Good pint of St Austell Tribute. Very dark inside, in the low ceilinged bar, but we headed out to the patio for fine sea views and the rest of the punters.

This is more of a restaurant pub than a drinking one. Serves St Austell beers. I had the tribute which was good. Can't comment on the food, but judging by how packed it was, it can't be bad, though the numbers must mean there will be a wait. Has a nice terrace which overlooks the harbour and is dog friendly. An inn in the true sense as accommodation is available. Not a bad place to go for a couple of pints, though I preferred the other pubs on St Mary's.

Not a bad pub though I cannot comment on food. The St Austell's beers were fine, the view from the terrace fine, though the seagulls were a bit too attentive.

Nice pub, full of character, serving a good range of St Austell beers. Good menu choice, but the service was dreadfully slow and the food best described as average.

I was interested to see the previous comments on this pub because my experience was very similar. We were in this pub at the end of May. We ordered our food and sat down at our table. After 45 minutes nothing had happened so I went to the bar and asked the young man what was going on, he said our food would be along shortly. The strange thing we noticed was that people who arrived after us were being served. Eventually our food arrived after just over an hour and I think my wife's fish had been cooking for the entire time we had been waiting, it was totally dried out. I had Scillonian fish pie and I had fun looking for the fish. When the plates were cleared we were asked if everything was OK I pointed out that it was not and the waiter said that he would tell the chef. I'm never quite sure what the point of that is because if the chef cared he would not send out food of that standard in the first place. A bad experience.

September 2010 - We had been in for a drink and found it to be a good pub, However on going in for a meal on the first night of our honeymoon we had a totally different experience. After waiting half an hour after ordering I approached and asked as to the progress of our meal. We were told they were busy and it would soon be along. After a full hour i went round to the kitchen to ask another girl what was going on, only to be told they had lost our order! I went to the bar and asked for my money back, was given barely an apology, and was still asked to pay for the 2 beers we had bought! The Staff couldn't seem to care less.
I understand it was the end of the season, but this was really crap service. Turns out this happens on a fairly regular basis.
For the first night of our honeymoon, this was a real let down.

Nice pub in the middle of town with good views over the harbor if youre lucky enough to get a table outside. The inside was tastefully decorated. Beer was fine. Didnt eat, so no comment there.

Our second visit to the Island and glad this has improved since 2007. Good idea having St. Austell IPA - a new one on us - priced at 2.25 for 3.4% beer. Ideal for a lunchtime snifter if you still want to stay awake! At the other end of the scale was Proper Job - which was a refreshing hoppy bitter of 4+% - very nice. Good mix of locals and tourists, with a lively quiz on a Thursday night. Watch out for locals "George's Corner" who seem rather OCD about winning!! Their atrocious spelling should lose them marks!*!*!

Proper pub filled with a crowd of pensioners having a raucous afternoon on my visit. The St.Austell Tribute was in fairly decent nick.

Nice space with outside area but witnessed the staff being given a very public dressing down by the manager. Felt a bit uncomfortable. Decent beer.

May 09 - much improved from a couple of years ago. Good straightforward food reasonably priced (which is not the case for all Scilly pubs). Side restaurant area family friendly in early evening with great views over the harbour. St Austell beers in excellent condition and efficient and friendly service. Good atmosphere in main bar area. Recommend.

Had a few days in Isles of Scilly recently and dropped into the Atlantic Inn ......as you do ! A great old fashioned homely pub, the food was really good and reasonably priced. Beers excellent and plenty to choose from but what struck me most ( being an ex landlady ) was the lady in charge ! One of the most proffesional people I have ever met and, I was told, still only 22 years old !! She has this trade in her blood. Well done ! We will be back next year and will certainly make the Atlantic our base.

Nice old fashioned style pub with a good choice of beer. Though very busy serving food which was reasonable, still keeps it's pub character and feel. Step down from the street into low beamed open plan pub that opens up at the back with a dining are to the right. Also an umbrella'd patio at the back complete with canon overlooking the beach.

Great local pub full of character and real ale galore with 5 ales on! More than any on all the Islands and I must say the best pint out of all pubs I have been to. Well done landlord, keep it up! Last June this place was in bad shape, but this young couple have this place buzzing with happy customers. The harbour terrace has been extended with a big brolly for those who like the shade. Locals friendy and good food. Atlantic we will be back!

Great Atmos! We run a pub on the mainland and this is the place to go. Nice friendly faces. Patio has been extended from last year. Spent nearly every night here. Good booze and good food!!! Will be back in the autumn.

Came here for the last few nights of our stay and I must say what a rare find. It is a beautiful character pub and I say the best on St. Mary's. The staff are helpful and friendly. A great improvement on from April 2007. The managers here really know how to run a pub. If you want a good range of REAL (perfectly kept)ales and good food then come here. You will need to book as it gets very busy. We were also aloud to bring our dogs into the bar area.

On holiday on St Mary's early April, we visited The Atlantic several times. The food was excellent and super value. It has clearly improved considerably since being taken over by new management. Sunday lunch (choice of two roasts for under 7) was fantastic value in every way. If you want a table in the window, book!!

The Pub changed hands on the 16th July 2007. The new managers are making continual improvements on the quality of service, Beer and food. Real local produce whenever possible and homemade sweets. Season 2008 promises to be a good year!

The beer was fine but the food was dreadful even after a 1 hour wait. We addressed this issue with the MANAGER 'John'. He was rude, a little tipsey, and invited us to try another pub next time. That we certainly will. Nice one 'John'. Watch out we may write to the brewery too!

The Island: the main island - see the Mermaid. The Pub: you avoid entering the hotel next door (ok we missed first time) to find a typical low ceilinged none too special pub. Several small sections leading to a sea view and veranda which is a plus that few others have in their bar area. Beer: best kept pint on the Scillies but unfortunately only St Austell. Go for Tribute the rest are best avoided (blame the brewery not the landlord) Food: Didn't try but didn't appeal in any way

left the bishop and wolf to try this place. Wish we hadn't bothered. It was just as bad. Oh dear! Are you listening St Austell Brewery?
