Nice enough pub for a drink especially on a summers evening but although i'm not usually a moaner I feel i have to comment on the appaling roast dinner I recently experienced there.Cold and hard vegetables, brown water for gravy and the toughest gristliest beef I have ever encountered.Shall still drink there but will have my sunday roast elsewhere.

Great location. Four casks including Piddle Forest Bitter sold as the house beer. Pub menu, not too pricy. Service varies. Some staff are rude, others are friendly and helpful.

Good beer from the Piddle brewery but bar staff service was erratic. Attitude when trying to book a table in the bar area was downright rude when told we cn book a table and then told we couldn't 'cos it was school holiday time. Also heard someone ask for the all day breakfast only to be told they couldn't have it cos' they were too busy. Decided against eating there.

This deserves much better than its "4.4/10" rating. The beer is good, with a fairly good range and they give 10% discount to card-carrying CAMRA members. The food portions are enormous and are both good and good value. (And the loos were spotless.) It looks out over the Old Harbour with an excellent view. I feel that a 7/10 is a more accurate rating.

decent little pub set in brilliant location, decent choice of beers at reasonable prices , perfect for daytime pint and bite to eat(didnt eat myself but food looked decent and good prices)

Ever ready to grab a bargain, could not resist the come on of "2 meals for 12." From outside, looked welcoming, and we were pleasantly surprised by the cordial welcome from the bar staff, the excellent beers, keen prices and excellent standard of cuisine. Reading other reviews it looks as if someone has grabbed it and shaken away the rubbish. Went in to eat twice, each time the standard was spot on. Tom Brown's was on at 3.00, and went down nicely. Foodwise, the menu offers a slightly more adventurous slant on pub grub, and the portions are good value.

I'd certainly agree that this is more an eating than a drinking pub but it did have 4 beers on offer yesterday - GK IPA, Reverend James, Dorset Tom Brown's and Doombar. The Tom Brown's was fine and only 3.
An interesting and not over priced menu had quite a feew different "pub" meals on offer.
The youngish bar staff were pretty good even though the place was fairly busy at lunchtime. I'd frop in again if in the area.

Good food, good beer, but really is a food pub rather than a drinkers pub 9/10 for food, but overall 6/10

reserved a table for 9 people. Waited over an hour for our food order. 20 mins between first plate and 9th plate arriving. Lukewarm, undercooked. Disappointed. Wouldn't bother again. Get a take out would be quicker and hotter.

This one's definitely more of an eatery than a pub. The atmosphere was more of a chain pub for families. Having said that, they did have 2 real ales on handpull - Brains Reverend James and Dorset Weymouth JD 1742. The in-laws had a cheap 2 for 1 meal, which was not high on quality. Wouldn't return unless everywhere else closed down.

Visited Weymouth a few years ago and really like this puvb. I have just returned and I was disappointed. I ended up going 3 times twice to eat in my week down there each time I was disappointed. Every pint of ale was cloudy and the food was not great. The staffed seemed ok.

Called in with the family on a recent stay in Weymouth, actualy our second go at this pub and although the service was a bit slow and the barstaff a bit disinterested the food was quite good I thought. The ale wasn't bad but a tad on the pricey side and although they pretend that it isn't this is realy a restaurant in a pub setting. There are worse places in Weymouth though believe me.

Went in for a meal 15/11/07, waited 20 minutes for the starter to arrive, the soup was advertised as "soup served with a fresh baked baggette", it turned up with 2 slices of white bread,When I pointed out the difference the girl said it was a new menu said she would see about it and never seen her again, then another 25 for the main to arrive. It was not anything unusual one was a salad and one gammon. That was after I asked how much longer it would be. I said to the person serving the food that the wait was unacceptable he said that he would get the duty manager, we ate our meal waited another 10 minutes no duty manager so we give up and left. You could not put it down to being busy there was only three other couples eating.

came back at the end of the summer, they have a great new menu.great value for money.could do with more choice of real ales but the weymouth jd was very good. great location when the sun is out.

The staff are the worst I have experienced in 40 odd years !
|
rubbish food - rather eat in mcdonalds, bar staff uninterested, wont be back.
|
great food, service, ales and atmosphere.has improved since our last visit.will be back
|
Gone right downhill since my last visit a few years ago. Food and service were both abysmal. Avoid this one from now on.
|
Not much choice of beer here, only the harbourmaster on and was rather insipid, not a pub we would rush back to.
|
A Pub which could do better with a little more effort from its ignorant bar staff. Food is good and Weymouth Harbourmaster ale is quite well kept. However staff do not seem intereted with the odd exception. No locals in the Pub which tells its own story

Wish I could agree with the comments below as I was looking forward to this pub. Ignoring a few stares from the locals one of the barmen followed this friendly line & served a local who'd arrived after me. With only a choice of Courage Best, which you can get anywhere in the South, or 'Harbourmaster', I plumped for the latter & it was just as weak & insipid as a bad pint of Best. My wife's wine was only just passable so it was an easy decision to move to another pub after the 1st round!

A comfortable place to eat and drink, serving primarily the tourist trade. Decent beers from DBC. Pleasant location on the quayside with outdoor seating.
|
nice and cosy pub, ideal for a relaxing drink and meal,no stares by the locals when you walk in
|
Nice view of the harbour Reasonbly priced food Great well kept Ales
