We visited here today on a recommendation and were not disappointed ! , From the moment we entered we were greeted very warmly by Gill the landlady who made our party of four ( myself , wife and elderly parents ) feel totally at ease. The menu for the lunch was 3 course for 12.95 which was fine for my parents and i however my wife is a VERY fussy eater and when she could not see anything on the Sunday lunch menu Gill very kindly offered her the daily menu to choose from , this sort of service is highly refreshing and shows exceptional customer service in my opinion. The soup was served quickly and was very very good clean bowls all round ! . The main course was beef and it was perfectly cooked and nicely cut , this came with all the trimmings nice generous portions and Gill told us just to ask if any more veg , gravy or mashed potato was needed , ( it wasn't !) , This was our first visit here as mentioned and Gill , Darren and staff can be assured that it will not be our last. I have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to all. 10/10.

I cannot speak highly enough of this pub. I am quite honestly astonished by the negative reviews.
I stopped in the pub looking for a bite to eat with my family. As I arrived I was told the kitchen had just closed. The landlady Gill said that this was not a problem and she would open it again and happily serve my party of 4.
The food was excellent, and very generous in portion size. We all ate something completely different and we were all extremely satisfied with our meals.
The food at lunch time was fantastic and I would have happily gone back for dinner had they not been full with bookings for that evening. I would certainly recommend this pub to everyone and I will definately be returning.

we have recently moved to the village of Abbots bromley and cannot shout load enough on how fantastice the food and drink and service we have recieved at the Coach from Gill, Darren, Joey and all the staff. I have recommended the pub for its food and beer to all my friends and the ones who have used it so far have come back time and again. All I can say if you are looking for great food and great beer then give the coach & horses a go. You won't be disappointed.

AS EVER, EXCELLENT FOOD, EXCELLENT SERVICE, EXCELLENT VALUE.

Rather than spend your time commenting on here why don't you sort out the failings of your pub?

Drank and ate in a party of seven at lunchtime this week. The drinks were well presented by the attentive barman, with individually branded glasses for beer and a cut glass highball for spirits and water. A good range of lager and ale on offer. We then ate a selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes which were all tasty, well cooked and served promptly without fuss. This didn't appear to me to be unusual behaviour from the staff, and I would hazard a guess that we would receive a similar warm wlecome and the same good service on any future visit.

I wonder why this Landlord is once again having to write a defensive piece against the feedback of a dissapointed customer?
A) Pub's food is of a poor standard B) Approach to customer service is misguided C) Both of the above
The one thing this Landlord is right about is that I do eat out regularly, its interesting that anyone who is in business to make money is almost mocking this.
In my business we look for regular customers as an opportunity to grow our business. We also try to recover customers that we have not given the best experience to by listening to their feedback, learning from it and reflecting their concerns through some kind of gesture of good will.
Saving a couple of quid on a cheap meal is not a priority for me. However, I was extremly annoyed at paying full price for poor quality food and would have received a small deduction from the bill as a sign that my complaints had been heard.
I will continue to tell people of this poor experience as I remain extremley frustrated at the poor treatment I received here as a paying customer.
Perhaps The Coach and Horses will start to understand the importance of listening to customers feedback and will reflect on why people complain - not to save a few quid, but because they are very dissapointed by the poor food offered.

Once again I find myself defending our pub against nasty, rude customers who want something for nothing. Having served this man and his two freinds ( the BLT in question was not actually on the menu we did it as a favour ) when the plates were cleared he commented on how fatty the bacon was, we apologised for this and said that had he said before demolishing most of the baguette we would have happily made him a fresh one. We actually took a photo of how little was left just in case something like this review should happen. He then accused us of serving pre cut processed beef to his freind who by the way ate everything on his plate and never complained once. This infuriated my wife who is chef so she once again brought the joint of beef covered over to the mans table and showed him it was in fact a joint of beef (bought from our local butcher ) and cooked that morning, she did not shove it under his nose just merely showed it to him. She also agin pointed out that had he asked earlier she would have happily made another BLT but bacon is fatty and he could have cut any excess fat off himself. In my opinion this man regularly eats out and complains to try and get money off, I did not knock any money off and this I think is the real issue here, he is not welcome in my pub and perhaps would better off eating at the Goats Head, incidentally he said " no wonder people eat at the Goats Head if this is the standard of food you serve here " not the best thing to say when you are looking for a reduction. Saturday lunches are not our busiest lunches but there were 9 other people in the pub who I had to apologise to for this mans antics, they were all very lovely and assured us there was nothing wrong with any of their meals. Again I urge anyone reading this to give us a try a make up your own mind.

The poor comments here do not surprise me - I have just been served the worst BLT you can imagine. Soggy fatty bacon on a cheap part bake roll. When we dared question this and the cheap looking beef served to a friend the joint of beef was brought from the kitchen and shoved under my nose, nice way to treat a customer! Any claim for a reduction to reflect the poor food was resisted (as the owner brags about when responding to another complaint on this site.) This most certainly not a grudge, I just hate being served awful food and being treated badly as a customer. No hot water in toilets and pub almost empty on a saturday lunch time. Suspect owner so reluctant to give a reduction as fed up of being asked to do this so often judging by the poor food we were served. Do not use this pub.

I am absolutely delighted with the fresh food, excellent service and the way we are made so welcome. I have and will continue to recommend this pub to all my friends. I have visited a number of times and the standards have been top class every time. Well done and keep up the good work.

I would like to say as the owner of the Coach and Horses the above review is nothing more than a customer with a grudge. They came in and having ordered meals one of them complained that the burger was a frozen burger, this was not the case and to prove it we brought a burger from the kitchen to show it was indeed fresh. When the group had finished apart from around a quarter of the burger all of the other food had been finished.
When they came to pay we did not give them any money off and this is I feel the reason for the horrible comments. We have a fabulous reputation in the area and regularly serve between 300-400 meals every week without any complaints, do not take any notice of the nasty review and come and give us a try , you will not be dissappointed.

If you are looking for boil-in-the-bag generic pub fare at 8 a main course then this is a fine place. What badly lets this venue down is the rest of the menu where you can end up with uneatables such as grilled baguette scattered with lumps of bitter garlic, or a thick wedge of dry cardboard masquerading as a burger. Dont bother complaining, they arent interested; serves you right if you choose anything that needs more than a microwave.

On a recent visit we found it to now be run by new owners who are really friendly. The food and service were very good and the Landlady 'Gill' was brilliant. Pay it a visit, you wont be sorry.
