Haven’t had - what I’d call - proper (friendly) service this good in ages. The young lady in question was very friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in the door. Great selection of beers and ciders. I opted for one of the stronger offerings from the onsite brewery - Citadel. What a gorgeous pint it was too. We sat out in the nice little beer garden at the rear. Will pop in again when in the area.

Beer here was better than in Clun's other pub and there is also a wider choice. The on-site brewed Green Man was apposite yesterday and excellent it was too. Residents of Clun are lucky to have 2 proper pubs in their town.

The White Horse is home to the Clun brewery. Pale & Citadel were their 2 cask ales. Bottled beers and take aways were available. They also had Salopian Darwin's Origin & Hop Twister, Wye Valley Butty Bach & Hobsons Best. The cider was Farmer Jims Dry and they also had Farmer Jims Farmyard Perry. More of a community pub than the Sun. This place appeared more of a family pub whilst also accommodating for a younger crowd. Both pubs in Clun have their merits. I thought the White Horse had the edge.

Nice 16th century inn with character. Great local ale. Friendly and comfortable.

Tremendous. All the things I love about proper pubs; no music just conversation, excellent range of 4 ales including two brewed on the premises, superb food open fire, friendly landlord. It had them all. A great place.

The thing I love about pubs of the beaten track is that they are always a surprise and 'The White Horse' is no exception. Not far from the castle the place is a busselling local with welcoming staff. On our visit I was lucky enough not to be driving. 3 Ales from the Clun Brewery (brewed out back) Tried the Clun Pale which dispite the good looking beer lacked something for me although others in pub were drinking the pale. I settled for a couple of Citadels which were super. Also on offer were; Clun, Caradoc. Butty Bach, Hobsons Best and Salopian Oracle. Also a draft Cider and Perry.
Food again is special. I had a 12oz rump steak which was a lovely cut of meat. It is supplied by the local Butcher in the Town.

No-frills old interior; friendly and helpful staff; clearly take their beer seriously - excellent Hobsons Mild, well-kept but bland Clun Pale - good home-made dishes on the menu with generous portions. Bit stuffy, could use some ventilation or an open window. Recommended.

Seven of us had lunch here on a walking trip on Good Friday. Six or seven beers on, including a mild from Hobsons. That and the Salopian Shropshire Gold that I tried were in great condition. A good choice of food , including a selection of salads , and everyone was very pleased with their meals, which were reasonable priced as well. Nice atmosphere - the staff even introduced us to the local crossword expert to help us out! Very friendly, great village pub.

Cracking village pub! Think there were 4 ales on offer, of which we had the local Clun Pale, which was excellent and apparently brewed next door. Lovely open fire was much appreciated, and bar meals looked very tempting too, but we were cycling and needed to push on. Highly recommended!

Great pub... We walked the hills with the missus hoping for a steak sandwich and a pint of pear cider..... They had this exact combination and the home made chips were superb.... Landlord and locals very friendly when ordering and a choice of around 4 real ales. my hobsons was perfect.

As out of towners visting the area we stayed at the pub, good basic inexpensive rooms. Nice atmosphere, friendly locals, very nice selection of beer from intersting variety of locals and further afield, all very well kept. Food very average, although breakfast was excellent.

Excellent local pub with pool table and darts.
Just to let people know - Clun is a town, despite its small size. And a great little town too.

Stonking good pub in a beautiful village. Good beers and food and friendly atmosphere. Nice rooms too if you want to stay the night.
|
great local pub, very welcoming and with a good range of beers. well worth a stop if you are passing through.

A good cheerful local. There are always people around for a chat and a bit of craic. Several real beers too. It is surrounded by hills, so walking, beer, decent grub and craic. What more could a lady ask for?

Located in the middle of the small, historic town of Clun in South-West Shropshire. Near to the castle, old bridge and town hall. A "local pub".
