub in Kidlinton, cheap food.The landlord was lovely too.
I will be returning too this one.

WHAT A DIVE!! RUDE STAFF AND MANAGMENT! FOOD TASTED SHIT AND SERVICE WAS THE POOREST I HAVE EVER RECIEVED. GENTS TOILETS FLOODED AND FULL OF CHAVS!!!!! WOULD NOT BE PAID TO DRINK THERE!

Ok it's a bit chavy and has a dance floor, but they did serve a decent pint of ale when I was in, and it had a lively pretty good vibe to it. The best of the 3 in Kidlington centre.

I HAVE EATEN IN THIS PUB THREE TIMES AND EVERY TIME THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE FOOD AND SERVICE.I GAVE IT ONE MORE CHANCE, AS ALWAYS THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE, BUT THIS TIME SOMEBODY TOOK NOTICE AND SHOWED WILLINGNESS TO HELP SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THE MEALS ARE VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, BUT CUSTOMER CARE AND SERVICE COSTS NOTHING. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE BAR TENDER THAT HELPED ME WITH THE DOOR ON ENTRANCE AND EXIT BUT OVER ALL VERY DISSAPPOINTED AGAIN.

This pub is great if you like wearing fake Burberry caps and drink Smirnoff Ice all night. The pub is in no way a suitable venue for any form of live music - it has no stage of any kind and the punters wouldn't know decent, live music if it smacked in the face. If you are a band and are considering playing at this 'great live music venue' I wouldn't bother. Unless you want to be seriously done over by the management.

This place is fantastic. The only place for miles that has live music every Sunday! Can hardly wait for this weekend!
