I was at this pub yesterday, and found the prices quite exhorbitant,£4.85 for a bottle of Brewdog Punk I.P.A. .My friend had apint of Fosters lager which was almost £4.00 and virtully unpalatable.Wont be rushing back.

Nice enough pub, but nothing special. Thought Tribune @ £3.00 wasn't too bad for the City.

Went there today and had a great night! Watched Tottenham game had a couple of drinks and really enjoyed myself! Staff are polite and efficient, even when the bar was quite busy we did not have to wait long to be served. With Fosters for only 2.65 my time was well spend even if my team lost.

Always had a very warm welcome, prices are very good for central London and not usually too busy that you have to wait too long to be served.

Just got in from a great night in this pub, we only intended it to be a quick one as it wasn't very busy BUT the guy doing the Karaoke was fantastic, brilliant voice and bags of personality. He must be new to the place as there was someone else doing it before. If he stays we will definately be back... here's hoping!!

Unworthy of a comment.
Try a lot harder and then some.

What was once a fun pub for an after work drink has become a dump. The Friday 80s 'disco' became a bore very quickly (there are other decades). There is now no DJ on Fridays and the staff don't appear to be bothered about serving anyone. Well worth avoiding.

Sorry to say that since Dave left in January the new management have set about dismantling what had become a great venue. The new manager seems to have no interest in the customers and only makes token appearances, apparently spending most of his time 'in the office'. The bar staff, whilst pleasant enough, seem to have no motivation. As for the proliferation of candles, menus and condiment sets everywheredespite the distinct lack of suitable tables at lunchtimes, this place now looks and smells like a Little Chef with a bar! Such a shame as if ever the old adage 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' applied to anything, this pub was certainly it. Shame on the management, who obviously haven't a clue. Just see the previous comments and you'll reaise how they've really f***ed this up. The only real exceptions are the music & dj nights on Thursday and Friday evenings, although Thursdays have come to a halt recently.

With dave as the governor , this place is doing fantasticly well. how long till M&B shit on him and he leaves.

Popular bar with outside area suitable for summer days. Cheap and cheerful. Usually shows the mainstream sports on its numerous flat screens - one being outside.
Improving after its lack of cleaning and hole in the floor near the bar area. Pushes food heavily so smells of cheap vinegar. Cheap as chips though, so always worth a visit when money gets low at the end of the month though get there early as occasionally rammed to the rafters.

You get what you pay for and this place was one of the cheaper that we found. Need I say more.

Visited early one Monday lunchtime. Was quiet at the time so found a seat easily. Pride/IPA were on and the Pride I had was OK. Previous reviewers describe the pub accurately. Real chainy feel about the place and despite their best efforts the place has no character. If you want a good beer I suggest you go to the Steel & Star just round the corner. Although, I suspect the women I work with may prefer the Duke purely because it doesn't feel like a drinkers pub. I did notice that the majority of the clientele were females having lunch.

OK darts area. Maybe slightly too close to the pool tables, which seem to often be full of city tossers playing a 25-person game of killer. Karaoke can also get in the way of darts. Beer poor.

Fairly large, faceless, ground floor pub set into a drab modern building. It has all the hallmarks of a featureless plastic Wetherspoons without the benefits of a decent beer selection or the cheap prices. The large multi screened single room has a twin pool table area at one end and a small raised area at the other than can be closed off for private functions. In between there are several tables but not much chance of getting one when busy. The beers are standard fare (Pride / IPA) and the staff totally inept. Every pint we witnessed being pulled was a short measure and when my wife couldnt see what beers were on, she asked what Real Ales were available only to discover they did not know what a Real Ale was. Awful music, dreadfully packed with large office groups blocking the entrances and totally lacking in character. The outside patio is probably the only redeeming feature but unless the weather is right and the hordes are elsewhere, it is probably best avoiding the pub altogether unless you like this sort of thing.

Considering the excellent location and large size, inside and out, this boozer is a disappointment. Has pool and darts, food menu seems pretty good though I haven't tried it. Major problem is that the beer quality and range are both below average.

This pub used to be great now the staff are unfriendly close when they feel like and you tend to feel like a spare part in a big pub but very few customers not welcoming at all. A waste of a pub that could be great.

previous comment? I used to go to this pub alot but then last August it was my birthday so i had a group of people and we were sitting outside as it was still warm, we had a few bottles of wine on the table, then at 9.45 they turned all the lights off outside and said they were closing, made us feel very unwelcome. i took and my wine and went to the pub round the corner S & S. The only thing about the duke is the rose wine is cheap and nice.

It seems this pub doesn't like to look after its regular customers, or in fact anyone who is spending money in their pub. As a regular, I use to rate this pub quite highly and tell many friends about it. But not any more.
Friday nights, their opening times are apparently until 12:00pm. In fact they have it on a sign posted on the bar. But at 10:45pm we were all told to leave, they were closing. We had a full bottle of wine, a new game of pool just started and had freinds just joined us. The staff rudely took our drinks off the table and said they wanted to go home!! I don't doubt the pub is empty of 10:30 if that is the service you get. I would suggest change your sign that states your opening hours and hire staff who want to work!

I know this pub becasues for the last 12 months I have been a regular attendee at their Thursday night karaoke run by Kevin.
Kevin runs by far the best karaoke in London - great sound system, great choice of music, really tightly run so lots of people choose to attend. He has built up the reputation of this pub as the place to go for karaoke in the City ... too good to be true?
Well sadly yes ...
The management of this pub in their infinite wisdom have decided to dispense with Kevin and replace what was an outstanding weekly event with a weak, inferior, second rate alternative. So disgusted am I and my friends that we will be withdrawing our custom from this pub (and telling everyone else to do the same) until they see sense and reinstate the previous quality.
Sorry to be so negative but pubs have to learn that is they devalue quality in the interests of making more profit, then it is they that will lose in the long run.
