Largest selection of ales encountered on the island though all mainstream (as well as a couple of local brews). Found it more of a contrived place - lacks character and feels more like a shop conversion bar.

Recently went back to this pub after 5-6 years away.
It is a bit cleaner in there now and still a good range of beers, however the staff, all very young had little or no idea how to pull a pint.
It did detract on what used to be the best pint on the island. Also no beer festival anymore. Why not?

Reviews below hold good as of this post. Sign outside says it won some CAMRA award in 2012. In addition to the beer comments as aforesaid, has covered smokers' area and a large tree-surrounded back garden with benches and tables.
Mainly middle aged / elderly men drinking early evening. Hard to say offhand who its regular clientele is.
Given the recent sanitisation of many (most?) pubs in Douglas, this Castletown pub could well rank now as a leading contender for best pub on the Island, at least if you attach as much if not more importance to what you're drinking as to the place you're drinking in.
Incidentally, beers very reasonably priced, both by Island and London standards - one or two e.g. Old[e] Peculiar - getting on for half the latter.

Just a short walk from town and next to the station for the steam railway. Superb selection of around 10 ales on offer, local and national, and unlike some other pubs with high beer turnover they also seemed to have got the quality as well as quantity right as all the beers we tried were cool and well kept. Possibly my pub of the week.

Really good - excellent Manx beer from Okell's, and really good value and tasty fish and chips - to be recommended..

Busy pub near the station, with parking outside. The ale selection is good - Bushys Casteltown Bitter, Ruby Mild, Silverd Ale, Shuttleworth Snap IPA & Bitter, Westgate Sundance, Greene King Old Speckled Hen & Courage Best. The main bar displays plenty of pumpclips of previous guest beers. A side room offers pool and darts. The railway theme can be seen throughout the pub. The best pub we found during our second day of drinking in the Isle of Man.

Great selection of well kept beers and right next to the IOM steam railway. An interesting clientele made it one of those places you wanted to stay awhile - pity the last trains to Douglas are in the afternoon, but plenty of buses into the evening.
|
A large pub on the main road next to the railway station. 10 ales on offer - 5 from Bushy's and 5 guests - from 2.35 a pint. Excellent quality. Large garden backs onto the railway. Pool table. Food menu looked very cheap although it wasn't sampled. easily the best pub in Castletown.

Enjoyed my visit to this pub that everyone said was the one to go to. Situated on bus route, and by the Steam Railwat station so easy to get to. Long bar displaying a good choice of ales, and we enjoyed the Hydes Original and Bushys Castletown Bitter.

Pub was heaving when I was there in the early evening on a Saturday. I get the impression that the management run this successful pub by looking after their customers. A good selection of real ales, fairly large pub with TV screens that aren't too instrusive. Go visit.

Excellent range of beer in a great pub which at the time was packed to the rafters for some Rugby gathering or something like that. On the Douglas-Castletown bus route so easy to get to.

I can onle agree with everything writen below, a lovely pub, some great beers, Lovely location, and great, friendly regulars.

Excellent pub adjacent to the Isle of Man Railway Castletown Station. Excellent value - hom- brewed - Castletown Bitter and a good range of guest ales on my visit. Add to that friendly service and decent food and this is defintely a winner. A 'must visit' if ever there was one.

Biker friendly pub on the approach to Castletown (next to the Shell Garage). Its frontage is shared with the neighbouring "Viking" but for a good real ale, then The Sidings is your best bet. Can be a bit warm indoors when it's busy, but a decent sized garden at the back is more than pleasant on a summers evening.

Yet again the Island delivers a superb pub loads of very well kept ales and hearty well priced grub just the place you need when you've had hard day in the pits
|
A superb selelction of real ales at an excellent price. One of the best pubs in the Island, no question. Should be rated more hightly on here, in my opinion.
|
The Sidings has what must be the largest selection of real ale on the island. On entering you're greeted by about 8 or 9 handpumps selling a selection of different ales. Approx half are beers from the island breweries and the others usually from the NW UK. Beer always well kept, making the place a regular CAMRA GBG entry. Pub is situated between Castletown and the airport and is next to the steam raliway station. The beer garden is next to the railway line so the trains pass by the beer garden. Food served lunctimes (not Sun).
|
Huge quantities of good food that isn't expensive. Large selection of ales
|
A convenient pub right next to the steam railway station and just off the main road by the Shell petrol station.
7 cask ales were on when I called in, the one I tried was excellent. Also very good value lunchtime bar snacks - nothing fancy but even the chip barm was good value.

For real ale lovers this place has it all. Always a great selection of guest ales and all kept to the highest quality.
Food served most day-times.
Good friendly clientele who always seem to be playing cards.
Although just outside the main town it has to be worth a visit purely for the beer.

A fine selection of 6 or 7 ales on offer when we were in.
Although packed, we were made to feel very welcome with the locals.
Keenly-priced toasted sanswiches available.

Was in here recently and must upgrade for the choice of beers and the friendliness of the staff and locals nowadays. Almost too much to choose from

T 823 282 A Bushy's pub with a bar built like a railway train. Built originally (prior to 1876) by Mr C.R.Duck and know as the Duck's Nest Hotel. Lots of TT/Southern 100 memorabilia, listed in the Good Beer Guide and popular with bikers, rugby club and Manx Speakers. A real ale house where one feels a bit foreign amongst the locals.
